Welcome to 3 Oban, a recently renovated boutique style holiday home. Situated on the edge of Oban town center with a Farrow & Ball coastal palate, which works perfectly as a backdrop to the stunning sea views, we know we've something very special to offer. Whether you are travelling the stunning Scottish highlands or merely yearn a sumptuous feather pillow on your short holiday, 3 Oban delivers. We have a beautiful, newly created "snug" seating area for those who wish to eat indoors and enjoy the sights of the often Stormy, Scottish Seas. Or for those who would prefer to sample the famous restaurants, we are only a five-minute walking from the town center. We feel passionately about comfortable living, and hope to welcome our guests to your home away from home. Oban today has a resident population of 8,500 and is the unofficial capital of the West Highlands - the "Gateway to the Isles" - however it has recently become better known as "The Seafood Capital of Scotland". The panoramic views of the mountains, lochs and islands which have captivated artists, authors, composers, and poets for centuries are as striking now as they were when Dunollie Castle, a ruined keep which has stood sentinel over the narrow entrance to the sheltered bay for around six hundred years, was the northern outpost of the Dalriadic Scots. It is no surprise to find Oban in the 21st Century remains a magnet for travellers from all over the world. The town's present day popularity owes much to the Victorians, and as early as 1812, when the Comet steamship linked Oban with Glasgow, the town played host to intrepid travellers touring Staffa - the inspiration for Mendelssohn's Hebridean Overture - and Iona - home of Scottish Christianity since St Columba stepped ashore in AD563. Indeed once Oban had the royal seal of approval from Queen Victoria, who called it "one of the finest spots we have seen", the town's destiny as an endearingly enchanting holiday destination was as firmly set as the lava columns of Fingal's Cave in Staffa. Luxury 3 bedroom self catering holiday home in Oban Argyll.

Each bedroom is for two people only and we only accept children if they are 12 years and above. We are only a fifteen minute drive from Oban and are well placed for touring the area and exploring some of the inner isles of the Hebrides. We also have some lovely walks around our hill farm. Guests enjoy the peace and quiet and usually stay for two to three nights. Barndromin Farm is situated in a lovely coastal setting overlooking Loch Feochan just 12 minutes south of Oban. It is on a working hill farm with beautiful woodland and hill walks. Our comfortable Bed & Breakfast is a country house on a family run farm. In the spring you can see the lambs running round the fields. Wildlife abounds with rare butterflies, sea eagles, otters on the shore and red squirrels in the sessile oak forest. Breakfast is served in the dining room with fresh eggs from the hen house. Jamie your host takes a keen interest in conservation and wildlife, especially butterflies. This is the perfect place to base yourselves to make day trips to the Islands of Mull , Iona, Lismore, Kerrera and others. Also there are excellent sea life trips nearby to see whales, dolphins, porpoises and the Corrie Vreckan, an impressive whirlpool between Jura and Scarba. The isle of Seil is a half hour drive to the south and can be accessed by car over the 'Bridge over the Atlantic'. To the north is Connel and the Falls of Lora which run accross the bottom of Loch Etive. This superb holiday home, called 'Braemar' with kitchen, dining room, lounge, family bathroom and three bedrooms (master bedroom with en suite) overlooks Oban bay and sits a few hundred meters above Oban's town centre. The harbour below 'Braemar' has many unique Scottish style restaurants, bars, pubs and shops. The famous Oban whisky distillery can be accessed quickly from the house via Jacob's ladder and above the house lies the magnificent landmark and folly 'McCaig's Tower' (built between 1897 and 1902). A short walk from the house is Atlants Leisure, which offers swimming and fitness facilities as well as a climbing wall, cafe and a children's soft play. Recently the Oban cinema has been fully refurbished, only 400m from the house this unique community run small screen makes movie going feel like going to the theater. From every window 'Braemar' offers breathtaking and ever changing views over Oban Bay and the islands beyond. Guests can enjoy the long Scottish summer nights and its beautiful sunsets from the newly build viewing platform above the house in the rear garden. 'Braemar' has been brought onto the holiday letting market after substantial refurbishment and 2014 is its first year for holiday letting. The white rendered property is a traditional 1920s style house with double bay windows. Access through a traditional front porch with partly glazed oak front door leads onto the hallway. To the right of the entrance we have the lounge with its large and comfortable corner sofa, fire place and TV set with DVD Player. To the left of the entrance is the dining room with extending dining table with seating for up to eight people, gas fire place and sofa bed. A door leads into the kitchen, which comprises of an array of storage with dishes and all necessary utensils, a washing machine, hob, oven and fridge freezer. The back door to the rear of the house leads into the fenced garden next to the house. The three bedrooms are located on the first floor. The Master Bedroom has its own en suite bathroom with large shower, sink and WC. Two chests of drawers and a walk in wardrobe offer plenty of storage and from the double bed one can enjoy the beautiful views across Oban Bay and the sea. The second bedroom has its own sink, wardrobe and chest of drawers as well as a double bed. The third bedroom lies in between the other two and has a single bed and a chest of drawers for storage. The property has two gardens - one on ground floor level, secured with railings and gates making it a safe place for families with small children and the second one with large viewing platform above roof level - accessed through stairs to the back of the house. This newly built viewing platform is the ideal place to make the best of the long Scottish summer evenings with a glass of wine and enjoy the magnificent views over Oban and beyond. All in all - This property is the perfect family retreat for those that do not want to get into a car on a daily basis, but who enjoy the convenience of being in a town and close to local amenities - without compromising on the holiday feel with stunning sea views. One of the most enjoyable days that we spent at 'Braemar' involved having breakfast on the viewing platform, walking down to the harbour and catching the small boat across to the island of Kerrera. We explored the island and its heritage and then had lunch at the lovely small timber restaurant looking back over the bay towards Oban and 'Braemar'. After an afternoon trip to Dunollie House and Castle we rounded the day off with a glass of wine and a BBQ on the viewing platform watching the Western sun setting over Mull. In and around the area of Oban and Lorne there are a large variety of outdoor pursuits that can be undertaken and a number of companies offer a large selection of outdoor and adventure pursuits. From Canoeing and Kayaking, Gorge Walking or Coasteering to fishing, archery, stalking, golf and horse riding there are plenty of exciting activities to do!
