The SpaceThe Cottage itself features two double bedrooms and an open plan lounge/dining room/ kitchen. Bi-fold windows open onto the expansive deck bringing the view right into the house and both bedrooms open onto decks along the front and side of the house. The Sleep Out is a large open plan room with a queen size bed, a double bed and a lounge area. "I bought a view...and the house came with it..." Winston Churchill. And ain’t that the truth! What a magical, tranquil sanctuary!! Lay back on the deck on the old cane sunlounger, looking over Mt. Karioi and the inner harbour. Take the winding path down to the harbour walkway for a leisurely stroll around the bay. Listen to the gulls, Tui's and Morepork's while reading a book or flick through a magazine. Ahh, this is heaven - you will have to be prised out of here - you will never want to leave... All you have to do is arrive... •TV •WiFi •Microwave •Radio/Stereo/iPod dock •Easy access •Washing machine •Clothes Dryer •Oven •Fridge •Freeview TV ® •Mobile coverage - Vodafone •Mobile coverage - Telecom •Mobile coverage – 2 Degrees •Toddler safe •Wheelchair access •Shower •Bath •Hair dryer • Services Linen: Sheets and towels provided Cleaning expectations: Visitors to clean-up and leave the property as found Guest AccessAll areas - the Bach and Sleep Out are rented out as one space. Interaction with GuestsI am generally within 10 to 15 mins of the bach so if any help is needed please don't hesitate to call. Am also available to answer any questions throughout your stay. The NeighborhoodThe Point House is a short walk from the centre of the picturesque village of Raglan yet is incredibly private. In fact the house cannot be seen from land apart from a brief glimpse and for that you need some local knowledge! The house also enjoys easy access to the estuary via a path which leads down to the water from the deck. There is a walkway at the foot of the track which runs around the estuary to the village - this can take anywhere from 25 mins to 40 mins, depending on which way you walk. Getting AroundThe Point House is within 10 mins drive from the major surfing breaks - Manu Bay and The Indicators at Whale Bay. The most popular swimming beach is a 5 minute drive from the house. The estuary and harbour can be accessed from various points near the town and kayaks and stand up paddle boards can be hired from a variety of outlets in town. The town features a number of cafes open during the day, several of which remain open in the evenings for dinner. Which ones open does vary with the season so please don't hesitate to give me a call if you want further information or recommendations. There are also a variety of stores featuring local and international gifts, books, clothes etc. Zinnia and Atamira on opposite sides of Wainui Road are among our favourites alone with Kanuka which specialises in NZ made and Jet Collective which is a co-operative of local artists. The best fish and chips, fresh fish etc can be found down at the wharf a couple of minutes drive from town - just head for the silos and you will find the wharf area. The wharf is also home to Tony Sly a famous NZ potter who is one of the few artisans producing hand made pottery on a commercial scale, Other Things to NoteThe Point House is a characterful old New Zealand bach which shows it's age but wears it gracefully. It is a shabby chic family bach, not a luxury resort.

The SpaceThis is a large self-contained studio, with it's own entrance from the lower deck of our Raglan home. It includes a private bathroom, and basic kitchenette with microwave, kettle, toaster, and fridge - PLEASE NOTE, NO STOVE TOP. Access is by walking down our short (but steep) driveway, as well as some landscaped stairs to the lower deck. The studio is quite private, with outlook being mostly bush, and Mt. Karioi in the distance. It's a 10-minute walk down to the town centre, less than one km away. The room sleeps a maximum of 3 persons (1 double bed, 1 single). • Wi-Fi *NOTE BELOW • fridge • microwave • electric kettle • toaster • cutlery and crockery WIFI NOTE: Some phones seem to only receive a weak signal from downstairs. Certain areas of the room have better reception, so please let us know right away if you have any issues. Guest AccessThe property slopes down from street level. Parking available beside our letterbox. Please don't drive down driveway, the lower parking bay is not for guest use. The room has its own entrance, accessed by walking down the short (but steep) driveway and some landscaped stairs to our lower deck. Shared spaces include: lower deck area with BBQ, laundry room and washing line (no dryer). Interaction with GuestsWe’d love to help you get to know Raglan. We can provide lots of information on what’s happening in town, places to go and things to do - and of course… what the surf’s doing! As we both work from home, we’ll be around most of the time, in case you need anything. We do however respect your privacy, and are happy to give our guests plenty of space. The NeighborhoodOur house is in a typical Raglan residential area approx 1km from the town centre. Our street has lighting, but no footpath, and curbing one side only (our side). We have neighbours either side, but it's generally a very quiet neighbourhood - and the outlook from the studio is mostly bush, quite private. Raglan itself is a vibrant town with great cafes, galleries and a lively music scene (especially in summer). The rocky points, well known as one of the best surfing destinations in the country, are 8km from town. There’s also a very popular black-sand beach, typical of our west coast, with lifeguards on duty during the summer and surf lessons year-round. The road that continues along the coastline offers stunning views, more remote beach options, and also accesses many bush walks including a hiking trail up Mt. Karioi. Getting AroundThe centre of town is a 10 minute walk downhill (perhaps 15 min back up). The Norrie Ave bus stop is an easy 2-minute walk, with regular daily service to/from Hamilton. If required, there are shuttle services available to Auckland Airport. For total freedom, having a car is recommended. We can help you with maps of the local area, and places to see. Other Things to NoteWe really appreciate knowing in advance when to expect your arrival, so please let us know this, and keep us informed of changes. We generally pencil check in for 3pm or after, and check out by 11am, but can often jiggle that around. So let us know your plans, and we can finalise your arrival details. We have a cat who can be quite entertaining, when she appears. We also have friends and family that occasionally visit. But for the most part, our home is very quiet and relaxed. Please note our property, including the outdoor areas, is strictly non-smoking. We’re very ‘resource conscious’ in this house. The planet will appreciate it if you can also be aware of this yourself, and minimise whenever possible : )

Private 1920's bach (traditional NZ cottage) with stunning views over Raglan estuary to Mt Karioi. Completely self contained and while totally private is only 5 mins walk from the village centre and 5 mins drive to some of the worlds most stunning beaches. The Cottage itself features two double bedrooms and an open plan lounge/dining room/ kitchen. And ain't that the truth!
