The SpaceThe valley and parks are filled with a variety of trees. The hills on either side of the valley provide more contrast. We see the changing seasons and days from our wonderful site on the hill. It is a great place also, to see rainbows!To the west is the snow capped Tararua Ranges in winter, and the main road north or south, yet it is quiet here, no traffic noise, instead we often hear the native Tui and see the waxeyes and other birds gathering food or using their unique calls. To the east are the beaches of Castlepoint and Riversdale. There are many golf courses within the region, some rural and others on the outskirts of Masterton. One is less than five minutes walk away. Our personal garden space is an added bonus. Gem, our labradoodle especially loves the lawn. Guest AccessGuests are able to use the opposite end of the house, with separate outside entry, their own parking space off the street, and their separate toilet and bathroom facilities. The laundry with washing machine is also at that end of the house. Views from the bedroom are to the south east, towards the public hospital and down the valley towards Wellington. The eastern hills are also in the bedroom view. The yard is available. Smoking is to be outdoors. Outdoor furniture is also at the guests end of home. Interaction with GuestsContinental breakfast will be provided for guests to choose when they are ready. The kitchen, dining and living areas are accessible. The NeighborhoodThe neighbourhood consists of mainly professional working people, most are home owners rather than renting. The area is tidy, and well planted. The Masterton Golf course is further up the hill, and a new "executive" subdivision, Ardsley Park, is at the top of the hill. Manuka Reserve, five minutes walk away, provides good access to several lime pathways, suitable for cycling and walking. Dogs are allowed in these areas. Getting AroundBus stops for local transport are within five minutes walk. Most service places within Masterton can be accessed by foot, for those of average fitness. Tranzit operate the bus service which also connects up to national transport services. Cycleways are well laid out, and connect, to access the recreational and service areas. there are no traffic lights or motorways in Masterton. Roundabouts and intersections control traffic, for those who obey the rules. Always be prepared for the other driver forgetting them!
There is a daily service from Masterton Rail Station to Wellington. Other Things to NoteGluten Free options are available. Breakfast, tea and coffee are included in the one room fee. No allowance is made for more than two guests. However, a pull out sofa is available in a separate room, at an extra charge, $20.
