SELF-DRIVE DIRECTIONS If you are driving your own car from Marrakech the first section is a straight road through farmland along the R203 to Tahanoute. Next is a twisting route into the High Atlas Mountains which drops down to a wide river valley lined with Berber food stalls, and with camel and horse rides available. After passing through Asni continue straight at the roundabout towards Ouirgane and Taroudant. At the small village of Marigha follow a signpost pointing left to Kasbah Africa (after the second mosque). The next 3 km should be driven carefully on a dirt/gravel track (piste) which winds up the Azzaden Valley. After 2 km from Marigha you will reach a right turn in the road which leads to Torort village. Ignore this and keep left. The next right fork (with a ‘no entry’ sign) leads to Kasbah Africa’s parking area, 3 km from Marigha.
LOCAL TRANSPORT If you are on a tight budget Marigha can be reached by shared Grand Taxi or Public Bus from Marrakech (Sidi Mimoun taxi station). Seats cost 22 dh pp to Asni (we recommend buying 2 seats pp for more space). Change taxi in Asni and take another shared Grand Taxi to Ouirgane (asked to be dropped off at Marigha village en route, at the Kasbah Africa sign). Seats cost 6 dh pp to Marigha. Alternatively a daily public bus departs Bab Doukkala bus station in Marrakech at 1145 AM destined for Taroudant. Ask to be dropped off at Marigha. The journey time is typically 3 hours 15 minutes! Tickets cannot be pre-booked and cost 25 dh pp. From Marigha it is a 3 km walk to Kasbah Africa (if you are back-packing in style) or you can call Kasbah Africa and request a private Grand Taxi transfer (costs 80 dh). If you need to wait there is a small café in Marigha. Other Things to NoteAlthough Kasbah Africa is off-the-beaten track it does have reliable satellite enabled Wi-Fi. The property is built into the side of the valley so guests should be aware that there are a lot of steps!
