The SpaceHi, We are Dave and Penny and we have a comfortable room, with a queen bed, which we would love to rent to you on your visit here to the very beautiful Lake Wanaka. This room accommodates two people only and if you need more than two people see our other listing. Close to all that Central Otago has to offer and just 10 mins drive from Lake Wanaka lakefront is The Dell B&B/Homestay. We are situated on the edge of a small semi rural community called Luggate, near the airport with stunning mountain views in a relaxing and peaceful environment. We have provided in the room tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and a hairdryer to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. There is also limited free Wifi available. Both bedrooms share the use of the guest bathroom and extra washroom which is located adjacent to the bedrooms. The living quarters consist of a family/dining, area and a separate lounge all of which you are welcome to use or join us and our beloved pets in. Our peaceful, recently built, home sits on an acre and a half just 10 minutes from the Wanaka Lakefront. We are also 3 mins from the airport which has mainly recreational aircraft, but also has skydiving and flight seeing tours over the glaciers. The Warbirds over Wanaka airshow is held here every two years. From our home we can look out to the airport and watch the skydivers landing.......a remarkable sight! Also a great position to watch the 'Wanaka Warbirds' air show. Occasionally in the evenings in summer we can see aerial acrobatic displays being practiced. For the ski bunnies or snow boarders our location is also handy for the Ski fields of Treble Cone, Cardrona and the Snow Farm. In the summer time, Wanaka is a superb holiday destination, great for walking, fishing, boating or just relaxing and the number one destination for many New Zealanders. Other lakes close by suitable for fishing and boating are Hawea (15 mins away) and Dunstan (30 mins away). The nearby Clutha River is also great for fishing or for just walking to and discovering some of the old Gold Panning Tailings that are there.. Nearby townships are Alexandra which annually has the Blossom Festival in the springtime and historic Cromwell which is on the banks of Lake Dunstan. Queenstown and Arrowtown are only a mere hours drive over the Crown range and from there onto the beautiful Milford Sound.............well worth the trip. Milford Sound is stunning in any weather and esp after the rains. Vinyards abound in the area and are always worth a visit esp to the wine buffs amongst us.Wanaka is also the gateway to the West Coast of the South Island and the beautiful scenery and glaciers that are over there. Closer to our home tho is a cosy pub just a 5 minute walk away serving great meals at a reasonable cost. Relax in our 'Dell' or for a quiet evening in you can enjoy our home theatre system which can show movies on the Big Screen. For animal lovers, we have 2 very friendly dogs, very much loved members of our family. We have good local knowledge. Wanaka is an amazingly scenic place and probably the best place to stay in New Zealand's South Island. We will do all we can to make your stay as memorable as possible and help out with tours and onward travel where we can. Originally from Christchurch we have much knowledge on that area too and what to see and do there. We hope that our description is helpful to you in making your decision to come visit with us and we look forward to meeting you. We offer great rates, priced per room Guest AccessGuests are welcome to join us in our family room or use the separate Guest Lounge to watch TV or DVDs or even do their email. We also provide limited free Wifi and a free continental breakfast. There is plenty of off street parking available close to the guest room. This is a large property and guests are more than welcome to sit in the garden and enjoy the fabulous views, go down into the Dell where they can relax in a hammock or just sit at a table with a good book and a drink and listen to the nearby creek and chirping birds. The creek is also great for cooling off in on those extra hot summer days. We can help with planning onward journeys, bookings for excursions, restaurants or even what to do and where to go here in the area. Interaction with GuestsWe love meeting and getting to know people from different countries and cultures and as such are happy to spend as much or as little time with our guests as they wish. They are here for their relaxation and if they wish to keep us company of an evening or just be by themselves we will fit in with their wishes. Our two full time staff members Ace (Security Officer) and Molly (Entertainments Officer) like to spend as much time as possible with guests and will greet all with a loud and tail wagging bark to announce your arrival. The NeighborhoodThere is plenty to do here with relaxing scenery, quiet locality and the ability to be able to have long or short walks around the area and enjoy the scenery at the same time. We are near a major river (the Clutha) and have a creek running through the bottom part of the garden which leads into the Clutha River. All things to enjoy while staying here with us Getting AroundThere is no public transport available here and so a car is a necessity to get about, see and enjoy all that Lake Wanaka has to offer Other Things to NoteLake Wanaka has a lot to offer the discerning traveler and we here at The Dell B&B/Homestay are no exception. The SpaceThis is a lovely, cozy room that catches the morning sun and looks out over the garden. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the house with their own key. Guest can use the kitchen and bathroom, and also the BBQ area and backyard. Guests may use the laundry, which is included in the price. Interaction with GuestsI am generally home most of the time and would be happy to show guests around the area. If you feel like it I can take guests to the pub to meet local people or even host a bbq in the backyard. Please understand that I host a lot of guests and need a little time to myself. I like to have the afternoon from 12-4pm to do the cleaning and laundry and have a little bit of time out. The NeighborhoodLake Hawea is a paradise for those who love the outdoors. Handy to Wanaka and Queenstown, it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Central Otago climate and landscape. The active holidaymaker will easily stay occupied as Hawea and Wanaka are popular for boating, windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing. Adrenaline seekers also have a range of activities to choose from with skydiving, jetboating, bungy jumping, downhill mountainbiking and more all within a short drive of the accommodation. Getting AroundThere is no public transport in this area. I am a 15 minute drive from Wanaka and a 1 hour drive from Queenstown. A Car is preferable but pick up can be arranged if necessary ( extra cost). Other Things to NoteThis is an older house. It is very basic accommodation. Would best suit people who are used to a flatting/houseshare situation as I also have another room rented on airbnb. The available room is next to the toilet so may not suit people who are light sleepers or wish to sleep a lot during the day. PLEASE MESSAGE ME WITH A SPECIFIC CHECK IN TIME as I am often out and will need to be here to let guests in. PLEASE tell me approximate arrival time so I don't have to wait for many hours for your arrival :-) Check in is after 4pm unless prior arrangements have been made for earlier check in. If you have not contacted me by 2pm on arrival day, I will assume you are not coming and may not be here to let you in. I would also prefer if guests sent room requests not more than 2 months in advance. Last minute reservations are fine as well. Thanks :-) Over the period from 23 Dec to 4th Jan this is a noisy town with a lot of parties including at my house. Please only request if you can manage and join in with this. Generally this is a very social house with people coming and going a lot. We often have gatherings involving drinks and music (usually in weekends). So may not suit light sleepers. I will tell guests when they request if something is planned while they are here (before guests confirm booking). There are often dogs on the premises. Any dog staying is always friendly! This is not a hotel, it is my home and a working household. It can sometimes be a little messy in shared areas. I always make sure airbnb bedrooms are very tidy and clean. My house is older so is difficult to make look very clean and tidy. Rest assured I am very fussy about hygene, especially in the bathroom, toilet and kitchen.

The SpaceThis house was built for my elderly mother in law six years ago. In the planning stages we focused on warmth and comfort and ease of living for her. There is underfloor heating in the bathroom with a large walk in shower and heated towel rails. The main bedroom has a heat pump/ air conditioner and a large walk in wardrobe. Great views of sky and mountains from bed. All sheeting pure cotton. The gallery connects all the rooms and runs along the front of the house and with the doors open can act as an internal verandah. The floor tiles act as a heat sink to warm the house in the evening. The kitchen is well equipped and has lovely concrete benches inlaid with paua, gas hobs electric oven and instant hot filtered water for drinks. Barbecue for outdoor eating. All this is set in a private garden where the quail visit and the occasional pair of ducks make their home. All windows on the north have a mountain view to watch the changing light. Guest AccessThe house is one of three on the property. One is our house and the other belongs to our son and his family. Although we are near, the house is very private and we respect the guests space when they are staying and ask for the same from guests. Interaction with GuestsThere is usually someone to greet the guests and show them through the features of the house and help them with planning their days exploring of the area. The NeighborhoodThis area is renowned for outdoor activities- the new Mt Grand walking track is on the doorstep. Timaru Creek and the new Pakatu Hut track are a 10-15 mins drive away. A walking/cycling track goes from Johns Creek (25min walk) along the Hawea lakefront to the dam then follows the Hawea river to Alberttown then up the Clutha river to Lake Wanaka outlet, around the lake to the town and out to Glendu Bay. Alternatively at Alberttown head south to Luggate, high up along the river terraces beside the Clutha river. Rock climbing, fishing , boating, skiing, swimming, shopping or just relaxing it's all here. Queenstown is an hour and a quarter drive over the spectacular Crown Range Road via the Cardrona Valley- call into the historic Cardrona pub and the cute village of Arrowtown on your way. Come back via the Kawarau Gorge and Cromwell- taste a few wines at Gibbston or have a Bungy jump and buy seasonal Central Otago fruit at the roadside stalls. Heading to Haast on the west coast is a two hour drive via the village of Makarora. At Makarora take a scenic flight to Siberia and walk out through the bush to jet boat back on the Wilkin River. At Haast head south to Jackson Bay and have the best fish and chips from the caravan at the wharf- you may even find whitebait to buy. The choice is endless! Getting AroundYou will need your own transport as there are no public services in this region.

The SpaceThis is a small but pretty little cabin in my back garden. It would suit the independent traveler as well as those who wold like to join in with main household. The room is nice and cozy and has a double bed, couch and little kitchenette. I also supply tea and coffee. It has a big flat screen TV with dvds, HDMI and USB if you have your own movies. You can lie on the bed and look up at our beautiful mountains! The cabin is approximately 3 metres by 6 metres in floor space. Most guests wish they had booked for more than one night! Guest AccessGuest are in their own little cabin. My home is also on the property so guests are welcome to join in with the main household. Please always feel comfortable with coming in to the main house if you need anything or would just like a chat. Interaction with GuestsThe cabin is on my back lawn. I try not to bother guests and let you have privacy. I am generally home most of the day working and am happy to tell you all about the area. If you feel like it, I can take guests to the pub to meet local people or even host a bbq in the backyard or a dinner party. I am always happy to help you with local advice, planning trips and anything else you would like to know. Pop in for a glass of wine and a chat if you would like! I will be away on holiday from the 21st Sept until 5th November so my lovely friend Kasey will be hosting with her 7 year old daughter Paige. There are 2 restaurants within 2 minutes walk of the cabin, 2 takeaway places, a bar and a local conveniance store. My house is a 5 minute walk from the lake! Guets realise after they arrive that there is plenty to do around this area and it is very central to many activities. Consider booking for more than one night! Many guests wish they had done this! Getting AroundIt is best to have a car to get here. There are taxis as well. I can pick up for an extra charge. Lake Hawea is a 15 minute drive from Wanaka and a 1 hour drive from Queenstown Other Things to NoteThe cabin is on my back lawn. I generally try and be as quiet as possible when guests are staying and will inform guests when they book if a social occasion is planned while they are staying. We generally like to have a few drinks and some music after work on Friday nights which means it can a little noisy for one night per week. You are welcome to join in. Please ask if you have any questions about this. There is a young dog currently living on the property. She is very enthusiastic and may run up and greet you but she is very friendly! The period between 23rd December and 11th Jan is a noisy and social time in this area. We also have a lot of BBQs and social gatherings as we are all on our Summer holiday. Please only book this room in this time if you can manage this and/or join in with us. The cabin is quite small but cozy. There are 2 little fold down tables to eat off but no dining table.

The SpaceThe house is situated on 20 acres of hill country with spectacular views and great walks. The bedroom is downstairs and the bathroom is adjacent to your room. There is a washing machine for your use. Guest AccessGuests have access to downstairs living areas and outside on our 20 acres of hill country. Kitchen is not for use by our guests apart from tea and coffee making. Interaction with GuestsVery happy to chat with guests and answer any questions that arise. The NeighborhoodThis valley is something very special. The road is like no other , and very exciting for people who love the outback and being away from civilization. May be a challenge for the faint hearted or people scared of heights as there are some steep parts off the road and can be quite corrugated in the summer. It is a great experience to visit Skippers Canyon and we recommend that you consider two nights to get the most benefit of this area. There is plenty of bird life and a few hares, rabbits, frogs and oposums in the way of animal life. So it is a very safe environment. Very cool for walking and bike riding and photography. If you are a "Lord of the Rings" fan there are several sites nearby where scenes were shot in the first movie. The house is approximately 35 to 45 minutes driving for the first time on this road to my house, from the turn off at Skippers Road lookout and 50 minutes to 1 hour from Queenstown. Getting AroundThere is no public transport from Queenstown. You must have your own car or we can arrange a ride for you to the property with extra charge. Other Things to NoteThe only accommodation offered in the famous Skippers Canyon - situated above the gold bearing Shotover River, now popular for rafting, jet boating and sightseeing tours to visit the now abandoned gold rush town of Skippers. Great hill country walks. Peaceful and very quiet nights - great for stargazing We are "off the grid" with our own solar power and generator back up. Gas hot water or wetback heated water by the coal range. Wood burner for cooler evenings. We have our own fresh spring water from the hill. Please note that the Skippers Road is an historic unsealed road - to me it is my driveway - but your rental car may not be insured while driving on the road. The drive on the Skippers Road is like no other in New Zealand. It is unsealed and narrow in many places with steep drops off the side in some places. If you suffer from vertigo this may be very difficult for you in places. If you are used to driving on dirt roads you will be very happy. The house is situated in rural tussock hill country with very few neighbours and plenty of open space. The scenery is amazing so take your time to enjoy. Great for walking in this area - there is also an exciting jet boat ride , as an option, up the Shotover river further into the canyon. You can drive further up the valley for 20 minutes to the Skippers bridge and abandoned gold mining township with cemetery, restored schoolhouse and homestead. Several 'Lord of the Rings' sites are also in Skippers. DOC has several walking tracks from Skippers. Internet access is patchy and limited. You may get very limited coverage with a Spark internet only. No Vodafone coverage unless connected to Spark (for Australians) Excellent scenery for photographs.

The SpaceThis is a lovely cozy room that gets the morning sun and looks over the back garden. It is right by the lounge so is best suited to those who are not bothered by the TV going and people walking in the lounge and kitchen. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the house with their own key. Guest can use the kitchen and bathroom anytime, and also the BBQ area and backyard. Guests may use the laundry, which is included in the price. Interaction with GuestsI will be home when not at work. I am generally home in the evening and would be happy to show guests around the area. It is not a hotel, it is a working household so things will not be perfect. Would best suit people who are used to a flatting/houseshare situation as my boyfriend also lives here. He gets up at 6.30am for work and you are likely to hear him in this room. The room is next to the lounge so will not suit people who are light sleepers or wish to sleep a lot during the day. VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!-PLEASE MESSAGE ME WITH A SPECIFIC CHECK IN TIME as I am often out and will need to be here to let guests in. Check in is after 4pm. I would also prefer if guests sent room requests not more than 2 months in advance. Last minute reservations are fine as well. Thanks :-) Over the period from 23 Dec to 5th Jan this is a noisy town with a lot of parties, including at my house. Please only request if you can manage and join in with this. Generally this is a very social house with people coming and going a lot. We often have impromptu gatherings involving drinks and music( especially in weekends). So may not suit light sleepers. I will inform guests when they request if something is planned for the requested night. There is also currently a very friendly cat living here that I am looking after.

The SpaceThis cottage has been renovated but we've kept it's unique retro character, including the tartan carpet! :) The property is private and secluded and offers guests a peaceful stay. For the active guest, there are plenty of walking and bike tracks. For the relaxer, the bookcases are stocked and you have unlimited internet. The property basks in sun - perfect for an outdoor picnic - at any time of year. The cottage is one bedroom and one bath plus a loft. The loft is not suitable for children as there is a ladder to climb, but we can advise and send photos if needed. Interaction with GuestsWe are here to help guests with as much as they need but respect that everyone enjoys their private time as well. The NeighborhoodOur neighbourhood offers easy access to the entire region. We're close enough to Queenstown to enjoy all that is has too offer, but guests can come 'home' to enjoy the peace and serenity of the countryside and its views. Getting AroundThe cottage is best suited for those with their own transportation.
