The SpaceWe have a large repurposed hospital building in a semi-rural setting with one wing of three bedrooms dedicated to Homestay Guests. Near to our home in Waitati is the Orokonui Ecosanctuary, Silverpeaks walking tracks, very beautiful beaches where we often go for nude walks and skinny dips. Just 20 minutes drive into Dunedin City. This is a genuine homestay being home to ourselves, extended family and long term guests. There is also a cat and a small dog. Waitati has been associated with freedom and innovation for a long time and this continues with the work of the Blueskin Bay Resiliant Communities trust and many community activities. Guest AccessThe guest wing opens onto a large sunny private courtyard with a spa pool and guests are welcome to wander around the rest of the 3 acres, mostly bordered by farmland. There are two sitting rooms, a dining room, a nice wee sunroom to relax in and a massage room. The grounds aren't completely private but the neighbors have been accepting of our naturist lifestyle. Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy getting to know our guests but we also appreciate that people may want to simply enjoy some quiet tranquility. Joining in with the family meal in the evening is an option. Getting AroundThere is some public bus transport from Waitati village to Dunedin. We can usually help with local transport. Other Things to Note$20pp to join in with 2 or 3 course family meal. We have snack meal available for $10.

The SpaceWe believe we have one of the most beautiful spots on the Otago Coastline (and possibly the world!) and we love to share it with people. The cottage is the original maid's quarters and still retains much of the original character whilst having the convenience of a bathroom and small kitchen added. We can comfortably accommodate 2 adults in the queen size bed and it is possible to put a king single bed in the living space if required. Guest AccessFeel free to go for a walk around our little lifestyle farm: perhaps a stroll down to the ocean, a wander past the sheep or chickens or explore the 1875 barn with an interesting collection of old farming and whaling equipment. Sit and enjoy the view and the bird song in the beautiful gardens. Interaction with GuestsWe love meeting new people, hearing their stories and helping them make the most of their time in the area. Our family house is situated close to the accommodation and the outside areas are shared. However, we are also very happy to give you all the space you need to enjoy your time in our little slice of paradise. From experience, you are unlikely to hear us as the buildings are separate. The NeighborhoodThere are many beautiful short walks in the area as well as longer walks for those keen on getting out and about. We have several stunning beaches nearby that are often deserted except for the local wildlife. We are a short (20 minute) drive from the centre of Dunedin. Getting AroundYour own transport is definitely the most convenient way to get around and we have plenty of parking. There is a bus service from Dunedin but it only runs 3 times a day on weekdays and stops 30 minutes walk from our property. Other Things to NoteWarrington does not have any shops or restaurants. The nearest supermarket and cafes/restaurants are in Dunedin. There is a small corner store 8 minutes away in Waitati and another in the opposite direction in Karitane but these have a limited range of grocery items. There is also a cafe in Waitati but it is not open for dinner. We are happy to provide dinner at a reasonable price (just covering costs) if you would find that helpful.

The SpaceA true kiwi classic crib Absolute water front ( fish from the front door). Virtually unchanged in decades this crib is a true kiwi classic with an old time charm that is getting harder to find. The prefect retreat for individuals looking to get away or family groups looking for a slice of kiwiana heaven. The amenities are pretty basic so it's not for the Paris Hiltons of this world. There are no phones, TV, no microwave, no internet, no Sky either, or stereo . No cell coverage either really. Most importantly NO toilet! Yes the long drop was decommissioned a wee while back as it was gross and the flush loos at the tennis court are a 2min walk away and until we invest in a new abolition block are sufficient. There is a shower of sorts but it is temperamental and well overdue for an upgrade. Next on the list after the toilet. :-) So the outdoor bath is your next best friend here. Wont suit everybody though of course, but you know what to expect. There is power though. A small stove/oven for cooking and a couple of classic fridges to keep the beer (and food) cold. There may be a the odd mouse to contend with too. All that said there is nowhere else on earth quite like it. There is a playground and a tennis court. You'll find a couple of rackets in the bunk house. The domain is great for playing sports and has a great playground for the kids too. The Crib has a dinghy too; and a mullet net so you can catch a feed at high tide in the river. Or just fish with a rod from the front door step. There is white bait and trout in there too for the keen angler or surf cast off the beach. The beach is awesome. You can walk forever and often not meet a soul. Plenty old school board games to occupy the whole family around the fire in the evenings. Trust me, you will never run out of things to do here! Special conditions: Make sure you bring: - your own bedding/linen - matches paper kindling and coal for the wee fire. - loo paper - fishing rod - clothing for any weather - your dog - a sense of adventure. The NeighborhoodToko Mouth is an off the beaten track, beach community situated where the Tokomiriro River meets the Pacific Ocean. Toko Mouth is one of the last frontiers of Kiwiana holiday bach heaven with the sleepy community made up of a handful of cribs, mostly holiday houses, with a hand full of lucky people who get to live there full time. There is no shop, nor cafe, pub, gas station etc. If fact there is very little there at all which is more the charm. Nearest civilization is Milton. 20min. Getting AroundApprox 1 hr south of Dunedin, Toko Mouth is a delightfully isolated beach bach (crib) community roughly 20min drive from the nearest township, Milton, along a well groomed gravel road. How to get there… From Milton turn off opposite the old stone cathedral to head east on Mill St. Follow the road till u come to a wee rise at Tokomairiro school. Turn right onto Tokomouth Road. Over bridge keep left and follow the river to the coast - 20min approx. Once at the crib settlement take two left turns keeping alongside of the river bank. Just past the wishing well you will see the crib on left - Two red/brown huts, brick chimney new tin roof. Bath between them. Park up and relax. You have arrived! You will find the key in a small jar between the chimney and the weatherboards. (Please replace when you leave!). Other Things to NoteMake sure you bring: - your own bedding/linen - matches paper kindling and coal for the wee fire. - loo paper - fishing rod - clothing for any weather - your dog - a sense of adventure.

The SpaceA 1930's built chalet-style crib adjacent to the beach. We have fully-insulated the walls and roof-space with Insulmax (URL HIDDEN) blown-fibre insulation, which keeps the place very warm and dry. Guest AccessYou've got access to the whole house and garden and adults can access the shed; kids too as long as they're accompanied by an adult because there's a few things with sharp teeth and a few poisonous things in there ...saws and weedkiller :-) You've also got access to a few metres of beach at high water but acres of beach at low water. There's a tide table in the house, so you can check out the best times for beach-walking. Interaction with GuestsWe won't be disturbing you on a daily basis but we will always be available at the end of the phone in case of any dramas. We live about 20 minutes drive away in North East Valley, just north of the the city. If you are staying a while, we will check in with you periodically to ensure you have everything you need. The NeighborhoodIt's a bach on the beach; a crib on the coast. It looks like a typical Kiwi coastal bach but with one major (URL HIDDEN) warm. Recently insulated with blown-fibre insulation from Insulmax (URL HIDDEN) in the walls and roof space, she's warm as. Just for good measure, we had the internal walls between the rooms insulated as well because Insulmax insulation also acts as sound-proofing, so those disturbing nocturnal noises are kept to a minimum ...hey, I was thinking possums on the roof! The 'hood is great; quiet but vigilant, so you'll be looked after without even knowing it. Port Chalmers features the closest (4 Square) supermarket as well as a couple of good pubs (Portsider and Carey's Bay Hotel), coffee shops, cafes, a post-office/pharmacy (same premises) and the shops of George Street. Getting AroundYou'll be at 7's to get away from the daily grind and the daily grind stops in Port Chalmers. Your own transport is essential really as there's no public transport to and from Aramoana and taxis are expensive. Depending on which way the wind is blowing, it'll take you about 30 minutes of easy or hard cycling each way to Port. There's a couple of adult-sized bikes in the shed if you want to use them. Other Things to NoteThere's no washing machine or tumble dryer as we're on tank water at TeNgaru, so your dhoby (washing) will need to be done at the laundrette in Port Chalmers at the top of the hill opposite the Portsider Tavern, where if you do the dhoby in the afternoon, you can wait in comfort over a beer and a bite. We'll change your sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers every week if you're a long-term stayer but if you supply your own linen then talk to us about a discount on your fee.

A 315 hectare portion of the Lake Waihola-Waipori wetland complex, where you are welcome to walk or kayak to connect to the wetland environment, via education and hands-on participation. Getting AroundWaihola is 12 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from Dunedin. The main bus companies stop at Waihola but it is an area better explored by car. A 12km trip across the top of the hill takes you to Taieri Mouth while heading south 15 minutes takes you to the turn off to Central Otago and another 15 minutes onto the Southern Scenic Route through to the Catlins. Other Things to NoteOur fabulous views are the result of living on the hill above the lake. The downside of this is that the section is steep (however you can park at the top) and there are stairs to reach the guest accommodation.
