The SpaceTaryn is solar-powered, fully off-the-grid, so you can experience how comfortable life is without electricity bills! Guest AccessGuests have access to the immediate surrounds of the house and the adjoining hay paddock. The rest of the farm is grazed by animals and not available for walks. The lake is not suitable for swimming - it is there for you to enjoy looking at. Interaction with GuestsWe do not live in Burkes Pass but are available at check-in and check-out and can provide support when necessary via phone or email. We are available to assist if needed but please be aware it is one hour's drive from our home to Taryn. The nearest shops are in Fairlie and Tekapo, each about 15 minutes drive away. Getting AroundLake Tekapo is 15 minutes drive away from Burkes Pass.     Starry Night is in the heart of the Mackenzie Country just 12 minutes drive from Lake Tekapo and 4 minutes from Mt Dobson access road. Burkes Pass is a small heritage township on the main route to Lake Tekapo and Queenstown. In the winter months there is skiing (Mt Dobson, Fox Peak and Roundhill) and the popular Tekapo Springs (hot pools, snow tubing and ice skating). In summer, temperatures sore and there are plenty of lakes nearby to boat and swim in (Opuha, Tekapo, Benmore). Starry Night's huge deck and lawns make a great holiday location for families during the summer months. Starry Night is a great holiday destination all year round and just far enough out of Tekapo to be out of the tourist market. Star gazing in Burkes Pass is amongst the best in the world - come and enjoy it from our outdoor cedar hot tub! Special conditions: No moving furniture around. The rate is for 2 persons. All extra persons must be included in the booking request, including babies and children. Check in from 3pm and checkout before 11am. Maximum of 6 persons (including babies, children) per night.       Sawdon Station a high country sheep station in the Mackenzie Country, farms 6000 merino sheep, and is growing the beautiful lupin plant for stock food. This homestead is almost 100 years old, and has been lovingly decorated inside, and we would like to share with you. This house is 10 kilometres from Lake Tekapo and 10 km from Burkes Pass - just as you come into the beautiful Mackenzie country. It is located with an old woolshed and sheds, and stable. This is a beautiful location to get away from the stress of life and enjoy the farming environment, with walks and mountain biking. Farm Tours offered with accommodation. STAY FOR FOUR NIGHTS FOR THE PRICE OF THREE, VALUE OF FREE NIGHT IS $260(some special conditions apply). This house has a large farm kitchen, pantry, two toilets, large claw foot bath, 4 bedrooms, large office, outside furniture located in a beautiful sun trap. Also large trees to seek shade. The homestead has an excellent log burner, and a Heat Pump. Excellent internet. Great location for two families, extended families, wedding location, corporate groups.         This cottage is the old rabbit house built by NZ gvt back in the day controlling the rabbit population. Nestled in the foothills of the two thumb range halfway between Fairlie and Lake Tekapo now a happy holiday home close to both Mt. Dobson and Roundhill ski fields in the winter and numerous lakes, mountains and walking tracks the rest of the year round .         The SpaceOur warm, 8 yr old, self contained cottage, has 2 bedrooms - one with a queen size bed, the other with 2 single beds. A pull-out sofa bed for extra guests is located in the lounge room. Quality linen and towels are provided. **PLEASE NOTE: -Children 0 - 2 years old = FREE -children between age 2 and 12 years are NOT free, please remember we are supplying breakfast and a farm tour to everyone who is booked. The cottage is heated with a heat pump and has instant gas hot water heating, electric blankets on the beds. ***Wifi (Unlimited) is available ***A daily continental breakfast is included with your stay - you only need to prepare it at a time that suits you. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, fridge and all the essentials you will need to prepare your evening meal. A complimentary brief farmyard tour to meet and hand feed our pet sheep, calves and alpaca is available in the afternoon of your arrival, at an agreed time, usually between 4 & 7pm. Due to the fact that we are very busy in the mornings this tour is only available in the afternoon. We also have farm dogs and chickens. Relax on the balcony in the evening and enjoy the amazing night sky which the MacKenzie District is renowned for. Our farm carries at times aprox 4000 sheep, 300 cattle, and we grow some cereal crops . However if you just want to relax and enjoy your privacy that is fine with us too. The NeighborhoodThe nearby rural town of Fairlie has a population of approximately 800 people. It's a small, but friendly community. You will find many amenities including a medical centre, pharmacy, grocery shop, petrol stations and an assortment of tourist shops. The world famous "Fairlie Bakery" is definitely worth a visit, their famous Lieber pies are produced using some of the areas finest meats, including Salmon, beef, and lamb. Be sure and check-out the statue on the main street of Fairlie, of James Mackenzie and his dog 'Friday'(famous sheep stealer whom the Mackenzie area is named after). The local museum is also worth a visit. During winter go skiing at Mt Dobson. Lake Opuha is 20 minutes away - great for boating and fishing. Have a bash at the Fairlie Golf Course. Lake Tekapo is 40 minutes away - a popular tourist town with spectacular mountain and lake views, a quaint Stone Church, Ice-Skating, Hot pools, Mt John Observatory. Getting AroundSelf drive/F.I.T. guests only. Not suitable for those without their own transport. Other Things to NoteWe are located 10 minutes from Fairlie which is a small rural service town, located 1/2 way between Christchurch and Queenstown, making it a convenient stopover. While a continental breakfast is included in your stay you will need to make provisions for your evening meal. There is a small supermarket in Fairlie as well as 2 restaurants, and cafes. If you are keen on mountain biking, and have your bikes with you, we have a number of farm tracks available to use, however this is dependent on farm activities, so please enquire at time of booking (no charge)

        The SpacePlease note that the bedroom is very compact, with TWO SINGLE BEDS only. It started life as a 20 foot container - so you can work out exactly how big it is! (It's quite compact). There is no additional room for cots or camp stretchers, so please don't try to squeeze in children or extra people into this space. 2 people MAX really does mean only TWO people total - children, little people, skinny teenagers or otherwise all count as people! ;-) The Container sleep-out includes a private en suite with full sized shower, toilet and handbasin. You will be provided with bed linen and towels. There is heaps of parking at this rural lifestyle property. Ideal for a cheap bed for the night, with proper full size shower in the ensuite. Could be good for those travelling in a small campervan without bathroom facilities, and in need of a decent shower! Breakfast is not provided. There are NOT any "proper" kitchen facilities, but there is an electric jug, toaster and Microwave oven (But no refrigerator) in the sleep-out. Some crockery and cutlery are provided, so you can easily have a cup of tea and a light cereal breakfast there if you wish. Feel free to use the outside picnic table too if the weather is nice :-) PLEASE NOTE: you are renting the container sleep-out only. There may be other guests at the main lodge, so please respect their privacy and do not enter the lodge. Thank you. Guest AccessYou have access to the "Container" i.e. the sleep-out / studio bedroom and ensuite bathroom. You can also enjoy the gardens and grounds too. The NeighborhoodThis is a rural property situated on large grounds and surrounded by farmland. It is out in the country away from traffic and people! Very quiet and peaceful. * SAFETY NOTE: There are unfenced streams nearby. For safety, children must be supervised at all times. Please stay out of the area beyond the Keep Out sign, which has been marked off with red tape across the track * It is only 4km from the lovely rural town of Fairlie. The nearest supermarket is there and petrol stations and other services. Nearby Lake Tekapo is a popular tourist destination, just 30 minutes drive from here (about 45 km). Lake Opuha is close by - just carry on down Clayton Road a short distance (about 10 minutes by car) and you will see it on your right. Getting AroundThere isn't any public transport. You will need your own transportation. There is a huge off road parking area beside the lodge - room for 3 or 4 cars and even a campervan. From Christchurch airport it is about 2.5 hours drive by car. From Queenstown allow about 3.5 hours. The popular Lake Tekapo is about 30 mins drive (45km) from here. Other Things to NotePlease be mindful that there could be guests in the nearby Aviator's Lodge building - only about 20 meters separation. Please be respectful of other guests' privacy, and space. Do not enter the main lodge building please. Breakfast is not provided.

When the pool is running have a dip. Getting AroundThere is no public transport to our home your own car is essential. There is plenty of parking at the front of our house. Other Things to NoteThis is a working farm so some mornings we may be up and about early, very quietly!

        The SpaceThis is camping in total comfort without the drudgery of dragging everything along with you. We provide solar lamps, a proper queen size bed with clean linen, bedding & towels and lounge seats for your comfort. You have your own chemical/flushable toilet, camp kitchen (gas burner and BBQ) with utensils & crockery, and private outdoor shower. Guests must bring their own food that can be cooked on a gas burner or BBQ. Chilly bins available for items that need keeping cool. We are approximately 20-30 minute drive to the nearest shop which closes at 7pm, so ensure that you bring your own food along. This is an off grid experience which enhances the camping aspect. Mobile reception is minimal/non-existent. Mobiles and devices can, however, be charged up at the hosts' log cabin. Interaction with GuestsGuests will be met by hosts. Stargazing through a telescope guided by host will be available on request and weather permitting. Also dependent upon host's schedule. The NeighborhoodWe are in the heart of farming land, 45 minutes from Tekapo, 15 minutes from Fairlie and 40 minutes from Timaru. We are situated off the main tourist route so you get to experience real NZ. In Albury (6km) is the Albury Tavern which serves food in the evenings, Thursday to Sunday only.
