The SpaceThis is a retreat for people wanting to explore another culture, volunteer, or just get out of the West for the winter. Although you don't have to have a low income retirement pension, lower income women will have first choice as we fill up. You will need at least $700 a month income to have a great time. You will have a private room with bath, queen or king size bed, a table and 2 chairs, closet and staff to wait on you. You will be treated like a king/queen. The kitchen is always open. You will have access to the entire building, 2 living room areas, rooftop and restaurant. All the food you want to eat is included, prepared to your order. Everything is included except for personal items and souvenirs. It will be a long, fun-filled adventure that really won't need to quit until you are ready to go back home. I'm creating a way for the women to stay longer than 10 months, having a better visa ($10 or so per month). You will eat the same quality of food as I do and ride in the same car as I will-everything quality! This village is still in the Ktm Valley, but up high with a nice breeze and excellent views. The people are warm and friendly. The air is clean and if you hear dogs barking at night they are usually a long way off, not loud enough to wake you. Nepal has a very low violent crime rate against foreigners. Even the police are amazing! We will have a 10-12 seat van and driver at your disposal and will be taking everyone to Ktm or other places daily. If you have a volunteer gig or need to see a dentist or just do some shopping you will ride in style. Everything is included in the monthly price. I've been here 3 1/2 years and have great referrals to doctors and dentists. You won't believe the price of dental, for example. I just had some dental work done for under $250 that would have cost over $3,000 in the US. And it was state of the art. The SpaceThis brand new, Cat. 9 earthquake safe, guest house with 24 hour electric with a new solar water unit with gas water heating back-up to assure you of hot water. We are located right outside the West Gate of the ancient Hindu temple. It is the oldest Hindu temple still actively used in the Nepal. It is like a step back in time. If you are looking for nightlife of Thamel, this is not for you for two reasons. First, it is a long ride to Thamel, about an hour. Secondly, if you are out that late you would not be able to get a ride home. But if you want a very quiet place where the air is clear and you can almost touch the stars from our rooftop then you will enjoy it. In fact, you would do well to schedule your first night or two here to recover from your trip from the West. We are only about 25 KM from Kathmandu city. Guest AccessWe have a dining room and kitchen for our guests only, not a restaurant for the public. We serve quality, vegetarian breakfast and dinner. You can have just about anything you want; just let us know. Guests are welcome to use our living rooms as their own space for using the WIFI or visiting. We serve organic Nepali coffee all day long-always complimentary. Interaction with GuestsI am always happy to help my guests with information about Nepal and have a box full of tourist brochures, maps and movies about Nepal. I do not have a trekking agency and do not earn any money on my advice except for sales from my eBook, Nepal: A Tourist's Manual, which you can find via web search. You can do a search for FrugalTravelsNepal to find my book and blog. Both are filled with information to help you get the most out of your time in Nepal. The NeighborhoodAlthough still in the Kathmandu Valley, we are a bit higher in elevation. We have beautiful views and clean air. This is an ancient village. Many of the people do not speak English. The people live and dress as they have for generations. They are very friendly and speak the international language of smiles-even when they do not speak your language. Getting AroundWe go to Kathmandu for a day trip each Friday by car. If you stay here 2 nights you are welcome to come along with us for a day of site-seeing for free. There are buses that leave to Bhaktapur & Kathmandu every 30 minutes, all day long. If you come during a full moon there is usually a festival. Some are not so tourist friendly, but others can be the highpoint of your trip. Other Things to NoteThere is a 100 NRs. ($1.) admission donation that you pay to the local village in order to get to the guest house, but will be good for the time you are here in Changunarayan if you are staying at a guest house here. Guest AccessWe have a dining room and kitchen for our guests only, not a restaurant for the public. We serve quality, vegetarian breakfast and dinner. You can have just about anything you want; just let us know. We also have TVs in the living rooms. Guests are welcome to use our living rooms as their own space for using the WIFI or visiting. Interaction with GuestsI am always happy to help my guests with information about Nepal and have a box full of tourist brochures, maps and movies about Nepal. I do not have a trekking agency and do not earn any money on my advice except for sales from my eBook, Nepal: A Tourist's Manual, which you can find via (website hidden) search. Getting AroundAsk us about our $5 round trip to Kathmandu for day trips while you are staying in Changunarayan. Although these trips do not go everyday, we are happy to take you when we have enough passengers to fill the car, usually 2-3 times per week. There are buses that leave to Bhaktapur every 30 minutes, all day long. From there you can go to Kathmandu or just enjoy this ancient city. It is also very beautiful. If you come during a full moon there is usually a festival. Some are not so tourist friendly, but others can be the highpoint of your trip. Other Things to NoteThere is a 100 NRs. ($1.) admission donation that you pay to the local temple in order to get to the guest house, but will be good for the time you are here in Changunarayan if you are staying at a guest house here. This is a UNESCO World Heritage village.
