Guest AccessOur whole house is comfortable, warmed by two fires and heatpump, and the sun. Living outdoors is fab, with verandah so right round, sheltering from any breeze, and shading if the sun is too hot. Two full bathrooms, linen and towels supplied. Wifi, fish cleaning, pantry basics, laundry, drying facilities, rural views, bird song, the company of a few sheep, fruit in season ..... Simple, perfect. Kakahi is an easy drive to many adventures in the region. Kakahi Adventure Lodge provides a place where time stands still. The lodge sits at one end of the village, is private, sunny and peaceful. The SpaceThe caravan has three single beds, on is narrow. There is a gas stove for cooking, crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, wine glasses. There is a mirrored wardrobe so you can hang your clothes. You may use our washing machine and dryer for a fee of $5 per load, (wash and dry) or $3 for just the washing machine, (includes washing powder). We live in a country setting with farms all around us. We have 3 acres of land with two heifers, (cattle). Guest AccessYou may access our cottage (which we live in) via the back door. Just beside the back door is the toilet and bathroom for your use. You may enjoy our gardens and if we have our fire pit going you are welcome to join us to relax around it with a drink and bring your marshmallows for toasting on the fire! Interaction with GuestsPlease ask anything about the area or any questions at all are welcome. The NeighborhoodWe live in a very peaceful setting up a quiet country road 3kms out of the Owhango village. We have a local café in the village. Getting AroundYou will need your own transport. Other Things to NoteAt times our internet is slow and sometimes during busy times of the evenings especially you may not be able to get access. It is a case of keep trying.. this is because of our remote area. For cellphone coverage, the Spark or Skinny networks are best here, others you may have to go down to the main road to get coverage.

Local guide and tons of knowledge available. * Go canoeing or kayaking on the Whanganui river, very experienced Taumarunui operators. Alternatively have a white water rafting adventure with Tongariro River Rafting or go in a jet boat to the Bridge to Nowhere or the Lavender Farm. * Visit National Park village where you can go rock climbing, have a scenic flight and a choice of excellent restaurants. * The Tokaanu hot pools are 45 minutes drive away. While you're there spoil yourself and go to the Lake Land House for some divine food while looking out over beautiful Lake Taupo. * Kakahi is a tiny rural village, away from the beaten track, away from any through fare. Still there is some quality time to be spent here. Visit local artist Mike Walsh, admire his awesome carvings which are for sale, treat yourself to some truly unique art. Owhango is a very small village in Central North Island.It is picturesque and only 30 minutes away from the ski fields for winter snow sports or walking the Tongariro crossing in Summer. The hut is next door to a native bush reserve with many trails for hiking or biking and the Whakapapa river for trout fishing. Many native birds can be seen in the area including the rare blue duck or Whio.

        Owhango is conveniently located close to Mt Ruapehu skifields (Whakapapa is about 30 min drive), and the Tongariro Crossing. It is also the end point for the 42nd Traverse. There are many other attractions nearby, such fishing, canoeing. A central location for many summer and winter outdoor activities. Owhango is on SH4, between Taumarunui and National Park. The cottage is about 100 years old and oozes character and charm. Heating is by a Kent fireplace in the kitchen and supplemented by oil heaters in two of the bedrooms. The two queen-sized beds both have electric blankets. An open fireplace in the lounge provides a cozy feel on those winter nights. The two bunk beds are king singles. With a fridge, dishwasher, stove, and microwave in the kitchen and a washing machine in the laundry, you can make this your home away from home. There is ample offstreet parking for a few cars and a carport at the rear of the house. We provide firewood, matches and firelighters, but recommend that our guests bring a box, or bag, of kindling to assist with starting the fire. Some books and board games are provided and can fill up the evenings and help families spend quality time together. Kindly note that there is no TV or DVD player provided. We will not accept bookings for one night only. The bach is set up for families and we will not accept bookings for groups with more than 4 adults.
