The SpaceKerr Street is just a short (and we mean short) stroll around to Devonport Village. Quirky stores, cafe's and a great location to experience the Devonport Village life!!! Kerr Street is furnished to a high standard with a brilliant bathroom which includes gas hot water, underfloor heating and a tiled bathroom. Victoria. Mt. Victoria is literally across the road (a narrow road) from Kerr Street - run or stroll up Mt. Victoria for spectacular views of Auckland Harbour and the Hauraki Gulf. ideal year round for walking and exploring. In the summer nothing is more refreshing after a long day of shopping and exploring then a dip in one of Devonport local beaches. Sky (satellite) television, DVD player, washing machine, dishwasher, gas cook top with electric oven, heaters. Guest AccessKerr is a self contained accommodation - the guest have access to the whole accommodation - the owner does not live on the property. Interaction with GuestsThe owner lives away from Kerr - so there is no immediate interaction.

The NeighborhoodDevonport is a very friendly village with movie theatre, restaurants and cafes aplenty. We are only a short stroll away from fabulous Cheltenham beach or the village in the other direction and the ferry to the city. Devonport is brimming with history and heritage buildings over 100 years old. It is home to the New Zealand Navy and as such the marine presence isn't hard to miss, particularly at the Naval Museum at Torpedo Bay. We are based on the bottom of Mt. Victoria (an extinct volcano!) which has one of the best views of Auckland. A short walk away is North Head (another extinct volcano) with its many paths to walk and historic tunnels which are great to explore. We also have one of the best beaches in Auckland less than a ten minute walk from the house: Cheltenham is a lovely golden sandy beach great for walks and swimming. Devonport is spoilt for great cafes and restaurants and getting a good coffee isn't hard. Whatever type of dining you are into, you can probably find something to suit in Devonport, and failing that the city is on your doorstep. Souvenir hunting isn't hard either, with plenty of variety on offer at the village shops. There's a great supermarket too, post office, chemists, dry cleaners, off licence, and all of the major NZ banks in the village. Getting AroundYou don't need a car to see the local area as we are so central. If you want to relax in Devonport, or commute to the city or Takapuna, then leave the car at home. There is a bus stop for Takapuna across the road and the stop for the village and ferry (if you don't feel like the short walk) is 50m away from the house. There's a fantastic ferry service that will get you into downtown Auckland city in around ten minutes and leaves half hourly during the day, or on the quarter hour at peak times. There's even a direct service to Waiheke if you fancy lunch there or a visit to one of the many wineries. To reach us from the airport the city 'Airbus' will take you to the downtown ferry terminal where you can cross to Devonport and catch the dedicated "meet the ferry" 813 bus from there for the 5 minute trip up the hill. There is plenty of free on road parking if you bring a car. Other Things to NoteThe apartment is stocked with the basics to ensure you can have a cup of tea or coffee when you arrive, there is also washing powder for the washing machine and other necessities on hand.

Devonport, the beautiful village by the sea has it all, and at just 10 minutes ferry ride from Auckland’s CBD it is wonderfully easy to visit. You’ll fall in love with Devonport from the moment you arrive; in fact you may never want to leave! It’s no wonder that Devonport rates so highly on nearly every Kiwi’s “must-do” list and it’s the 4th most visited destination in the Auckland region. Surrounded by the stunning waters of the Waitemata Harbour, Devonport is blessed with boundless natural beauty, from the twin volcanic cones of Mount Victoria and North Head, offering some of the most spectacular views in Auckland, to its superb, safe white sand beaches. Experience the art galleries, cafes, boutique shopping, the history and the delights of all that Devonport has to offer. We were at the Flagstaff gallery the other day and what a place - the owner Cary is friendly and more then happy to help you chose the "right piece" - well worth a visit Auckland is the world’s 5th most liveable city* and Devonport is Auckland’s Crown Jewel. So come on over... you’ll love it! * According to the Lonely Planet Guide Things to Do No visit to Devonport is complete without experiencing all that this village by the sea has to offer. Take time to experience the truly spectacular city and harbour views from the summits of Mt Victoria (Takarunga) and North Head (Takapuna), both of which were Maori Pa sites (fortified villages) and are both still fortresses of sorts today, with the Navy maintaining a presence. Both have gun embankments, bunkers and North Head is riddled with tunnels, many of which are accessible to the public and all dating back to the end of the 19th century. Perhaps a more relaxed pace is more to your liking. Devonport is blessed with five beautiful white sand beaches all within walking distance from Mainstreet. So whether it's relaxing under the striking red flowers of the pohutukawa trees framing Devonport beach, swimming at Torpedo Bay or Cheltenham beach or eating an ice cream at Narrow Neck beach, you're bound to find your perfect spot in the sand. To get a taste of the real Devonport, you're best to take a wander around the local streets, discovering the many heritage buildings and grand 19th century villas that contribute to Devonport's unique charm and character. Most of Devonport can be explored on foot or perhaps you could hire a bicycle or take a fun Segway Tour by Magic Broomstick Tours. Alternatively Devonport Tours operates organized mini bus tours departing from the ferry building. Devonport has always attracted a wide and diverse range of artists, writers, poets and craftspeople that live work and display their wares here. The numerous galleries - displaying oils and watercolours, glass art, ceramics and just about every media imaginable - combine with studios open to public viewing, bespoke jewellery manufacturers and a quirky craft market, to cement Devonport's place as Urban Arts Village and Arts centre of Auckland. DEVONPORT IS THE PLACE TO VISIT AND TO STAY

Guest AccessTotally Self Contained The NeighborhoodWonderful heritage buildings, spectacular scenery, stunning beaches... Auckland is the world’s 5th most liveable city* and Devonport is Auckland’s Crown Jewel.
