The NeighborhoodOur house is located right in the centre of San Gwann; it's a quiet and an extremely safe neighbourhood. We are next to everything one could need. The University is 15 mins on foot, Mater dei the main hospital in Malta is only 8 mins, It is also a landmark as it is one of the 2 main bus stops in Malta: you can visit almost all the island catching the bus from here. Across the road there is Lidl supermarket, and on our right side of the house there are plenty of places where one can have breakfast, or a snack, at De Pinto for example. Then just next to it there is a pizzeria and restaurant called De Malte, these 2 are only outside our house. The pharmacy is just 20 metres away, and also the main church . There is a bus stop just opposite our house, the name of the stop is (balal) with the bus 22 you can go to Mater dei, get the X1 and it takes you to the north of the Island where you can find plenty of beautiful sandy beaches and straight to Cirkewwa, if you would like to catch the ferry and proceed to Gozo, this bus trip from my house is about 50 minutes. Bus 203 takes you directly to 2 beautiful and popular sandy beaches in Malta. One is Gnejna bay and the other Golden sands.
Then just across the road from our house there are buses that go to St Julians, Sliema, and the capital city of Valletta. The name of this bus stop is Balal as well.the trip is much shorter as we are situated more at the centre east of malta, 10 mins to St Julians , 12 to Sliema, and 30 to Valetta. Getting AroundBus stops are just a few meters from our house., as I said Mater dei bus stop is situated in San Gwann ,we are very lucky because most of the places you would want to visit you can be sure you will find the bus for you, even to go back and forth to the airport with the X1 OR X2. Bus cards are available at the price of 21 euros, unlimited travel, for the whole week. They are valid also for the night buses and valid in Gozo too.
Then there are cards at 15 euros , valid only for 12 trips.
Also 2 euro tickets, but valid only for 2 hours.
Most of our guests choose the weekly card called ( explore ) which I would recommend if your stay is at least 7 days.
You can purchase these straight from the airport at the public transport booth, come with the bus and go back to the airport on your departure date. Other Things to NoteMost of the day I am busy with my family life style, so around 7pm, it is my time to relax and unwind.
Please do not take it as if you are less welcome if you see the curtain drawn, as I said if you need anything please feel free to give me a shout, I will be more than glad to help :)
