The SpaceOur small cozy guest apartment is on the second floor of a renovated historic building located in Nordnes, a peaceful neighborhood in Bergen. It is adjacent to our home, but has complete autonomy and privacy, lots of light, and some view to the City fjord (Puddefjorden).
The apartment has modern high standards with solid oak floors and bathroom tiles that are heated throughout. There is a balanced ventilation system, a fire-protection sprinkler system, central fire alarm, and free wireless connection.
The guest apartment has an open kitchen & living space, and a small bedroom with a double bed (US sized, ca. 140 cm wide) and a high quality spring mattress. Sleeping arrangements and space is best suited for a couple, but the sofa also folds out into a queen sized bed. The kitchen is well equipped for people who enjoy cooking, but there is no microwave. It has an oven with 4 cook-top burners, dishwasher, fridge, a good selection of cooking utensils, and there normally is a stock of herbs, spices, salt, sugar, and oils&vinegar available. If we are home, we can probably provide any needed utensils or spices. The bathroom has a shower, washer & dryer.
Enjoy a short walk (5-10 minutes) to downtown Bergen, Nordnes Park (with a heated swimming pool from May to September), and to the Aquarium. There are delis, restaurants, and shops nearby. Street parking is residential, but guest parking may be arranged upon request. There are several parking garages located close by (Search: Bergen Parkering AS). City Parking is located 500 meters away in Markeveien 7, 5012 Bergen. Guest AccessThe guest-apartment has washer and drier for exclusive use by the guests. High speed Wi-Fi, and TV with several international channels (Canal Digital Parabol), and active speakers with bluetooth. Only the entrance hallway is shared with the host. Interaction with GuestsWe live next door to the guest-apartment, and are normally present during the guest´s stay. We are happy to help our guest with advice on sightseeing, shopping and restaurants when need be. We love to cook, so will be happy to supply additional utensils if needed, and herbs and spices from our stock. The NeighborhoodNordnes is a peninsula and historic neighborhood in the city center of Bergen, only a short walk from the Central square (Torgalmenningen). It is one of the most sought-after residential areas in Bergen, with minimal car traffic, clean air, and closeness to the sea. You will find nice architecture at Nordnes, including the typical Bergen wooden houses, Sverres Berg Fort, narrow cobbled streets, and some local restaurants & cafes. The USF Verftet ("United Sardine factory") is a great cultural center located at Nordnes. Here you find art exhibits, concerts, Cinemateket for art movies, and Sardinen - a nice cafe with outdoor seating in the summer. At the tip of Nordnes is Nordnesparken, with a swimming pool open during summer, and the Aquarium which is open all year.
Getting AroundNordnes is within an easy walk to many of the city´s major sights. Buss 11 runs a loop around Nordnes with a stop at Klosteret, 100 m from our building. It takes 10 mins to walk to the tram (Bybanen) and to most bus stops for city travel, 20 mins to walk to the train station & main buss station, and 10 mins to the Coastal Express (Hurtigruten) terminal. Other Things to NoteDuring the Night Jazz Festival held at the Sardine Factory (Culture House in our neighborhood) in late May, early June you may expect some street noise from people walking by late at night. Indeed this can be expected in most of the Historic city during Festivals so maybe best to join in on the fun.
