The SpaceThe Cottage at Quail Acre is a bright and airy 2 room space consisting of a bedroom and an adjoining room containing a breakfast bar with space and facilities to prepare basic food - there is a microwave inside the cottage and your own private covered outdoor cook-station attached to the cottage. The Toilet Room & Shower Room are NOT inside The Cottage. The Shower Room and toilet room are separate and are both attached to our main house approximately 10 meters away down the path from the cottage. Although the shower room and toilet room are attached to the main house, they are your own private facilities. In the bedroom, there is a queen bed, 2 bedside tables with bedside lamps. Blackout blinds, hanging rail, 2 director chairs and a TV with built-in DVD player. The breakfast bar room is equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, sink & draining board, kettle, coffee plunger, toaster, cutlery, cork screw, bottle opener, chopping boards, salad serving spoons & salad bowels, colander, sieve, large cooking pot, small saucepan, small frying pan, bread knife, paring knife, kitchen paper, hand soap, tea towel, oven gloves, washing up liquid & sponge. There are also complementary tea bags, plunger coffee, sugar and a bottle of milk. There is a microwave in The Cottage, and an outdoor cook-station with Barbecue and 2 burner gas hob. This for your own use should you want to cook something to eat if you don't want to go out to sample one of our many local cafes, bars or restaurants. The breakfast bar is made from local Macrocarpa wood and has 2 bar stools to sit on and look out across the garden. There is a spa/bath towel, hand towel & face cloth for each guest. There is also a bath robe, hair drier, blanket, hot water bottle and electric heater should you need them. You have your own private deck with views across the garden and out to sea. There is an outside table & chairs for your use as well as a large sun umbrella. There is plenty of parking space so if you have a campervan and just fancy a 'Real Bed' for the night, there is plenty of space to park up your van while you stay in The Cottage. We have a Zenbu WiFi Hotspot and each guest gets 500mb of data for free - there will be an access code voucher for each guest in the cottage when you arrive. If you require additional data then it will cost a very reasonable 1 NZ cent per MB - you sign up via the Zenbu Website. Please feel free to walk around and spend time in the gardens. In among the mature trees & shrubs, there are a couple of fish ponds and up the back behind the swimming pool is the orchard and veggie patch. During most of the year there are plenty of citrus fruits on the trees in the garden which you are more than welcome to pick. There is loads of bird-life and during the summer months, there are plenty of Quails zipping around the lawns:-) Guest AccessGuests are welcome to explore and relax anywhere in the gardens here at Quail Acre. Although the cottage does not have En Suite facilities, the separate shower room and toilet room are close to the cottage (the pathway is 10 metres) and they are your own private facilities attached to our main house. Interaction with GuestsWe like to give our guests space & privacy but we are more than happy to offer help and recommendations during your stay - just give us a shout:-) The NeighborhoodThe Cottage at Quail Acre is situated in the grounds of our family home on a semi-rural, no-through road in Riwaka. We are in a very quiet and peaceful location filled with birdsong but we are also a handy distance from local towns, pubs, restaurants, Kaiteriteri Beach, The Riwaka River, The Abel Tasman National Park, Tasman's Great Taste Cycle Trail and The Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park. Here in Riwaka we have a couple of cafes & fuel stations. The cafe's/coffee stops in Riwaka are Ginger Dynamite Go Go Food and Coffee and Mrs Smiths Cafe & Vegetables both situated on Main Road. Also on Main Road, opposite Ginger Dynamite is The Hop Federation Brewery. They do tastings and sell riggers and bottles of their many brews. Motueka is a larger town and is approx 10 mins drive from Quail Acre. It has many eating and drinking options and also 2 supermarkets. Getting AroundFor getting around, there isn't any public transport so you would need either a vehicle or a cycle as we are very close to the Tasman Great Taste Cycle Trail:-) There are buses running from Motueka to Nelson and from Motueka to Golden Bay. Other Things to NoteAs shown in the photo's and photo descriptions, The Shower Room & Toilet Room are not En Suite (not within the Cottage itself). They are a very short distance away down a 10 metre pathway, attached to the main house. N.B. The Shower Room & Toilet Room are two separate rooms approx. 7 metres away from each other. Please note that there is a microwave but not a cook-top/stove inside The Cottage. There is a covered outdoor cook-station attached to the cottage for your own use should you want to cook something to eat if you don't want to go out to sample one of our many local cafes, bars or restaurants. We have plenty of parking space which is close to The Cottage. We have a Zenbu WiFi Hotspot and each guest gets 500mb of data for free - there will be an access code voucher for each guest in the cottage when you arrive. If you require additional data then it will cost a very reasonable 1 NZ cent per MB - you sign up via the Zenbu Website.
