Getting AroundPick up from Hastings or Napier (airport) can be arranged at a small contribution. There is ample parking for car/caravan or campervan.

Interaction with GuestsUsually meet guests on arrival and show them to the Lodge. We live just across the garden about a five minute walk and guests are very welcome to wander around the gardens and use the pool in the summer. If there are any queries or concerns we can easily be reached by email. The NeighborhoodOur neighbourhood is a very rural, peaceful one. Birdsong is abundant and there are many trees. You won't see another house from the Lodge. Getting AroundWe are 20 minutes drive to the nearest service town, Waipukurau. 50 minutes to Hastings and an hour to Napier. Other Things to NoteThere is a swimming pool in the homestead garden a 5 minute walk from the Lodge which guests are welcome to use in the summer months.

The SpaceOur studio accommodation is located across a wide driveway from our home which is set on 5 acres of farmland that is gradually being turned into vegetable and flower gardens with a small orchard.- Explore the surrounding villages and wineries. - Hike or tramp in nearby Ruahine Park - Fish the Tukituki, Waipawa, or tributary rivers - Travel to Hastings or Napier along scenic Highway 50 and check out the many vineyards on the way - Play golf at a choice of 3 courses within 15 minutes Pets are welcome with prior approval and we have room for more than dogs! Dogs are allowed inside the studio, but not on the furniture. We have a friendly Cavalier, a cat and several chickens and 4 sheep. The studio has cooking facilities, however, if you are self-catering please remember the nearest shop is 15 minutes away. Meals can be provided by prior arrangement for an additional cost. Please note our internet is wireless but not strong and the property is television free, although we have a range of DVDs to borrow. The property is not suitable for children. Guest AccessGuests have unlimited access to garden, orchard, and there is always a paddock to exercise dogs available. Interaction with GuestsOur door is always open and guests are welcome to visit any time. We enjoy sharing breakfast and dinner with guests which must be prearranged for an additional cost. The SpaceYou will be staying in a private cottage close to the main house which includes a bedroom, bathroom & living room. Comfortable queen bed, high quality linen and with shower and bath. Breakfast made from our own and locally grown produce will be provided each morning and lunch and dinner can be arranged at your request. Guest AccessCar parking close to cottage, with private access to and from the cottage. You will have access to the swimming pool, tennis court and grounds. Interaction with GuestsWhile you can enjoy your own space in the cottage, you are also welcome to visit the main house where we live. While we are happy to have a chat and give you recommendations to what to do and where to go we can also give you as much space as you like. The NeighborhoodIf you are into the outdoors, we are close to many walking and hiking trails in the Ruahine Ranges including the Sunrise Hut track - suitable for a day trip or overnight - as well as mounain-fed rivers for fly fishing or swimming. The Tikokino Country Hotel is 15 mins away and serves delicious pub food and fare while Waipukurau is 30 mins away where you will find all the necessities. Havelock North and Hastings are 40 mins away and are our nearest main centres. Getting AroundAs we are a rural property, you will need your own transport. Other Things to NoteThis is a working farm.

Havelock North is another 5 minutes from Bridge Pa. The village is host to very nice shops, restaurants and cafes. Te Mata Peak, an iconic Hawkes Bay Tourist spot is a short drive from the village. Getting AroundWhilst there is no public transport close by, we are 10 minutes drive from SH 50 and SH 2. 17 mins by car to Hastings and Havelock North, and 25-30 mins to Napiers. 40 mins by car to Napier Airport.     The homestead has been recently renovated and is a spacious, well appointed place for a perfect relaxing experience in a rural setting. It is nestled amongst mature trees and looks out onto surrounding farmland. There are large living areas with an open fire in the sitting room. Modern country kitchen with dining area and a sunroom which opens out onto the garden. Local activities including cycle tours,( On yer Bike Winery Tours ) golf, visits to wineries, beach outings, Farmers Markets and a visit to the heart of Hawkes Bay, Napier. The famous Gimblett Gravels wineries are a mere 10 minutes up the road, including Sileni, Trinity Hill and Te Awa . Drive 25 minutes further east by car to soak up the sophistication and style of Havelock North and its surrounding vineyards and restaurants such as Black Barn and Craggy Range. The well renowned Hastings Golf club is a 12 minute drive, with a great coffee offering, plus delicious home made food and welcoming club members. Napier and Hastings cities are close, 20 -25 minutes drive through superb countryside. The Chook and Filly, the local watering hole, is 5 minutes away. Further south is the heritage Tikokino Hotel offering pub meals and a chance to meet with the locals. Hawkes Bay has many gardens to visit and has a thriving arts community.       The River cottage is a perfect place to get away and relax. It is on the picturesque Taihape/Napier road, 40 minutes from Taihape and 1hour 30 from Hawkes Bay. The Rangitikei River is just a short stroll away, great for swimming in the summer and trout fishing from October to end of April. The cottage is fully furnished and has a great fire for the cooler nights and winter. You are most welcome to walk wherever you wish on the farm and there are also some lovely walks on the Taihape/Napier road. A cosy cottage in beautiful surroundings!
