The SpaceLocated just 2 km from Christchurch city centre, my home is the perfect place for you to base yourself before you start your adventure of New Zealand's South Island. Your accommodation is located in a 1920s style villa. My house is quiet, peaceful, private and full of character. I even have an organic vegetable garden along with several fruit trees. I have travelled extensively so I know what it feels like to be a stranger in a new place. I can recommend many good cafes and restaurants and can even take you to some if you wish. I can cook for you, we can cook together or we can cook separately. what ever you prefer. While you are here my house is your house. so you can just relax and make yourself right at home We are conveniently located close to Palms Shopping Mall, where you will be able to find anything extra you need to make your stay at my home more comfortable. There are other shops and cafes a short walk away as well. The daily fee covers tea, coffee, milk, sugar etc and a light breakfast. If you require a more substantial breakfast there will be a small charge for that. Some people prefer to make their own breakfast. Towels and sheets are provided free of charge. If you are arriving by car, there is no off street parking available. However your car should be safe parked on the street outside my house. We are situated on the bus route. One bus takes you right into the city. Buses also run around the perimeter of the city.. the orbiter... and across the city without going into the middle... the metro star. All these buses stop at a bus stop about 100 meters from my house. A shuttle from the Airport to my house costs about $30. I can pick you up and drop you off at the Airport if required. Known as being the Gateway to the South Island, Christchurch is still a beautiful city despite the recent earthquakes. There are many parks and gardens to explore and the city is known for its Arts and Crafts influence. Other places worth seeing are the Restart mall, a shopping precinct built from shipping containers and the Cardboard cathedral Many people enjoy boating or punting on the Avon river. Many people like to see the earthquake damage and there is still lots of that to see. Trips to New Brighton or Sumner Beaches are nice as is a drive through the tunnel to Lyttelton a quaint Port town. There are many interesting Markets and Farmers markets on from Friday to Sunday . they are always fun to go to. If you use the street view to look at my house it is on the corner of Julius Terrace and Chancellor Street. . There is washing on the line!!!. This street view is about 3 years old. I know this because all the chimneys fell down in the September 2010 Earthquake.Your room looks out over Julius Terrace and the small stream.Julius Terrace is a cul de sac with 5 houses so very quiet. If you are wanting to venture out of the city to do some exploring, why not use my home as a base while you take day trips to places such as Hanmer Springs, Akaroa and New Zealand's Eco Capital, Kaikoura. I can tell you many great places to go if you are undecided. I hope to meet you soon! Guest AccessGuests have access to the bedroom, the bathroom the kitchen, the lounge, the toilet and the grounds Interaction with GuestsI can interact as much as you want me to. Some people want to talk a lot, other people are more private The NeighborhoodThis neighbourhood is close to town close to the beach close to main arterial routes and close to shops. It is an older part of Christchurch, has many character houses and lots of trees. I can walk along a stream to the shops . The stream bank has many beautiful trees. Getting AroundI can see the bus stop from my front door. It is about 100 metres away. I am about 6 stops from town centre. My suburb, Richmond, is the first suburb going North east from City centre. Other Things to NotePreferable stay is at least 2 nights. No single men please. $15 surcharge for 1 night stays Flexible check in and check out can be negotiated.

A taxi is $30 from the airport, $20 to the airport, a shuttle is $17 per person, and the bus is $8.50 directly to the airport, or $3.50 if you walk the last 300 metres out of or into the airport. 2 Bedrooms are available in a comfortable home. The first room consists of one Double Bed, with 2 single beds in the second. To book just one room, click on my photo on the right, and go to the end of the page, and both my listings will appear on the left. I am happy to host 1 to 4 guests at any one time, and if you need beds for 5 or 6, I may be able to accommodate you. The rooms are available for up to 11 nights, as I have my kids every second weekend. All rooms have a shared bathroom, however there is a separate toilet. Not only are we located close to the Airport, but we are also conveniently located close to a range of public transport routes, including the bus to and from the airport, which runs from about 6am until 11pm, and stops about 200 metres from my house. If you have a car, there is free on road parking. I have no problem with guests arriving late, the last flight into Christchurch arrives about 12.30 am (00.30am), and I am happy to have guests off that flight, who usually get here about 1.30am. Early departures are also fine, many guests leave at around 5am for a 6.30am flight. There is no strict check out time, so if you get in late (4am is my record so far) you are welcome to sleep in and move on when you are ready, subject to any arriving guests needs, which I will inform you of if relevant. The SpaceI HAVE MOVED FROM THIS HOUSE ON 11th/4/12... NEW CHCH ADDRESS TO COME. ********************************************************************************************** Stay a day or stay for weeks or even months.. The price is lower so you can get out and spend more on the things you really want to do instead of spending it all on accommodation. I have a fully furnished 3 bdm home, with two rooms available for guests, 1 queen, 1 single (or by arrangment for 2 couples) Home cooked bread, traditional kiwi roasts, or cook something from your own country and surprise everyone else :) Laze in the sunny back yard enjoying the peace and quiet regardless of a busy city area and if its still summer.. Relax in the pool. Warm and friendly environment where you can just chill out and feel like you're at home but miles away. All mod cons, comfortable beds, cute cat that just makes you smile and a fun hostess that enjoys getting out showing guests around or just chilling with a glass of wine with others who enjoy the same. I like having guests in my home, and have had upto 12 people here at one time.. It's big and roomy and light so if you just want to chill reading a book, you wont strain your eyes. Wether it's one guest or 3, I will help your stay to be pleasant and relaxing before you go exploring the rest of the country :) Close to city centre yet far enough from all the danger zones (refer to Chch NZ Earthquakes 2010 an 2011) my house is strong and comfortable, very warm and friendly... And still standing regardless of the twisting it’s had to endure. Non smokers preferred. Although my house is attached to block of flats, it is surprisingly larger than realised.. Many International travelers have stayed and love it here, often returning before leaving the country. I am also a member of couchsurfing with good international references. Bookings on short notice will have extra fee :)

Well, there is the Restart Mall and a few buildings left and the river Avon! A few more buildings to come down then the rebuild for the city will really get started. There are a few new buildings and of course many open spaces, which have been filled by what some locals are calling 'Gap fillers'. At least the Town Hall is staying to be repaired at a great cost to many! The town is forever changing daily. The Cardboard Cathedral is replacing the Original Christchurch Cathedral which was 'munted' in the 2011 EQ. in the City Centre. Interesting! 2 Blocks from Northlands Shopping Mall, which includes 2 supermarkets and many more shops, and boutiques. There is parking outside my property and is safe at night. There is a public transport system into the centre of Christchurch (The Donut- as it is now called) as it is empty inside and all happening around the outskirts. The No 125 bus goes every 15 minutes and leaves from a block away to go the airport. This takes about 15 -20 minutes depending on traffic and costs about $3.50! I can give advice about some of my favourite places in Christchurch and many other cities in the south island. Getting AroundThere is a bus route a 5 minute walk from my house, I also have off street parking if you have a car or the car can be parked on the street safely overnight. If you happen to arrive on one of my days off I can collect you from the airport and/or drop you off, please just ask. Other Things to NoteI have three cats and three chickens, my chooks are kept in an enclosure when we are working and while we are home we let the girls out to free range the garden. If you do not like chickens please let me know and I can keep them in the enclosure during your stay. My cats come and go at all times of the day or night, they are nosey so might jump on your bed for a pat or to say hi if this is a problem I suggest staying elsewhere or closing your bedroom door. We had a new addition to the family in September of this year, our first child so we have a little one in the house which may change your mind on wanting to stay at our house.

The SpaceUnlimited WiFi plan means you can use the internet whenever you wish, from your room or anywhere in the house and garden. Please be aware this is a busy Airbnb house, especially in summer. 6-8 people from different countries are all sharing 1 bathroom and 1 kitchen (and 1 extra outside Toilet House). It works fine for most people, the house is clean and peaceful! In the large garden, a barbecue and outdoor picnic table are available to make the most of fine weather. Guest AccessYou will have access to a shared bathroom with shower, basin, toilet, and heatlamp. Bring your own toiletries. Soap, hand-towels and bathmats are always available In the kitchen you will find a washing machine and dryer. Bring your own washing powder for the washer. Interaction with GuestsI will be around every 2-3 days, and happy to help with any requests for information. If any issues arise, text me! The NeighborhoodWhat makes Addington such a special place? Is it the people, the tree lined streets, the closeness to the city and Hagley Park? For some it is the local Churches, or the many little parks dotted around the place, and the many historic houses. Then we have the Addington Cemetery, the Historic Walkway, and Church Square right in the heart of Addington. There is lots of life in the shops on Lincoln Road with the mix of little and big business, the great choice of cafés, restaurants and bars. And for travellers wanting to save money in a big way, there are the Salvation Army family stores... Getting AroundThere are a couple of really useful bus routes. If you need a taxi, the company I recommend is First Direct, they are cheaper, have the newest and cleanest cars, and the drivers are friendly and polite. From my house to the airport may cost $35. Other Things to NoteThere is a little shop at each end of the street, 3-5 minutes walk from the house, next to the bus stop. It is open from approx 7am to 8pm, seven days a week. You can buy basics like bread, milk, and all kinds of snacks and junk food here! Pac'n'Save (the cheapest!) and Countdown supermarkets are 15 minutes walk away.
