The SpaceWe have x2 double rooms available both with ensuites, kitchenettes and private entrances. These would be ideal for people travelling together or a family. This listing relates to renting both rooms, however you can also rent them separately -please see our other listings for this option, or to read about each room in more detail. The house itself is situated in the newer part of Halswell and overlooks a small lake with large recreation ground. The area and our home were also not largely effected by the Earthquakes, so you are in as safe a place as any in Chch! Both rooms include; > Kitchenette; microwave, fridge, hot plate, mini bench oven, kettle, toaster, tea and coffee and essentials e.g. plates and cutlery. > Ensuite; Both have toilet and basin, and one room has a shower, the other room has exclusive use of the shower in the main bathroom. > Bedroom; Queen bed, electric blanket, TV, single wardrobe, heater, chair, drawers, sideboard, smoke alarm, private entrance, Wi-Fi. We have two lounges in the main part of the house and the formal lounge shown in the photos will be available for guests to use if they wish. You can also use the laundry by arrangement which can be helpful if you are traveling, and there is an iron and ironing board available. We have had many short and long term boarders in the past, and are pretty flexible about arrangements. Our family consists of the two of us (Liz and Gordon) and our newest edition who is a young Schnauzer called Amber. There are a couple of bus stops close by and a very regular service into the central city and surrounds. It's about a 20min drive to the airport (you can easily get a shuttle for $20 if required), and 15mins to the CBD.

The house itself is situated in the newer part of Halswell and overlooks a small lake with a large recreation ground. It's hard to believe you are living in suburbia with so much natural space around, and is perfect for an evening walk. The area and our home were also not largely affected by the Earthquakes, so you are in as safe a place as any in Chch! We have had many short and long term boarders in the past, and are pretty flexible about arrangements - so if you would like an evening meal we can certainly provide this at a little extra cost, as sometimes it is nice to be apart of a bigger family when you are away from home. The SpaceThe Space Double room available for singles or couples. Queen size bed, heater, bedside cabinet, wardrobe with hanging space and drawers. We enjoy meeting our Guests, and assure them of a warm welcome on arrival, and as much help as we can offer during their stay. Buses leave for the City Centre from outside the property, every half-hour, and back of course. We are in a quiet neighborhood, with safe off street parking outside. The SpaceA perfect alpine getaway for families and groups wanting to experience farm life and the panoramic Lake Coleridge region only 100kms from CHCH city. Lamb feeding and handling is a highlight with children in the spring months (mid October - mid December). The Quarters are also ideal for guided tour groups wishing to have overnight accommodation after a Middle Rock farm tour. The Shearers' Quarters consist of a main building and 2 exterior cabins. Inside the main building, each of the 4 bedrooms can be made up as doubles (kingsize) or with twin beds. There is one en suite bedroom with two other bathrooms shared between 3 bedrooms. Full laundry facilities and BBQ available. Also a porta cot and high chair for infants and a sofa bed in the living area could sleep an additional 2 people. The cabins are bedrooms only. Outside there is a large lawn area and plenty of room for car parking. Pricing is $60 for adults, $40 for children of school age or younger, under 2's are free. A minimum charge of $180 per night applies. Groups booking the complex have exclusive use and will not have to share the facility with any other guests. Linen is included with this booking. Guest AccessA working sheep farm with an abundance of farm tracks suitable for walking and biking. Handy to Mt Hutt, Mt Olympus and Porter Heights ski fields. Lake Coleridge and the Rakaia River close by for fishing and boating activities. Terrace Downs golfing resort is only 5kms away. Meals are also available at Terrace Downs. No public transport is available. Other Things to NoteThere are no shops available in the locality. Guests are advised to purchase supplies before arriving in the area. Cell phone coverage is also limited but the Quarters do have WiFi and a land line phone available.

The SpaceThe apartment has 3 parts the bedroom with a queen bed, linen and towels provided. A bathroom with shower and sink and a lounge and kitchen all tastefully furnished so you will be comfortable during your stay. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to send us an email with your query. Guest AccessAccess to you accommodation is at the end of a u shaped driveway. Easy access to the house and a nice bench outside which collects lots of sun. Interaction with GuestsThe owner of the main house will either be in the house or accessible by phone at any time. We will always be happy to answer any questions you have about making you stay in Canterbury an enjoyable one as we love the region and really want you to enjoy your time here. Your privacy and space will also always be considered and respected during your time with us, we will be guided by you! The NeighborhoodIn prebbleton village there is a dairy, a nice restaurant called The Bridge and takeaway shops. Two doors down is a lovely cafe set in a villa called Thyme cafe Getting Around100m from bus stop which takes you directly to Lincoln, Lincoln university, Riccarton where there is a large Westfield Mall or the city centre and bus exchange. It take about 15 min to get to Christchurch city centre on the motorway and is close to the turn off to Akaroa.

The SpaceOur home was purpose built to include this self contained room, so you will have your own entry/exit and bathroom for privacy, but also access to the house to socialise if you prefer. We also over-look Westlake Reserve, which makes for a nice recluse from the city. The NeighborhoodWe are located in the newer part of Halswell overlooking Westlake Reserve - a large 11 hectare reserve with sports-fields, a man-made lake & playground. It's a safe family orientated area, with a small local shopping centre (including supermarket) 5min drive or 20mins walk away. Getting AroundWe are 10mins from the city, 15mins from the airport. Buses run regularly with a bus-stop a quick walk away. Halswell/Westlake were also not largely effected by the Earthquakes, so you are in as safe a place as any in Chch! The Airport bus is the 125 to Westlake- or we may be able to pick you up depending on the arrival times & our work hours. Other Things to NoteOur studio may have different bedding as we change the top cover for dry cleaning or from summer to winter. But we keep a high standard what ever we do.

The SpaceWe have 3 bedrooms down the private, south wing of our house - each with a queen bed. Suits up to 3 couples or families (up to 6 people). There is also a single bedroom at the front of the house. Guests have two private bathrooms to themselves (two showers, two toilets, one bath). Private and quiet – great for guests who want to experience rural Canterbury while still being close to the city and airport. We are located on the undamaged southern outskirts of the city between Hornby and Rolleston. We are surrounded by farms with cattle, horses and crops. Guests can enjoy the rural surroundings, with the benefit of a short 15-20 minute drive (15 kms) to either the Christchurch Airport or City Centre. The NeighborhoodWe live in a peaceful rural setting with 20 arces of land right on the edge of the city. Experience the best of both worlds. As we are located in the country, the closet suburbs are an 8 minute drive away. Both Hornby and Rolleston have shopping centres, restaurants, bars supermarkets, drug stores, etc. However, to experience the true Christchurch we would recommend driving for 15 – 20 minutes on the Southern Motorway in the City Centre (High Street, re:Start Container Mall and Victoria Street are our favourite places). We are centrally located to the Canterbury Skifields (1hr 15min drive to the top of Mount Hutt) and Akaroa (1hr 15min hour drive). Guests enjoy walking the back country roads in the evening to take in the scenery. Getting AroundOur guests have all had their own rental car, which has made it easy to reach our house. We have plenty of off-street parking. The nearest suburbs of Hornby and Rolleston are both 8km away (or 8 minute drive). Buses are available in both Rolleston and Hornby. We are happy to provide some transport on an agreed basis for an extra fee (e.g airport pick up/drop off). A corporate taxi to the airport is approximately $40-50 NZD.

River Retreat is a 10 acre property located in Coalgate, inland Canterbury. We have lovely views of the Malvern hills and the Selwyn River is at the end of the property. 40 mins from Christchurch Airport and a beautiful and peaceful place to stop for a night or two on your travels around NZ. Only 30 mins to the Mt Hutt access road for winter skiers/snowboarders. The beautiful Hororata golf course is next door. Go walking, ballooning or jetboat the stunning Rakaia and Waimakariri Gorges.

    Our house is so quiet in its lovely rural setting (in the middle of a farm), only an orchestra of birdsong "disturbing" the peace, along with occasional stock farming sounds. Contemporary NZ art lines the walls, and the garden is often full of flowers. Access to so many things is so easy, with clear mountain rivers, lakes, and the sea all being within an hour's drive. Local service town, Darfield, with doctors, workshops, 3 restaurants etc, just 10 mins away, and Christchurch airport 50 mins, centre 1 hour away. Equidistant for skiing at Mount Hutt or the Craigieburn Range, so choose your field, and choose your day! About an hour either way. At least 10 golf courses within an hour, including the picturesque Hororata Golf Club 10 mins and Terrace Downs 40 mins away.

We are 10 minutes from Darfield which has a supermarket, petrol stations, restaurants as well as ski hire. Also wineries not far from here either, Getting AroundThere is public transport to this area - the stop is about 10 minutes walk from my house - I would be happy to transport to this area if required Other Things to NoteI am only 15-20 minutes from Christchurch International Airport and 15-20 minutes from the city centre. Hornby is about 6km away and provides all you could need in the way of supermarkets, banks, Shopping Centres. The Golden Mile Tavern at Templeton serves good food at reasonable prices. Getting AroundThere is a bus run from Rolleston to the City and back hourly within walking distance. (Metro yellow bus number 820). Collection and return is available to and from the airport by arrangement for $25 each way (between 10pm and 6am $40) Other Things to NoteBonnie, One of our Hosts Dog, is good at her job of barking to warn us of new arrivals and also giving and receiving hugs and cuddles. She is very well behaved and friendly.

        The SpaceThe caravan kitchen is fully equipped for a comfortable stay. A gas heated outdoor shower and flushing toilet are situated down a small path in the forest. Muesli, bagels, tea and coffee provided to assemble at your leisure for breakfast in the kitchenette. Please advise any dietary requirements. Guest AccessOutside the caravan is a small deck with outdoor seating and a BBQ. A fire-bath is available on request. Washing machine and dryer/clothesline available for a small fee. You are welcome to explore our enormous garden, meet the chickens and bounce on the trampoline. You can also pick fruit from the trees in season and help yourself to herbs etc. Interaction with GuestsI am home most days with two pre-schoolers and available to give local advice. The NeighborhoodTai Tapu is a lovely, scenic area close to the Port Hills. All the amenities are in Halswell which is only 3km away, but we are surrounded by farmland. There are a couple of really nice cafes nearby, plenty of cycling to be done, a brand new library, supermarket and 2 banks. Getting AroundThe nearest bus stop is 3km away, best to drive/cycle. We are only 20mins drive from the CBD, 1hr from Akaroa and the peninsula and only 30mins drive from lovely beaches. 25mins drive from the airport. This is the best of both worlds, rural outlook but still super handy to the city. Plenty of free parking onsite. Other Things to NoteThe nearest bus stop is 3km away, best to drive/cycle.           Our house is so quiet in its lovely rural setting (in the middle of a farm), only an orchestra of birdsong "disturbing" the peace, along with occasional stock farming sounds. Contemporary NZ art lines the walls, and the garden is often full of flowers. Access to so many things is so easy, with clear mountain rivers, lakes, and the sea all being within an hour's drive. Local service town, Darfield, with doctors, workshops, 3 restaurants etc, just 10 mins away, and Christchurch airport 50 mins, centre 1 hour away. Equidistant for skiing at Mount Hutt or the Craigieburn Range, so choose your field, and choose your day! About an hour either way. At least 10 golf courses within an hour, including the picturesque Hororata Golf Club 10 mins and Terrace Downs 40 mins away.

                  The SpaceWe have 3 rooms to let. The first two rooms are situated in the house. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed with a ranch slider out onto the deck with a lovely view of the garden. Bedroom 2 has a king single bed. Both these rooms will share the main bathroom if both occupied. Bedroom 3 is what I call the Loft room. Please see my other listing for Sully's Loft. If you prefer this room then you will have to book it there. It is separate from the house and is above the garage. It is a lovely warm room, has a jug, tea, coffee etc, with a toilet and shower downstairs in the garage. This room is big enough to throw a stretcher or 3 down for young children. So if privacy is what you are after then this room might suit you better. There is Wi Fi now available in all rooms. At this stage we do not have TV's in the bedrooms. You are very welcome to share the TV in the Lounge. Guest AccessAll guests can access any part of the property. Children welcome. I'm sure they would love to pat the pet cow Sully, see the calves, goats and the horses. Our 3 fox terrier cross dogs are all in-side dogs. They are a bit noisy when guests arrive. Our in built security system so to speak but that's all they do. So, if you don't like dogs then this is obviously not the place for you. Very sorry about that!! Interaction with GuestsWe have 5 horses. Depending on length of stay, the weather, and if you are here during a weekend, we could offer horse riding to. Not terribly exciting riding around here but fine for a 2 hour hack around the block. If anyone is interested in doing more then we could load the horses on the truck and head out to the beach. Need at least half a day for this and obviously there will be a charge per person. I would need at least a weeks notice to organise something like this. We own a dairy farm 4 km's away and would be happy to take guests down there to see the cows being milked etc. The NeighborhoodWe are only 4 km's off state highway 1. It is a predominately a dairy farming community with a little bit of cropping and sheep. Getting AroundUnfortunately there is no public transport walking distance away. I know there is a bus that runs from Christchurch to Invercargill daily and can be caught in Dunsandel or Rakaia. Other Things to NoteWe are situated approximately 30 minutes from Hornby, Christchurch, 35 minutes from Christchurch Airport and 30 minutes from Ashburton. There are a couple of local pubs, Dunsandel, (New owners with a revamped restaurant that looks amazing), and two in Rakaia, The Railway and The South, both do really good pub food. About 20 minutes up the road towards Christchurch is Rolleston. There is a nice pub there and an Indian and Pizza place so no shortage of great local eating establishments. We are also only about 40 minutes from Mt Hutt for skiing.

We are 10 minutes drive to Dunsandel which again has a country pub for lunch and dinner and a lovely café for great coffee and breakfast. 20 minutes away is Lincoln and Rolleston, slightly larger towns that offer a range of restaurants and take away foods. Head further east and you are at the coast or Lake Ellesmere (South Island largest lake). There are lots of lovely walks in this area. Please ask for further info.                   The SpaceUpstairs is an attic space. Room 1 has a lot of space, although there is a sloping roof that constricts some movement space. There is also a lot of lighting from both the skylight and the small window. The room can hold two beds, has a built in heater and mirror and clothing space is provided. Room 2 is smaller but roof isn't as steep as room 1 and has a storage space installed. there is one window and no skylight. The room can only fit one bed. Both rooms have mirrors and clothing storage provided as well as beds, and desks. They are both quite separate from living space downstairs which is good for privacy and independence. Across the rooms is a bathroom with a toilet, mirror, window, fan, storage space and shower as well as a washing horse to hang towels. In summer the weather quite often provides natural heat and in the winter the heaters that are attached to the rooms are a great heat source. Guest AccessGuests will be able to access upstairs, laundry and kitchen for breakfast use only. Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to help with basic needs. The NeighborhoodWe live next to a big park domain which is friendly and great for exercise. Our neighborhood is very friendly and quite quiet with two restaurant, two cafes, a dairy, vegetable and fruit shop, hairdresser, fish and chips takeaway and Irish bar. There is also a nature reserve just down the main road and petrol browser and a school, preschool and church. Prebbleton is very close to Lincoln University. (At least a 10 minute bus ride) Getting AroundThere are at least four bus stops leading out of Prebbleton and three bus stops coming in. The Lincoln bus which passes through Prebbleton goes straight to our main shopping center, Riccarton mall and to the city center. The traffic is quite convenient during the day and isn't busy at all during night. Other Things to NoteAttic bedrooms are above a garage. Owners also have a dog. Family home.
