The SpaceOur charming guest cottage with separate access, consists of a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom (shower, basin, loo). It also has its own bar fridge.
The cottage opens up onto a patio with built in BBQ as well as table and chairs for al fresco dining. The patio overlooks our small garden with views extending across the village of Darling.
The cottage itself does not have any kitchen facilities, but we do provide plates, cutlery and basic kitchen needs, and of course braai grid and wood. Guest AccessIn addition to the cottage, guests have access to their own patio with BBQ facilities, chairs and table. They also have access to our small garden.
Ample free on-street parking is available. Interaction with GuestsWhile our house is right next door to the guest cottage, the cottage itself is a separate building. We are thus available to interact with you as much or as little as you like.
We would be more than happy to advise on local attractions and good day trips but if you have simply come to get away from it all, then you can quite happily keep to yourself. The NeighborhoodWe are located a 5 minute stroll from the centre of Darling, which offers a selections of deli's, restaurants and grocery stores. Other highlights include Evita se Perron, the home theatre of famous South African satirist, Pieter-Dirk Uys as well as Darling Brew, one of South Africa's finest craft breweries.
The area is well known for superb wine. The Darling Wine Shop provides excellent advice whilst there is a tasting room within walking distance of the house, and historic wineries a short drive away. Close by there is an MTB trail, birding route, and olive farm where tastings are given.
Darling is perfectly located to explore the best that the West Coast has to offer.
A 20 minute drive West of the village brings you to the coastal town of Yzerfontein, which offers endless stretches of white beach, perfect for walking or bathing. Further up the coast takes you to the beautiful West Coast National Park offering a stunning lagoon and fields of indigenous fauna and flora.
45 minutes drive east of Darling, is the beautiful hamlet of Riebeeck Kasteel, with its wine farms, restaurants and olive groves. Getting AroundOnce in Darling, everything in the village is accessible by foot. However for both getting to the village and exploring the surrounds, a car is recommended. Other Things to NoteWe do have two small dogs - Polly (Jack Russell) and Gypsy (Jack Russell/Border Collie cross). They would be happy to join you on walks but if you are not a fan of four legged creatures they may be kept well away.
