The SpaceOur warm, 8 yr old, self contained cottage, has 2 bedrooms - one with a queen size bed, the other with 2 single beds. A pull-out sofa bed for extra guests is located in the lounge room. Quality linen and towels are provided.

-children between age 2 and 12 years are NOT free, please remember we are supplying breakfast and a farm tour to everyone who is booked.
The cottage is heated with a heat pump and has instant gas hot water heating, electric blankets on the beds.

***A daily continental breakfast is included with your stay - you only need to prepare it at a time that suits you.
The kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, fridge and all the essentials you will need to prepare your evening meal.
A complimentary brief farmyard tour to meet and hand feed our pet sheep, calves and alpaca is available in the afternoon of your arrival, at an agreed time, usually between 4 & 7pm. Due to the fact that we are very busy in the mornings this tour is only available in the afternoon. We also have farm dogs and chickens.
Relax on the balcony in the evening and enjoy the amazing night sky which the MacKenzie District is renowned for.
Our farm carries at times aprox 4000 sheep, 300 cattle, and we grow some
cereal crops . Guest AccessThe cottage is separate from our home so you have your own privacy and direct access including parking.
As a guest you are welcome to enjoy our gardens and admire the spectacular surroundings. Our home is off-limits to guests, and the farm is by guided tour only. Interaction with GuestsWith many years of local knowledge we are more than happy to interact with our guests and help with any travel arrangements and suggestions. However if you just want to relax and enjoy your privacy that is fine with us too. The NeighborhoodThe nearby rural town of Fairlie has a population of approximately 800 people. It's a small, but friendly community. You will find many amenities including a medical centre, pharmacy, grocery shop, petrol stations and an assortment of tourist shops. The world famous "Fairlie Bakery" is definitely worth a visit, their famous Lieber pies are produced using some of the areas finest meats, including Salmon, beef, and lamb.
Be sure and check-out the statue on the main street of Fairlie, of James Mackenzie and his dog 'Friday'(famous sheep stealer whom the Mackenzie area is named after). The local museum is also worth a visit.
During winter go skiing at Mt Dobson.
Lake Opuha is 20 minutes away - great for boating and fishing.
Have a bash at the Fairlie Golf Course.
Lake Tekapo is 40 minutes away - a popular tourist town with spectacular mountain and lake views, a quaint Stone Church, Ice-Skating, Hot pools, Mt John Observatory. Getting AroundSelf drive/F.I.T. guests only. Not suitable for those without their own transport. Other Things to NoteWe are located 10 minutes from Fairlie which is a small rural service town, located 1/2 way between Christchurch and Queenstown, making it a convenient stopover.
While a continental breakfast is included in your stay you will need to make provisions for your evening meal. There is a small supermarket in Fairlie as well as 2 restaurants, and cafes.
If you are keen on mountain biking, and have your bikes with you, we have a number of farm tracks available to use, however this is dependent on farm activities, so please enquire at time of booking (no charge)
