After a full day sightseeing and exploring in the big city, come back to a restful, quiet area and enjoy all the comforts of home. Sakamoto town is 16 minutes from the Kyoto Station, (I live between 2 stations one 14 min and the other 16 minutes ( 4 stops on the JR line so you can use your Japan Rail pass. Hieizan Sakamoto is also famous for being a center of Buddhist traditions. It has many local temples and gardens which allow you to participate respectfully in ceremonies. Sakamoto is also the cable car access point to Enraku-ji at the top of Mt. Hie(UNESCO world heritage site ) Guest AccessAccess to everything, 2 toilets, one upstairs ( western; heated seat, bidet, music, dryer ! ) one downstairs ( Japanese ) As usual with Japanese houses 1 bath tub/ shower area, changing room .Kitchen space, IH cooker, microwave , espresso maker , toaster etc. Utility room; washer ,dryer, etc . Interaction with GuestsLots to talk about , where to go what to do etc . The NeighborhoodHIEIZAN SAKAMOTO still has the charm of an old Japanese village, Please do not expect clubs and other things that one can see in Kyoto. It is a quite town and all that goes with it . There is however a large supermarket open till 9pm and of course a convenience store open 24/7. 5 min walk to cable car going up Mt Hie to UNESCO site Enrakuji , lots of hiking trails and 26 temples within walking distance ( you will be templed out ! ) there is ( for the more adventurous hikers a temple at the top of the mountain ( my car will not make it there ) Also 3 ski resorts within 1 hour by train...but only in winter . Getting AroundThere are 4 train stations nearby ..Keihan ( MATSUNOBANBA ) 6 minutes walk ( this connects to the JR ) but it is slow so If you have the JR pass this is good (16 minutes into Kyoto main station ) most times I can I can drop you down and pick you up at the JR station ( as it a 20 minute walk ) but if I can not then I book and pay for a taxi for you ( nobody wants to walk home after a day of sightseeing .)Note . the first train is 5-30 am and the last train is midnight . There are 2 bikes if you are fit
( one has a key lock the other a combination lock ...number 7-2-5-6 .These you can park at the local JR station is 80cents ( USD ) a day
