If you want to prepare food in our kitchen you're more than welcome to do so. Laundry available - you can use our laundry and clothes line for your washing. Our home is designed to take advantage of the views and is very sunny with indoor/outdoor flow. Because we work from home, we have all the typical business technologies available, with wi-fi, printing, scanning etc, should you need access to these. When you stay with us, you're in our home as our guest, leaving as a friend. You can get to the CBD by ferry from Bayswater or Devonport. Walk to Bayswater wharf in about 30 mins or 5 min by bus. We're 3.5 km from Takapuna or Devonport. It's walkable or buses are about 5-10 min walk away. There is a "green route" cycle/walkway to Takapuna or Devonport within 0.5km from our place. Local shops 10 mins walk away include large variety of takeaway meals, including Thai, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Sushi, Chinese, McDonalds, Roast Dinners, Pizza. The Thai Restaurant has great value meals at the north end of the shops. Several varieties of Pizzas are available at the Belmont shops and great takeaway fresh fish and chips available in Bayswater Ave. There's also a fresh vegetable store in this shopping area, where I purchase anything I need, that we haven't grown. You'll also be spoilt for choice with the variety of restaurants available in either Takapana north of us, or Devonport to the south. Plenty of lovely walks around here, around the waterfront of the inner harbour and 3 white sandy beaches within 3 km. Catch the ferry to cross the harbour to the CBD to explore the downtown waterfront loaded with restaurants, cafe's, maritime museum and the Wynyard Quarter. We have extensive knowledge about NZ and Auckland and we look forward to making your stay comfortable. Guest AccessWe have 2 living areas, one lounge "nook" just outside the bedrooms on the second floor and the main lounge, dining, kitchen area, which is open plan, on the ground floor, with a short stair case for access to the second floor. You can push back the ranch sliders in the lounge and enjoy the grass and garden to the north side ( sunny side in NZ!) of the house. Interaction with GuestsWe're guided by our guests as to how much time we spend with them. If people want privacy, the house is large enough to provide this. One of us is generally around, because we work from home. The NeighborhoodThere's something about living on "The North Shore" of Auckland city. We're surrounded by beaches and water, with all the amenities of the big city close at hand. We pinch ourselves sometimes when we realise we're only 15 minutes to the city, but because of our location, we feel we're almost out in the country, because we're not crowded by houses and big buildings around us. Our water view is really special and it's why we fell in love with this location when we first found this property. Getting AroundOnce you book with us, we can send you a list of potential rental cars you can pick up from the airport. While it's possible to get around Auckland using public transport, if you have limited time, you'll see more and get to more places more easily with a vehicle, however you don't have to spend a fortune either. It's still fun to take the ferry in to the city from our side of the harbour and then you don't have to worry about car parking fees which are expensive in the CBD.

The SpaceThis room has a super comfortable double- size bed with quality linen, and a double size closet. Separate & adjacent is the bathroom featuring a fantastic walk-in shower, toilet & washbasin. Swimming at pretty Bayswater Beach Reserve is an easy 5-minute walk from home, popular for water sports. The marina a further 5-minute walk has stunning views of the city, which you can reach via ferry in just 10 minutes or by car in 20-25 minutes. Read on......(or see our other listing, www.airbnb.co.nz/rooms/83095 for a longer stay, or the entire home) Gorgeous northern surf beaches on the Hauraki Gulf a 5 minute drive, en route to motorway connections, North/Southbound. Guest Access> Free WiFi > Use of our lounge with access to the garden, books, and music. > Use of household iron. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy conversation with guests, helping when needed with sight-seeing recommendations and sharing travel experiences over coffee or wine. Mindful of your privacy and this being your holiday or business trip, I aim to do my bit to make it a comfortable experience. As I work from home, I am not available for much daytime conversation during weekdays after breakfast. The NeighborhoodA short walk from our house, take wind-surfing/kite-surfing lessons for an intense adrenalin rush, or drop a kayak into the water (on hire from store) for a paddle around Auckland's Waitemata Harbour or Shoal Bay. Spot dotterils and oyster catchers nesting on sandbars and navigate your way through the water-growing mangrove trees. It's safe to swim here too - so at full tide, pop down the road to the harbour beach and jump in. We have a number of parks here, including a clifftop park overlooking the city and Auckland Harbour Bridge, complete with a shelly petanque area. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT BAYSWATER You could nearly throw a stone across the harbour to the CBD... It takes 10 minutes via ferry and is surrounded by pretty bays. A safe place to unwind for evening walks around the peninsula. At night, Bayswater Marina reflects the central city lights over the harbour - the best view in town! People hoard to this place during fireworks performances for the spectacular skyline view. Bayswater is an old settlement on the Devonport Peninsula. While there were promises of significant commercial and hospitality developments at the nearby marina, 15 years later these have yet to manifest, and seem unlikely to do so, which has meant Bayswater has retained its peace and serenity. You won't find a place quite like this in Auckland. NEARBY Takapuna is 10 minutes away for top restaurants on The Strand, recently redeveloped for a meal with a backdrop of the dormant volcano Rangitoto Island in Auckland's island packed Hauraki Gulf. Devonport, also just 10 minutes away, is the historical hub of Auckland's North Shore - with the old Victoria Theatre, the naval base and defence areas from World War II, along with galleries and upmarket cafes. Explore nearby Narrow Neck Beach, Cheltenham Beach, Torpedo Bay, or climb up the old naval defence bases of Mount Victoria and North Head for the best views of the Waitemata Harbour, Auckland City, Hauraki Gulf and the islands beyond. Getting AroundFROM THE AIRPORT: > Catch the Skybus to Auckland Ferry Terminal Downtown then, catch the Bayswater Ferry (10-minute ride) across Auckland Harbour to Bayswater Marina. I’ll meet you there, or walk to our house in 15 minutes. > Alternatively upon request, I’ll pick you up from Airport, for an extra NZ$45 or $60 for 2 people, each direction. > Driving from Auckland International Airport to Bayswater takes between 45 - 60 minutes, depending on traffic. ONCE YOU ARRIVE: > Ferry: Easy 10-15 minute walk to the ferry. Weekdays the ferry service runs every 30-60 minutes till 9pm and till 11pm on Fridays. Weekends the ferry service only runs every 2-3 hours till 10pm Saturday, and Sundays till 8pm. > Bus: The bus stop is just 50 metres from our home. Buses run every 30 - 60 minutes from early morning to late evening to Takapuna (20-25 minute ride) with connections to the Northern Express (NEX) bus at Smales Farm station north to Albany bus station and south to Downtown Auckland every 10-15 minutes. > Drive: During off-peak traffic, allow 10 minute drive time to Auckland Harbour Bridge and North/Southbound motorway. During peak hours, allow 20 minutes. Again, we recommend the ferry for quick access to the CBD during peak hours.

Interaction with GuestsWe offer a very warm welcome to our comfortable, sunny and modern home in peaceful Bayswater. Here you can relax and feel at home yet still be within easy reach of all that Auckland has to offer. We are always here to help and provide suggestions for your visit to Auckland. We love to travel and enjoy meeting people from all over the world so you will always be welcome to chat with us. If you prefer to be left alone you have plenty of private space too and we won't bother you! We have been running a B&B here for the last 8 years and are very pleased to have received dozens of great reviews from our lovely guests. We look forward to meeting you! The NeighborhoodThe ferry to Auckland city is just at the end of our street - it takes just 10 minutes across the harbour and there you are in downtown Auckland! Devonport is about 5km from here - you can drive there in 5 minutes or walk there in 40-60 minutes (depending on how fast you walk!). Devonport is a pretty village with plenty of cafes and a ferry also runs to the city every half hour. Takapuna is the city centre of the North Shore and is only 5 km from here - shopping mall, cinema, restaurants and bars. We have several beaches on the east coast within a few minutes drive or 30 minutes walk - Takapuna and Narrow Neck beaches are our favourites. Bayswater is a quiet, residential neighbourhood - great to relax and feel like you're away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but it's still easy to get to everything you'd like to experience in and around Auckland. Getting AroundWe'll give you plenty of information about how to get here when you book in with us and also make sure you know how to get around once you're here - we're always happy to help! If you have your own car you can park right up by the house. You can access the motorway going either north or south at Takapuna, about 5 minutes from here. Airport shuttles are easy to pick up at the airport when you arrive and will bring you right here to our front door. You can also get the Skybus to the city - which includes a free shuttle to the ferry terminal - and then come over on the ferry. We can pick you up from the ferry. Bayswater ferry to Downtown Auckland: At the end of our street (about a 10 minute walk). Runs at least every hour during the week and takes 10 minutes. The weekend service is less regular but still runs several times a day and takes a more scenic 20 minute route. Bus to Takapuna: The bus stop is just around the corner from us. Buses run about every hour. Bus to Devonport: The bus stop is up at Belmont - about a 20 minute walk from here. You can also catch a bus to there and then change. Generally, when we're available we can drop you off or pick you up from the ferry or Devonport or Takapuna when needed. Other Things to NoteOur bedrooms are upstairs so may not be easily accessible for people with limited mobility. A light continental breakfast is included. We're happy to do our best to accommodate special dietary requirements - please let us know beforehand. The SpaceUpstairs, this restful L-shaped bedroom features a walk-through master tiled bathroom. A large desk at the big window has views to the treetops and all day sun. Swimming at pretty Bayswater Beach Reserve is an easy 5-minute walk from home, also popular for water sports. The marina a further 5-minute walk has stunning views of the city, which you can reach via ferry in just 10 minutes or by car in 20-25 minutes. Read on......or go to my other listing/637659/ for a cheaper stay. Gorgeous northern surf beaches on the Hauraki Gulf are just a 5 minute drive from here. Guest Access> Free WiFi > Relax in our lounge with books and music, or step into the garden. > Use of our kitchen for light cooking at lunch-time and dinner-time only. The NeighborhoodA short walk from our house, take wind-surfing/kite-surfing lessons for an intense adrenalin rush, or drop a kayak into the water (on hire from store) for a paddle around Auckland's Waitemata Harbour or Shoal Bay. Spot dotterils and oyster catchers nesting on sandbars and navigate your way around this eco protected shoreline. It's safe to swim here too - so at full tide, pop down the road to the beach reserve overlooking the harbour bridge and jump in. We have a number of parks here, including a clifftop park with views of the city, complete with a shelly petanque area. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT BAYSWATER You could nearly throw a stone across the harbour to the CBD... It takes 10 minutes via ferry and is surrounded by pretty bays. It’s a safe place to unwind for evening walks around the peninsula. At night, Bayswater Marina reflects the central city lights over the harbour - the best view in town! People hoard to this place during fireworks performances for the spectacular skyline view. Bayswater is an old settlement on the Devonport Peninsula, established long before the Auckland Harbour Bridge crossing was built in 1961. While there were promises of significant commercial and hospitality developments at the nearby marina, 15 years later these have yet to manifest, and seem unlikely to do so, which has meant Bayswater has retained its peace and serenity. You won't find a place quite like this in Auckland. NEARBY Takapuna is 10 minutes away for top restaurants on the recently redeveloped Strand, with a backdrop of the dormant volcano Rangitoto Island in Auckland's island packed Hauraki Gulf. For another day, Devonport, also just 10 minutes away, is the historical hub of Auckland's North Shore - with the old Victoria Theatre, the naval base and defence areas from World War II, along with galleries and upmarket cafes. Explore nearby beaches on the Hauraki Gulf and the islands beyond. Getting AroundHOW TO GET HERE FROM THE AIRPORT > Catch the Skybus to Auckland Ferry Terminal Downtown, then catch the Bayswater Ferry (10-minute ride) across Auckland Harbour to Bayswater Marina. I’ll meet you there, or walk to our house in 10-15 minutes. > Alternatively upon request, for an extra NZ$45 or $60 for 2 people, each direction, I'll pick you up from the Airport, or drop you off after your stay. > Driving from Auckland International Airport to Bayswater takes between 45 - 60 minutes, depending on traffic. HOW TO GET AROUND ONCE YOU ARRIVE: > FERRY: Easy 10-15 minute walk to the ferry. Weekdays the ferry service runs every 30-60 minutes till 9.10pm and till 11pm on Fridays. Weekends the ferry service only runs every 2-3 hours till 10pm Saturday and Sundays till 8pm.
