The SpaceThe Laundry is just that - a former Laundry. With a growing interest in small spaces I had it relocated onto this magic spot - it has undergone a complete makeover and is a testament to what can be achieved when one is keen to lessen their footprint without compromising the experience and maintaining a 5 star getaway for guests to relax and enjoy. The NeighborhoodThe views are 'drop dead gorgeous' - beautiful 20 minute walk to the river (you can also drive) - stunning spot to enjoy a picnic or a spot of trout fishing if you are a keen fisherman! Morison's Bush has been a favourite freedom camping site for decades but don't tell anyone as they like to keep it a secret!! Getting AroundThe Laundry at the Greytown Hideaway is 5 minutes by car to the nearest town (Greytown) or 8 minutes to the renowned wine district of Martinborough (where I grew up) and a 10 minute drive from the nearest Railway Station at Woodside. As it is in the country it would be preferable for guests to have their own means of transport as the public taxi service is limited.

Trains run between Wellington and Woodside Station (Greytown) being our nearest station, about 5km out of town and connected to the town by a shuttle bus service. The Wairarapa is also fabulous for cycling - there is a gorgeous rail trail for easy cycling in Greytown, and for the more adventurous, the Rimutaka Cycle Trail, which you can start in Featherston Other Things to NoteThe self service continental breakfast includes tea, coffee, bread, a choice of mini cereals and fresh milk, bread, butter, jam and marmalade. Westwood is a wonderful country experience, just a short stroll away from the cafes and shops of Greytown. You enter down a winding drive past a huge formal Italian-inspired herb garden and there it is. This beautiful homestead is set amongst landscaped gardens, graced by mature trees and a stunning mountain vista. Once you have settled in and had a good look around it will dawn on you what a relaxing time is in store. Everywhere you look the attention to detail and the pure quality of the place is evident. Jill Kemp, Westwood's warm and hospitible owner, will encourage you to feel at home and enjoy the experience of Westwood. Set on nine acres of land, Westwood is all about peace and serenity. The grounds are beautiful with formal gardens, mature trees (including an English oak reputed to be the third oldest in NZ), a pond and stream, paddocks grazed by black-faced sheep.... Bring your gumboots, you'll love it.
