The SpaceJust a birdcall away from giant leafy trees and the sprawling greenery of the Botanical Reserve. If you have a small party who want a spacious living area with the comforts of home but the compactness of an easy care suite, then this is the place for you. This relaxed, private and completely renovated old Mediterranean style 2bdrm hideaway is perfectly situated: Ridgeline tramping tracks on the adjoining hills flow to the nearby sea and down into bush valleys with riverside swimming holes. The trail head to these is only a one minute walk from 8 Arches. If you turn the other direction and walk two blocks you can join the riverside walking/biking track long the beautifully landscaped Maitai River. The Riverside pool beckons a wee bit farther down the footpath and the town centre is not much further. Bring your bikes and it is a short and easy ride along the river to the harbour and beyond that to Nelson's best beach, Tahunanui. Once you arrive there is no need for a car. Open your door and walk toward the sea and you are now a couple minutes walk from the Queens Gardens Reserve, the Chinese gardens, the Suter Art Gallery and the gourmet-style food of the Suter Gallery Cafe. Walk two minutes more and you are in the City Centre, with the temptations of the Saturday and Wednesday Farmer's Markets, or a pizza at Stefano's and a movie at the State Cinema close to hand. Walk to the nearby Sprig and Fern or Freehouse and hoist a couple of pints, enjoy some fish and chips or Indian food and don't worry about calling a taxi as you are only a five minute walk back to your accommodation. We came over from Picton for the Weetbix Tryathlon. Unfortunately the weather on the Friday night was so horrendous at home that we could not leave. Fortunately the weather died down on the Saturday so we ended up coming over that evening. Jan was exceptionally understanding and helpful over our circumstances, I can’t say how much I appreciated it. I have been working in 5 star hotels throughout New Zealand and Australia. The standards here are-in bach terms- equal to any of those. The selfish side of me doesn’t want to recommend this place as I want it to be available to me each time I go to Nelson, but as this income allows them to visit their precious grandchildren, I can’t possibly not recommend it. Thanks so much for a great-albeit too brief-stay in your lovely apartment. Katharine” Katharine Overend 02/03/2012 “This apartment is fantastic. It’s a great location. The apartment is lovely inside, everything new, clean and everything you need. The bathrooms are lovely too. The views are great, and we could use a BBQ every night which made it so much easier with small children. It’s lovely to wake up to sea views. There are games and books for the children to use too and they loved the big teddies Jan put in their room! The hosts were very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Don’t tell everyone of this great find as we want to stay again next year!” Melanie Kesry 02/01/2011 There is something special about Jan and Ian and about their lovely apartment. Experienced hosts, they made us all welcome with their warm, friendly manner. The apartment is spacious, spotless, beautifully appointed (including furniture crafted by Ian), and boasts wonderful sea views. Jan told us about local walking tracks. Every morning we walked, or staggered up the Tamaki St steps for more panoramic views. Tahuna Beach is only a short walk down the hill from the apartment. Jan and Ian are genuinely interested in the comfort of their guests. The apartment on Stansell provides a most indulgent, relaxing and memorable holiday. Stayed from Saturday 12/01/2013 to Thursday 17/01/2013. Guest AccessOff street parking. Fast wifi. Comfort & peace. But if you would prefer just to do your own thing, then that's perfectly okay too. We are friendly and love talking to people, swapping stories, ideas and learning new things, albeit that sometimes life can get busy with work, child's activities and other interests. But rest assured will always take the time to help you find information about things you might want to do while you are here, etc. Please note that a pre-schooler lives here too, most of the time. He has a happy, cheeky and fun temperament, is not overly noisy and sleeps well so shouldn't disturb you.
