The SpaceSecluded clifftop house, overlooking Caribbean set in large private garden. Private 30 foot tiled pool. 10 minute walk to beach. Fabulous sunsets. Upper floor only is ideal for a couple, (downstairs would not be let out separately) or whole house sleeps 6, with 3 bathrooms total. Full kitchen on both floors. If only the upper level occupied, lower level will be kept locked and unoccupied. You will be the only people in the house, so you will have to self-cater. The house and all sheets and towels will be cleaned immediately before and after your stay, and once weekly during your stay. The house is in a quiet, secluded area with few neighbours. It is strongly recommended that you hire a vehicle for your stay. The island is small, quiet, safe and non-commercial but there is a choice of restaurants. The house and island is ideal for a complete getaway with little to do except enjoy unspoilt beaches and scenery. All visitors want to return, which speaks for itself. The SpaceNestled in Montserrat's rainforest-covered hills, with breathtaking sea views and a ten minute walk to an often deserted beach, this secluded hideaway is perfect for those seeking a restorative and utterly peaceful vacation. This is a elegant, recently renovated two storey villa with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two reception rooms and a beautiful grand piano-shaped swimming pool. The villa has arguably the best views on the island. Because it is west facing, sundowner cocktails on either of the 60ft uninterrupted, sea-facing balconies, or pool deck are a must. The house is situated in Montserrat's Woodland Beach area at the end of a private cul de sac, shared by only one other villa. A ten minute amble takes you to a secluded beach, where you'll often discover you are its only visitors. In season (August-November) you may be lucky enough to see turtles nesting or hatching. The offshore reefs are teaming with life and can be explored by snorkel from the beach (or diving can be arranged). The villa has a new modern fitted fully-equipped kitchen, a laundry, internet, cable TV, gas barbecue and a large totally private garden. We are happy to provide advice for visitors via email in advance of their stay, and our on-island agent will provide all additional information or services needed. Montserrat remains a Caribbean secret, quaintly reminiscent of the 1950s, a far cry from neighboring Antigua. With so little tourism, and as Montserratians are unfailingly welcoming, visitors become part of island life. An active volcano (an entirely safe distance away) makes for fascinating exploration, as do numerous guided forest treks. Montserrat is a one-off; it grabs your heart and visitors invariably return. The NeighborhoodThe villa is secluded and quiet - the only sounds are the waves crashing on the beach below, bird song, the chirruping of the tree frogs at night and the crowing of the occasional rooster. The large garden is surrounded by lush rainforest. Agoutis are often to be seen scuttling across the lawns. Getting AroundThere are local minibuses but car hire is recommended. It is a well integrated very friendly society almost entirely crime free and free from prejudice and discrimination. Taxiis are relatively expensive in local terms but double as buses which are really good value about £1 to travel the length of the island. The roads are relatively good being EU and British funded and car rental is $US30-$US35 a day. Pack long, cool cotton trousers and long sleeved shirts for evening & night wear, it is the tropics and there are biting insects, although much fewer than other islands. The SpaceA luxury Spanish-style home set in beautiful gardens with outstanding views of the Caribbean Sea. Set on the crest of the hill and in a small quiet cul-de-sac, the villa is distinguished by its terracotta floors, elegant archways and high wooden ceilings which take full advantage of the cooling breezes throughout the year. There is a spacious living/dining room and also comfy wicker furniture for both the front terrace and back courtyard. All the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Their is a large sparkling pool and a bbq facility. The kitchen, with hatch looking directly towards the sea, includes a refrigerator/freezer, large gas stove, dishwasher, washing machine and chest freezer. You have a stunning and unobstructed view of the sea which is less than 2 minutes drive away. The house faces west and you can see the setting sun throughout the year. Also included are TV (with cable programming), VCR, DVD (all American NTSC system) and complementary uncapped internet. The large gardens have many fruit trees and the lawn is of the soft azoysia grass which allows you to pad around barefoot. At night the the pool deck and front driveway can be lit up through a combination of outside lanterns. Or turn them all off and let the fireflies provide your entertainment! There is a resident villa manager. Or if they want to be left alone that's OK too. The NeighborhoodMontserrat is a friendly, mountainous island in the Eastern Caribbean, with an active volcano in the southern portion of the island. Activities include hiking, bird watching, diving, fishing, boat trips around the island with Buffy Boat Tours, island tours, and visits to the National Trust museum and the volcano observatory. You can also look for souvenirs in the National Trust gift shop, or the Last Chance gift shop at the airport, and you can sample local cuisine at any of the informal restaurants and bars. There are four festivals during the year, and if your visit coincides with one of these you can also experience a glimpse of local culture Getting AroundA rental car is highly recommended, which we can arrange if wished. Public transport is irregular and not on any fixed schedule, and does not come up the hill to Manjack. There's parking space at the cottage. The SpaceMontserrat is the perfect, secluded getaway. Stay at Nice Diggs - a relaxing retreat for 4 adults and 2 children. Nice Diggs is a family-owned villa named after our step-grandfather, Frank Diggs, who built this dream retirement home in the 1980's. We have been fortunate to vacation at this villa and escape the fast paced city life. With Montserrat's active volcano since 1995, the island has very little tourism but a vibrant island culture with slogans like 'Still here...Still nice' Nice Diggs is a comfortable 2 bedroom, 3 bath home on a lovely landscaped lot on Runaway Circle. The large 'L' shaped pool is perfect for laps, or just relaxing in the shallow area enjoying the Caribbean sun. The spacious veranda has comfy furniture, and the view is amazing - the islands of Redonda and Nevis are straight ahead! Inside this home exudes older charm, with a large master bedroom and 2 bathrooms (one of these also opens out onto the veranda if desired), and entered from the veranda on the opposite side of the villa is the second smaller bedroom and bath. Because of the layout, this second bedroom is not good for people with small children, but perfect for another couple or in-laws! There is a small third bedroom with 2 twin beds in the ground level. The kitchen opens out onto the patio/veranda, and there is a large combo living/dining room. In the living room, there is a flatscreen TV and DVD player. Although, you might find Nice Diggs to be too peaceful to even turn on the TV. If so, the bookshelves are filled with some great old beach reads. We have wireless internet and a US land-line in case you need to connect back to reality. Nice Diggs and the island of Montserrat are truly a great escape, a place to relax, and a place of adventure. When you fly onto the island on the 6-seater flight, you will understand!

      Min-y-Don is a privately owned villa in a secluded location perched on the cliff with breathtaking views of Redonda and Nevis across the Caribbean, as well as the Montserrat hills inland. Situated at the end of a small road, the only sounds you will hear are from the sea and the wildlife - birds, tree-frogs and crickets. Set in a large mature garden with its own private 30 foot long tiled pool, this is the perfect location for complete rest and relaxation in the privacy of your own "home". Woodlands Beach, which you will usually have to yourself, is just 10 minutes walk away. The house sleeps 6 and is set out on two levels with external stairs and separate entrances. The master bedroom & bathroom are on the upper level, along with ample seating and dining areas, inside and out and full kitchen - ideal for a couple. There are a 4 further single beds and 2 bathrooms, along with a full kitchen and sitting/dining areas on lower level. The downstairs apartment is available for self-catering rental at times when the owner is staying upstairs. The owner will give you as much privacy as you wish, including not using the pool whilst you are staying, but will also be happy to help with airport transfers, shopping for your arrival, advising on visits, restaurants etc. See reviews which include those from guests who have stayed in the downstairs apartment with the owners 'upstairs'. Upper level is available for 1 couple at US$1500 per week (plus 7% tax); Lower level would remain locked. The location is fairly secluded, but with a few other residential homes within walking distance. You can walk to the beach (about 10 minutes) but it is hilly. There are no other amenities within walking distance, so a hire car is strongly recommended. There is ample parking on the property. You must get a local driving licence from the Police Station before driving - you must produce your driving licence from your own country & the fee is EC $ 50. Alternatively, there are buses which run fairly regularly on the main road throughout the daytime - the main road is up a hill from the house and is about 20 minute walk.                 Nestled in Montserrat's rainforest-covered hills, with breathtaking sea views and a ten minute walk to an often deserted beach, this secluded hideaway is perfect for those seeking a restorative and utterly peaceful vacation. This is a elegant, recently renovated two storey villa with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two reception rooms and a beautiful grand piano-shaped swimming pool. The villa has arguably the best views on the island. Because it is west facing, sundowner cocktails on either of the two 60ft uninterrupted, sea-facing galleries, or pool deck, are a must. The house is situated in Montserrat's Woodland Beach area at the end of a private cul de sac, shared by only one other villa. A ten minute amble takes you to a secluded beach, where you'll often discover you are its only visitors. In season (August-November) you may be lucky enough to see turtles nesting or hatching. The offshore reefs are teaming with life and can be explored by snorkel from the beach (or diving can be arranged). The villa has a new modern fitted fully-equipped kitchen, a laundry, internet, wide screen TV, cable, gas barbecue, log-burning barbecue, and a large totally private tropical garden.                       The SpaceLarge, light and airy, with a regular breeze, you can hear the ocean from the base of the cliffs below. Two large rooms are spacious and luxurious and a third is small but comfortable. The downstairs has multiple areas for relaxation and dining, whether indoors during inclement weather or on the terrace. The master bedroom has a private balcony with table and chairs and a fabulous view over the Caribbean Sea. It also has a recently renovated en-suite bathroom. The two other rooms share a bathroom between them. The living room area can be opened up to the breeze or closed down if it's windy. There are several sofas and armchairs, a TV with DVD player, and a small selection of DVDs available. There is no cable TV but the internet is (usually) fast enough to stream services such as netflix on laptops/tablets. On the terrace there is a dining table and chairs, which is where most people prefer to dine, since it is breezy and has a wonderful view. There is also a day bed, with marvellous views over the sea. Our guests report spending many hours relaxing there! The kitchen has a bar-style hatch that opens onto this terrace. Inside the kitchen you will find everything you need - a large fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, coffee machine, a variety of pots, pans and utensils, and all of the crockery you will need. The kitchen is rather dated in style, but we keep it clean and provide everything you should need to cater for yourselves during your stay. Please note that the oven on the gas stove does not currently work, so we have provided a separate, electric counter-top oven to replace it. There is also a large gas-powered BBQ outside the back door. The pool is deep and welcoming, for guests who want to get exercise or just relax. There are two sun loungers to relax on at the far end of the pool, with lovely views of the forested interior of the island. Steps for the second-largest bedroom lead directly to the pool, which is otherwise accessed from the terrace. There are two sofa beds downstairs, one inside and one outside, and we may consider accepting more than 6 guests, but please contact us in advance. From the side of the villa you can walk through the garden to a path, which leads down through the woods to Woodlands Beach. Please note that we do not own any of the land that this path runs through, so it sometimes becomes overgrown. It is advisable to wear stout shoes for the walk, which is quite steep. Please note that Montserrat is a remote island. Replacing even very basic household items, appliances, fixtures and fittings is VERY expensive and time-consuming. We have recently completed a series of renovations, but we realise that it is not perfect. As such we do not present Surf Sighed as a luxury villa, with the expectations that this brings. We prefer, instead, to offer the stunning views, expansive rooms, large swimming pool and fabulous peace and quiet at a price unrivalled across the rest of the Caribbean and hope that our guests will bear with us if some of the doors do not slide so smoothly, or the furniture is a little old-fashioned. We are always listening to guests and making small changes that improve their enjoyment of the space, and hope to continually improve. Please rest assured that we never cut corners in ensuring that the place is spotlessly clean, or on comfort issues such as beds and bed linen, insect netting, lighting and fans. We pay better-than-average hourly rates to our employees, and also guarantee them a minimum weekly wage throughout the year, so that their income is not affected if occupancy rates drop. There will always be somebody at the end of a telephone or email to help you out should you run into any problems. The NeighborhoodWith the mountains behind and beach in front, the Woodlands area is perfect for all interests. Walk down through the forest to the beach, where you can snorkel, swim or play in the sand with often nobody else around. Or hike up to the jungle in 10-15minutes from the villa and explore a real rainforest. It's centrally located on the island for access to shops and restaurants and is at the end of a cul-de-sac so there's very little traffic. You can research plenty of information online before you visit and during high season we recommend that you book restaurants and activities in advance. Groceries Ram’s is pretty much the only place to buy groceries on this part of the island. In Brades there’s Ashok’s and Carr’s Bay there’s King’s. Most stock pretty much the same things but at King’s you have the option of delicious homemade frozen Indian curries. On Fridays and some other mornings you will find local people selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, which is the best way to buy fresh produce. Restaurants Locations all viewable on googglemaps (sorry for misspelling but airbnb censor the real name, for some unknown reason). •Pont’s Beach View - Little Bay •Ziggy’s – Woodlands (dinner only, quite expensive, but best food on island): •Watermelon Cottage (very atmospheric, dinner only) - Olveston •Olveston House (Sir George Martin’s house, although he won’t be there!) A new addition to the island is Java Lava, in St Peter’s. Open most days 9am-3pm it bridges the gap between coffee shop and restaurant. Visit for drinks and food ranging from snacks to meals – they have daily specials such as rice bowls, burgers, panini, rotis. Hilltop Café is a must for any visitor. It’s a coffee shop with some pastries and cakes but the main thing you visit for is the atmosphere. The owners have lived on island for decades and David filmed some iconic video footage of the early eruptions and what life was like then. They will show you the video (around 20 mins) that’s basically the same as at the MVO but in more comfortable surroundings! There are lots of small takeaway places for basic chicken and rice lunches. Some days there are roadside BBQs. Activities There are few things to ‘see’ on Montserrat - most pleasure is derived from what you ‘do’ here. Relaxing by the pool, swimming in the sea, diving, snorkelling, hiking in the hills – it’s a wonderful place to be. Check out the tourism website above for most details, but we have a few extra things we can offer through friends: private yoga classes, nature tours. Art It is worth checking out some of the island’s artists. Many have exhibitions in Java Lava coffee house or the National Trust. Our favourites are Shan Murrell – Little Island Designs and Franki and Kathy in the shop beside the MVO. Plymouth tours If you hired your car from Winston Telesford, also ask him for a tour that takes you into Plymouth – he’s one of the few approved to operate there and is very knowledgeable. He’s a lovely person. Getting AroundIt is very difficult to get around on Montserrat without a car and we suggest that you arrange car hire before you arrive. We always recommend Winston Telesford as a reliable person to supply your car. He will pick you up at the airport or port when you arrive, arrange your temporary driving license, and take you to Surf Sighed. His prices are US$35 a day and will do deals on longer rentals. Once you have booked with us we will send you his contact details so that you can book your car hire with him. There are other agencies available if you search on Montserrat car hire on the internet but we have never used them and cannot make particular recommendations. Other Things to NotePLANNING YOUR TRIP Wherever you’re coming from in the world, you’ll need to transit another island in order to get to Montserrat. Most choose Antigua, as there are regular flights and ferries to Montserrat. Guadeloupe or other islands are possible if you charter a plane (this can be cheaper than you think if you are more than two people). Please contact us if you’re considering a charter as we may be able to assist. Unless you particularly want to overnight in Antigua then take care when booking your international flights. Some arrive without enough time for you to transit to Montserrat flights (which can’t leave after sunset). You should leave a gap of 2 hours between your expected arrival time in Antigua and scheduled departure with another airline. You can always take the ferry, which leaves later, but it doesn’t run every day. In summary – check your onward travel before booking your international flights! Book flights for Montserrat through SVG Air or Fly Montserrat (they both have websites, but Airbnb hide them if I put them here so you'll just have to search for them). N.B. Please check hand luggage rules of Fly Montserrat/SVG before you travel as they’ve been known to charge extra for small suitcases as if they’re hold luggage. For the ferry timetable (buy tickets on departure) you should follow the links on the Visit Montserrat website. N.B You must be at the ferry terminal 1.5hrs before scheduled departure to complete immigration and customs procedures. PRICE COMPARISON: Ferry: EC$150 each way (approximately US$55 or £38) Flight: Usually around US$115 each way Extra charges: Ferry: You will be charged a departure tax from Antigua if you have been in Antigua or Barbuda for more than 24hrs (I think approximately EC$40 (£10 or US$15), but it has recently changed). Flights: You will be charged an EC$55 (US$21 or £14) departure tax from Montserrat. If you cannot demonstrate that you are transiting Antigua in less than 24hrs by giving them a printed copy of your online airline ticket out of Antigua then you will also be charged a tax of US$37.50 (EC$95 or £24) upon departure from Montserrat. ACCOMODATION IN ANTIGUA If you need somewhere to overnight then the following are budget to mid-range options that either we or friends of ours have used: Near the airport… (Be aware there’s nowhere to eat near these if you want an evening meal, but a taxi will not be expensive, although check the currency and rate before taking it) - Wind Chimes - Carter’s Guest House In St John’s… - The Heritage Hotel (rooms can be noisy overlooking the street on a weekend night but it’s comfortable and air conditioned and you can ask for an inside-facing room) Further afield… - Siboney Beach Club (on a popular beach, not too far from the airport, and next to a nice bar and restaurant). - South Coast Horizon (20 minute drive from St John’s, a little basic but lovely, peaceful setting with private, deserted beach and mangrove swamps. A favourite of ours). - Ocean Point Residence Hotel and Spa (not too far from St John’s and the airport, nice setting, in-house Italian restaurant). Avoid unless desperate… Jo Mike’s Inn La Galleria COMMUNICATION Most people here operate with phones, not on the internet (including businesses). You can find most numbers in the yellow pages; either the copy we left for you at the villa or by looking up the Montserrat Yellow Pages online. There is no phone at Surf Sighed but we have always found it relatively inexpensive to call phones here from our skpe account rather than racking up big phone bills with international phones. If you’re staying for a long time you may want to consider getting a local sim card – you can visit either Flow or Digicell for this.

The apartment was built to take full advantage of the trade winds and sea breezes, and is tucked away at the end of a road that many locals don't even know exists. The immediate surroundings, the beach and sea, the mountain walks and Montserrat generally are so beautiful and unspoilt we don't envisage you spending much time indoors, but while you are there we want you to feel at home. There is a small river running passed the edge of the property, within a short walk, and all of this, plus a veranda for guests' exclusive use is available. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to meet and collect our guests at the airport or ferry dock - you can only get to Montserrat via Antigua by either a small connecting airline or by sea on a regular ferry route. We can help with car hire, directions, advice on where to go and what to do. This is such a special island we will be keen to encourage visitors to appreciate it in all aspects. From deserted beaches to views overlooking the volcano, there is plenty to keep the mind and body active. However, because of its remote nature, you will not be crowded out by other visitors. indeed you may find it harder to find other 'tourists' that you will to find natures treats to look at. The NeighborhoodWoodlands is a forest area close to a turtle beach, where if you are lucky you may be able to watch turtles laying their eggs, under the watchful eye of a wildlife guide Getting AroundCar hire costs around $25 per day - normally a 4x4 to enable you to reach the remoter parts of the island. It is possible to travel by local bus $3EC per trip, and there are plenty of taxis and willing, knowledgeable tour guides. The apartment has a list of opportunities for walking, eating out, sight seeing or snorkelling and diving. Other Things to NoteMontserrat offers you the green and the gritty. This island is off the grid as a tourist destination and has yet to succumb to the commercialism of other Caribbean islands. You will have to make your own entertainment and find your own way around (we will be delighted to help of course). The local residents are very friendly and the currency has stayed true to the East Caribbean Dollar - though most will help you out with US Dollars if you need it.

Located on a lovely lot approximately 0.7 of an acre in size at the end of Sweet Lime Lane Inis Ealu, (Irish Gaelic for Island Escape) is a custom villa designed and built in 2006. It features a blue steel roof, cherry cabinetry and granite counter tops in kitchen. There is a bar for eating that separates the kitchen from the indoor dining area, and a pass-through to the veranda with mahogany bar. The upstairs master bedroom with king bed has doors right out to the pool. Downstairs is a large guest suite with separate entrance from the garden. There is an additional small patio, a laundry room with washer, gas dryer and additional storage room. Main floor powder room. Fully furnished and equipped. Due to the pool not being fenced we do not cater for young children.

Previous Tenants and Owners Guests have stayed on many occassions in this since the property was acquired in 1995. A great position making good use of the gentle trade winds with some of the best views on island. The best and longest beach on island with good shaded facilities is within easy walking distance and also popular, well stocked supermarket and three good restaurants. Welcome to our house in Paradise - you will not be disappointed and you will be well looked after by both Martin and Aidee, his wife, who manage our property and live nearby.

L'une des plus belles propriétés sur l'île, « Alta Loma » villa en bord de mer caractéristiques identique au parc des motifs sur une falaise surplombant les Caraïbes ainsi que les îles de Redonda et Nevis. Une voisine mène à une autre grande villa Montserrat a à offrir: « Woodlands », une plage privée avec belle natation et plongée en apnée. La mise en page de ce trois chambres, quatre et demi salles de bain maison se prête à la vie privée ou convivialité et est parfait pour un vacances de Montserrat. La suite chambre des maîtres séparée comprend un coin bureau ainsi qu'une salle, avec une double salle de bains luxueuse avec baignoire pleine et douche. Le grand salon, salle à manger et cuisine que tous offrent des vues spectaculaires sur l'eau. Remorquer les autres chambres, et un repaire pour télévision et ordinateur, remplir les espaces intérieurs de la maison. Un pont de grandes dalles autour de la piscine, mais aussi un pont supérieur avec bar, fournissent de nombreuses zones divertissants à l'extérieur. Baignade, plongée avec tuba, plongée et randonnée sont tout spectaculaires sur Montserrat. Tennis est juste en bas de la route. Il y a nombreux amende dinant des établissements remplis de ses habitants chaleureux et des expatriés, qui sont toujours prêts à partager des contes.

                                Vista de Redonda offre la meilleure vue de l'île et comme c'est le nom l'indique, une vision claire de la Redonda, ainsi que Nevis par temps clair. Situé sur le dessus des îles de la baie des isles, cette villa était autrefois la maison à beaucoup de très célèbres artistes et de musiciens de l'époque, tels que Elton John ! Le volcan de la Soufrière Hills, qui a éclaté en 1997, a fermé en baisse de studio de l'air et enterré la principale ville de Plymouth, mais Montserrat est vivante et bien et une destination d'escapade étonnamment tranquille. Vista de Redonda est actuellement disponible à la location comme un 1 chambre ou villa 3 trois chambres. Chaque chambre a c' est une salle de bains privée a gagné et lit king en peluche. La chambre principale possède son propre balcon privé donnant sur la piscine. Les deux autres chambres sont situées à l'extrémité orientale de la villa, à 100 mètres de la Chambre des maîtres, qui fournissent beaucoup de la vie privée pour deux familles ou une famille avec enfants, à rester à Vista. Avec plus de 3000 pi2 habitable couverte, cette villa offre amplement d'espace pour se déplacer et laissez-vous tenter par tous les Montserrat a à offrir ! Paix, tranquillité et calme, au son des vagues de l'océan ci-dessous. Plage de la baie des Isles est qu'un court 20 minutes de marche, maintenant doté d'un tout nouveau yacht club, le restaurant et le bar, pour dîner et des boissons sur la plage et de magnifiques couchers de soleil. Autres restaurants, épiceries et autres équipements sont à 20 minutes à courte distance en voiture. Disponibles à la location sur une base hebdomadaire ou mensuelle. Vista de Redonda a le meilleur taux n'importe où sur l'île ! Vous ne trouverez pas une plus grande maison avec piscine et les meilleures vues de Montserrat, à un prix aussi abordable. Une fois la maison à de nombreux artistes de l'époque, Vista a été abandonné au cours des années de volcan. Situé à l'extrémité d'une petite route, les seuls sons que vous entendrez sont de la mer et de la faune - oiseaux, les rainettes et les grillons. Situé dans un grand jardin avec sa propre piscine privée 30 pied long en mosaïque, c'est l'endroit idéal pour le repos et la détente dans l'intimité de votre propre maison. Plage de Woodlands, vous aurez généralement à vous-même, est à seulement 10 minutes à pied. La maison 6 personnes et est exposée sur deux niveaux avec escalier extérieur et entrée indépendante. La Chambre des maîtres & de la salle de bains sont à l'étage supérieur, avec ample salon et salle à manger, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur et plein de cuisine - idéal pour un couple. Il y a 4 autres lits simples et 2 salles de bains, ainsi qu'une cuisine équipée et salon/salle à manger sur le niveau inférieur. L'appartement au rez-de-chaussée est disponible pour la location de self-catering au moment où le propriétaire est de rester à l'étage.
