The SpaceWe've hosted a great number of fantastic people of all ages and all nationalities – we'd love to have you as our next visitor! Our guests are typically young at heart (but aged up to 78 years old so far!) and eager to explore Bergen by foot, hence seeking a central location.
Excellent location and very high standard make this apartment ideal for your stay in Bergen - located literally a five minute walk away from Bryggen (the wharf), Bergen's most famous place (and conveniently, the final bus stop of the airport bus).
Our guest room has comfy bed awaiting you (Width: 140cm = 55 inches), so you can rest well after a day hiking the mountains or tasting local specialities at the fish market.
Our apartment is 90 square metres (1000sq.feet), most of which is accumulated in a big combined living room/kitchen. We have a spacious bathroom, and you get to borrow a towel upon arrival to save you luggage space. Laundry machine is also present and available if you wish to do some washing, and a hair dryer keeps your curls under control.
Our past guests' 3 favourite aspects of our place are:
1) "Its modern, minimalist style – high quality amenities, beautiful interior and selected artwork on the walls."
2) "Location, location, location – walkability and proximity to everything."
3) "The fact that we (the guests) can choose to be social in the living room or pull back in our bedroom after a long day".
We believe in honesty and accuracy, so here are our past guests' 3 least favourite aspects of our place (and our comments):
1) "Can hear cars pass if the window is open at night" (true that – the price to pay for staying in an urban area. We now provide all our guests with new earplugs to use if they are bothered by the occasional nightly car passing by).
2) "No television" (true again; some of our guests have had this problem. We recommend checking out nature instead. If nothing else, we have fast Wi-Fi, so you can watch fun stuff on your phone/laptop as much as you want!).
3) "Sometimes there were plates or glasses at the kitchen counter" (most certainly true. We live our daily lives in this home – if this is problematic for you, this may not be the ideal rental for you. In that case, check out my other listings!)
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Will I get the entire apartment to myself?
A: No, this is a private room in an apartment, not the entire space. You get your room to yourself, and share living room/kitchen/bathroom with us (3 young folks). We don't bite, so don't you worry!
Q: How do I get to the apartment?
A: If you arrive from the airport; take the airport bus to Bryggen (final stop), then walk 5 minutes.
If you arrive by train, walk 20 minutes through the city center, and here you are. Please do print a map from Airbnb before you get to Bergen. After a confirmed order, you get the address and closer descriptions - please read them carefully.
Q: What do you recommend to do in Bergen?
A: Check out my detailed guidebook here on Airbnb by scrolling down to the map in the listing description. Here, I've placed pins on all my favourite attractions, restaurants, bars and where to go grocery shopping. If you need further information on things to do, I'll be more than happy to provide you with information when you book your stay with us.
Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens?
A: Nope! We provide these things to save you luggage space and hassle. Also, to further un-hassle your travel, you can use our laundry machine, hair dryer and kitchenware as you please.
Q: What does "Flexible" check-in/-out time mean?
A: We will try to accomodate your check-in or check-out, no matter what time it is. We will sort all of this out if you message us.
Q: I see I'm renting a "Private Room". How much privacy do I have?
A: You have your own bedroom, and share bathroom and kitchen/living room with us. When you want to be social, join us in the living room! If you want to pull back and relax, close the door to your bedroom and chill out.
Q: Do I get breakfast?
A: Not unless you make it yourself – but feel free to steal our oatmeal :-)
See you soon!
(PS! Please start your request message with "Howdy, Jacob". That way, I know you've actually read the whole thing through. Thanks!) Guest AccessEvery inch of the apartment is shared space, except the sleeping rooms of others. Interaction with GuestsWe're three students who live here in our own separate rooms, but the amount of contact is largely up to you. Your room is shielded from the rest of the apartment, so you can really choose whether or not to hang out with us in the living room. :-)
We will be in and out of the apartment during the day as we head off to study or work each morning. The NeighborhoodThe area is a beautiful one made up of old wooden houses, a traditional way of house-building in Bergen. Many of the houses around are old, crooked and skewed, small and very charming. The rest of the city is a stroll away, and the small city centre area is ideal for exploration by foot.
Check out my guidebook on the front of this listing for great tips on where to go, what to see and where to eat! Getting AroundThe airport bus stops a 5 minute walk from here, and regular buses are 2 minutes walking away. However, the location is so central that if you're going to stick around the city centre, walking is the best option. Other Things to NoteYou can reach out to me with any questions about the apartment whatsoever, I'll be more than happy to help!
