There is a wide range of activities to satisfy the varying interests of all of our visitors. The area still retains its original charm despite modern advances and is one of the few remaining unspoilt areas available. Getting AroundVisitors to this area will need to have their own transport as public transport is very limited. There are car hire facilities available at all international airports. Other Things to NoteIt is not advisable to drive to this area after dark at night as there is limited cell phone coverage along sections of the route and also no road lights for most of the journey outside of villages and towns after leaving the N2. Check in time is up to 7pm unless otherwise arranged in advance.

The SpaceThe property includes a large pool, big lawns, and beautiful vistas over the vineyards and olive orchards. There is WiFi, satellite TV, a games room, and a friendly housekeeper. Guest AccessGuests to the Drift Farm Villa will have access to the main house consisting of three en-suite bedrooms, a TV room/study, lounge, kitchen, and dining area. In what we call the West Wing, along the stoep to the West, there are a further two large en-suite rooms, as well as an all purpose room/conference room below the stoep next to the pool. The pool is here for your enjoyment. Please familiarise yourself with the depth before diving in. No children may swim without adult supervision. And please be extra vigilant if there are children in your party who cannot swim. If there are toddlers or children who cannot swim, gates to the pool area should be locked at all times. Behind the main house is the barn, containing a self-catering suite for two and a large entertainment/games room, which can also be utilised as a bunk room. From the veranda, on your right (East) is access to The Villa organic vegetable garden. Please ask Enock, your host to pick some vegetables for you to enjoy during your stay! Similarly, the chicken run is in that direction and you are welcome to enjoy fresh, free range Happy Hen eggs too but under no circumstances may anyone enter the chicken run without Enock present. The farm backs onto a 10 000 hectare nature reserve so walking is a perfect way to immerse oneself in this special corner of nature. Enjoy a stroll around the vineyard or a jog up the hill. Always advise Enock that you are leaving and the direction in which you are heading. If you are heading up the mountain behind the Villa, Enock will open a gate in the electric fence for you. If walking on our neighbour’s land, Enock must be informed and permission sought from our neighbours. Please do not swim in the farm dams. Submerged trees and other hazards make farm dams very dangerous. Interaction with GuestsOur host, Enock Gumeni, will be around to assist with basic cleaning twice a day. This includes washing of dishes and tidying of the main living areas, ie. lounge and dining room. If you would like any of the fires in the Villa to be lit, please ask Enock and he will gladly assist. Likewise, if you wish to braai please let Enock know and he will set up the braai for you. The NeighborhoodIn the Overberg we celebrate out fantastic climate, bountiful farmlands and good country fare. There are a number of excellent farm stalls, delis and restaurants in the neighboring towns, which serve delicious fare of all sorts. Other Things to NoteWe pride ourselves on our delicious wines, stunning vineyards with gorgeous views, organic honey and organic olive oil. We are also currently the largest grower of organic garlic and onions in the Western Cape.

The SpaceThis is a delightful cottage that sleeps 4 people. The open plan living, dining and kitchen areas lend itself to space and socialising and own private lawn & garden in the front of the enclosed patio. On good days and evenings, you can roll up the blinds and open up the patio area. Guest AccessYou will enter the farm gate (has Number 36 at the gate) and drive down to a big Oak Tree at the end of the driveway. You can park here and will find the cottage on your left. One of the residents on the farm will meet you and assist you with checking in and informing you of where everything is that you need to know. There is a communal swimming pool and 2 dams outside the residential area of the farm for swimming. NO-ONE is to swim in the dam next to the main house as this supplies water to the residential areas on the farm. Kindly respect the privacy of other guests and permanent residents staying at the farm by not going into their living/social area of their respective residence. You are free to take a walk, be with the animals (at own risk), on the rest of the premises and outside the residential boundary of the farm. Interaction with GuestsThere is always someone available at the farm to assist you with any thing you may need to know or assistance with. Ilze, one of the owners, also owns and runs the Napier Farmstall, can be reached at the main house (about a 25m walk from the Guest Cottage). The NeighborhoodWe are surrounded by neighbouring farms. One may walk or ride bicycles (bring your own) along the main dirt road from our farm gate, however, you must ensure that gates are securely closed behind you. Getting AroundNapier is 14.5km, Caledon is 49.5km and Bredasdorp is 32km You can walk around the guest farm and surrounding areas but will require your vehicle to get to the nearby towns (others are: Standford, Hermanus, Arniston, Struisbaai, Elim, Gaansbaai to name but a few) Other Things to NoteRemember that this is a guest farm...country living...therefore be mindful of noise levels, fires, animals (friendly or otherwise). It is always good to close up the blinds and windows when you go out to prevent baboons possibly coming in to take things they should not. With the 3 ridgebacks running around it is seldom the baboons come into the residential area of the farm but do pass through and by the paddocks near the fence so best the don't have any opportunity to see food stuffs on a table and open entrances to try their luck.

The SpaceOur house is an open plan spacious residence. We bought a small old workers cottage and converted it, then added the structure in which we built the bedroom portion, that has straw bale walls. The kitchen has a view of the paddock and has an outside seating and visiting area. The small holding also boasts a straw bale venue for weddings, parties, functions. Our water comes from the mountain and is heated by a fire under the hot water cylinder (donkey). We drink boiled rain water out of preference. We bathe in the mountain water which is brownish and looks strange in the toilet but is perfectly healthy. We have a staff man who looks after the 2 horses, 3 dogs and chickens. We grow our own grenadillas and have an olive grove. This place is mountain biking heaven. There are trails to keep you busy for hours. Guest AccessYou would be able to negotiate use of the entire space and we would simply make sure the animals are taken care of. Interaction with GuestsDepending on where we are, we would be glad to assist with any queries and if we are away, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) is a good option. Wildcat37.
