cosy rustic cottage is situated at the edge of a mountain village in the Serra de Monchique. It is ideally located just a short walk away from the cafés, restaurants, shops, post office and internet access. Marmelete is a traditional Algarvian village, but has also a friendly international community. There are beautiful walks nearby and the Via Algarviana (a 240 km footpath that traverses the Algarve from Alcoutim to Cape Saint Vincent) passes through the village. The West Coast (great for surfing) is just a 15-20 minute drive (17 km from Aljezur) and only a little further on the south coast lies the historic town of Lagos and many more beaches. The mountain town of Monchique and the spa village, Caldas de Monchique, are also about a twenty minute drive. The accommodation can sleep a family of four. There are two small bedrooms, both with double beds (190 x 140 and 190 x 130) and there is also a loft space with a single mattress. The open plan lounge/kitchen is small but well equipped. The kitchen area has a gas cooker, fridge, microwave and expresso machine. The lounge area has a sofa, a table and a satellite television (Astra). The bathroom has a bath with shower over and a bidet. There is also a washing machine, a wood burner and two electric heaters making the accommodation ideal for longer rentals and/or winter lets. The house is south-south-east facing and outside there are beautiful views over the south coast and the village. There is ample parking in front of the house and an outside space to the side can be used by guests to sit outside and barbecue. (Please note that this is communal land and the neighbours occasionally use the area to dry washing.)

simple, clean, modern first floor apartment moments from the town centre and equally close to miles of unspoilt country walks. the apartment was totally renovated only two years ago, double glazed and well insulated so cool in summer and lovely and warm in winter. Monchique is a small traditional village with all modern amenities which include........ indoor and outdoor swimming pools free internet centre library many restaurants with traditional and international cuisine local cafes and bars post office banks pharmacies hospital/doctors dentists public transport taxi service tourist information service heliport daily vegetable/fish market regular gypsy/artisan market most local cafe and restaurant workers speak good english but you will get a chance to practice a little portuguese if you feel adventurous ! the southern beaches and lively nightlife are less than a 30 minute drive away as are the quieter west coast beaches famous with surfers. there is ample parking but if you plan a walking holiday a car is not necessary as all you require is within easy distance and we can arrange an airport pickup from Faro International Airport on request, it is just 45 minutes away. Monchique is a quiet peaceful village which continues practicing many traditional arts and crafts. there are miles and miles of forest trails which allow access to the unspoilt countryside for the experienced or novice rambler/bicycler. there is an abundance of wildlife, fungi and wildflowers/herbs. there is a growing interest , of which we are part, in helping the local community to maintain the traditional crafts passed down from generation to generation we are from the UK and have lived in this village for 14 years ,know or are known by most of the locals and have lots of local knowledge. we are available to advise and assist in any way. come visit us for a relaxed refreshing vacation. can you imagine that a village has existed here for over 1000 years !

****Please read well before booking! ***Not recommended for people with bad allergys or that don’t like animals! Converted garage, plenty of space! The house is inside our garden fence, but separate from the main house there is space to park your car outside. Inside the house has a double bed, a single bed at the back. One corner is a sitting area with and a small coffee table, sofa bed and chair, the other corner is the kitchen area, it has a sink, oven and a small fridge and a shelf with a few basic kitchen utensils, plates and cutlery ( sorry, no microwave or coffe machine!). All the furniture is well used, so don't expect a new apartment! There is an outside toilet and shower (the toilet and shower are private but separate from the guest house, 5m away). Outside on the small private patio there is a dining table and chairs and you can also borrow our small portable grill. If you have kids they are welcome to use our garden, and play with the kids outside toys. Our water comes from a bore-hole and is perfectly fine for washing and showers but has a high mineral content and is not recommended for drinking or cooking, so I recommend you bring your own bottled water. It also leaves a brown stain in the shower and sink that can easily be mistaken for dirt, but is impossible to wash of! Kids and pets are always welcome, but please no smoking indoors. We do not have TV, heating or air conditioning! Our WiFi is mobile, it costs us to connect so we charge guests a 1 Euro per hour fee, but please be aware that it is not fast and not very relyable! The house is listed as suitable for people with restricted mobility, we have had guests in wheelchairs before but it's not completely wheelchair friendly, there is a ramp leading up to the room, but some might find it a bit to steep, and the bathroom and shower both have a step and no rail. We have cats and dogs that are not encouraged to go in the rooms, but will often try to, the dogs bark at strangers but are very friendly once they have been introduced to you. There are sparrow nests between the roof tiles so expect to hear them early in the morning. There is often a gecko in the room and don't be surprised if you find a frog in the shower! We are on the main road, but 10km south of the nearest town (Aljezur) and 20km north of Lagos. There are loads of lovely beaches in the area, but you need to have a car if you want to get to them as public transport is almost non existent. There's a bus stop close to our house, but very few buses come by. Nearby beaches include: Arrifana, Amado, Carrapateira, Vale de Figuiras, Amoreira. Horse riding and carriage driving can be arranged at discount prices. Any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

The SpaceCasa Mirante has 2 Bedrooms which serve for an couple and two children and another bedroom for one couple. Our apartment has place for 3 people,it has a bedroom for two and bed-couch for one in the livingroom + a kitchen. .From the apartment you have a very nice view above Monchique and up to the mountain Picota. Guest AccessYou have access to our nice little snackbar which has a sunny terrace surrounded by a garden and we have a place for playing table tennis. Interaction with GuestsWe serving breakfast for 5.00€ extra. If you need some information or help José is most of his time around and he speaks Portugues, German and +- English. The NeighborhoodMonchique is good for relaxing or active holidays. You can book some yoga lessons or you can go hiking, they exists a lot of trails from short to very long ones. On the mountain Foia you can do some radical sports in a new adventure park or mountain biking,canoeing,slide, etc... Below the centre of the town you find a very nice and big swimming pool with free access. In Monchique you find a lot of shops with local products including the famous firewater Medronho, supermarkets,banks,post-office, good restaurants, coffees and some night bars. Getting AroundPublic transport only exists to Portimão to the southcoast of the Algarve. In the town centre are taxis available.

The SpaceA romantic Bed and Breakfast with a great breakfast, for many guests it was the best they had in Portugal. Soft springbox beds, individual or joined with a topper and Egyptian cotton sheets. Every room has an individual walk-in shower, hairdryer, shampoo and soft towels. Situated at the edge of a small village and in the middle of a natural reservation 'Serra de Monchique' at half an hour drive from the famous Algarve beaches and twenty minutes from Golf courses. Spa d'Alma is ideal for those that look for a peaceful holiday in the middle of nature, love hiking or bird watching. Simply sit with a book in the shade enjoying the sound of silence. A unique location amidst the mountains and forests of the "Parque Natural Serra de Monchique, close to the village Alferce and at a 5 minutes drive to the piitoresqie mountainvillage Monchique. The house is surrounded by the corktrea and eucalyptus-forests (typical for this environment) and of from your lazy chair on the porch you have spectaculair views. The house is perfect for those who appreciate the tranquility and for those who like to hike, As the house as starting point, you can leave for numerous walks in the beautiful surroundings. By car it takes a 25 minutes to the most famous beach on the southcoast, Praia da Rocha. More Met de auto bent u binnen 25 minuten bij het meest beroemde strand van de zuidkust: Praia da Rocha. U kunt ook wat verder rijden voor de kleinere, meest practige strandjes waar de Algarve beroemd om is. Verder is het slechts veertig minuten van de veel ruigere, maar doorgaans rustige westkust. The SpaceB&B Horta do Zé Miguel consists in three houses. Casa da Terra has three berrooms and a great view from the terrace. Casa do Céu has four bedrroms, a large mezzanine with tv and you also have a library near the fire place. Casa da Família is the smallest house and it is usually rented to a family who wants to stay independently. It has a bedrrom, kitchen, living room and small mezzanine where children can sleep. Long stays and groups have special prices. Guest AccessGuest have full access to the outside areas such as the common kitchen, barbecue area, our kitchen garden where they can pick up the oranges. The NeighborhoodThe exact location of our houses is a small gathering of buildings called Corgo do Vale. It is too small to be called a village, but still offers one of the best restaurants in the area Tasca do Petrol. Their specialty is local, traditional cuisine. There is also a small convenience store accross the road, with freshly baked bread most mornings. Getting AroundFrom the house you have plenty of nice walks to do. The famous walk "Via Algarviana" is just a few minutes walking from the house. The beaches on the west coast are 30 minutes driving. The village of Monchique is 15 minutes driving. The nearest village is Marmelete and it is 5 minutes driving.

The Quinta has its own well with the very best water quality, as it is situated close to the former Roman baths of Caldas de Monchique. We have apartments in three varying sizes on our 17,000 m² grounds. Each apartment has its own terrace, an inviting area to sit together for al fresco dining and barbequing, offering spectacular views of both the South and West coast of the Algarve. A fireplace and an underground heating system ensure a cosy stay even in the cooler months. All apartments have satellite TV and Wi-Fi. The 75m² apartment is on two levels and consists of an upstairs with bedroom and bathroom and a rooftop terrace. The open plan kitchen and the living room are on the ground floor and open out to the terrace and garden with excellent views of the coast. The SpaceThis traditional Portuguese cottage lies on the edge of Marmelete, a peaceful village in the Monchique hills. It’s at the end of a quiet road, with no other houses in front or behind it. This is an unspoilt Portuguese village with few tourists. You can get a good taste of traditional Portuguese village life, and there is a lively and friendly local community. The house was carefully restored by me in 2013. The roof is insulated with cork, and there is a velux rooflight. There’s a kitchen/diner, a bedroom in the front with a double bed(190cm x 140cm) and window.from that room you pass directly to the bathroom. it is possible to set up a guest bed. This south facing house is sheltered from the wind and you can enjoy outdoor living even in the winter – have your breakfast outside in the sun! The views across the village to the south coast are truly spectacular. Marmelete is a village in the Serra de Monchique, which is a unique nature reserve. From here, the geographical centre of the West Algarve, you can explore by car, bike or foot, far from the pressures and crowds of the tourist resorts. Here you will find beautiful countryside, friendly people, good value traditional Portuguese restaurants, all within walking distance. By car its only 15-20 minutes to dozens of unspoilt sandy beaches with awesome rock formations, each with its own special, unique beauty.The towns of Lagos,Portimão and Silves are all easy day trips. The mountain town of Monchique and the spa village, Caldas de Monchique, are also about a twenty minute drive. Heating costs in the winter will be charged extra free w-lan in 100 m distance and all bars and restaurantes The house has been registered with Tourism Authority under the number 742 / AL and checked for serviceability, hygiene and safety. The SpaceSplit over two levels, the house is very spacious and bright. It features chestnut wood and bamboo ceilings, terracotta floors and stone walls re-built in a traditional way. You have a separate Bbq area near the pool and an extensive front terrace where you can enjoy outside meals with the most amazing of views. The kitchen features all the mod cons you need to cook. Southcoast (swimming and sunbathing), westcoast ( surfing and natural park), cities (Lagos+Portimao) and the serra de monchique (trekking) is just 20 km away. Getting AroundAn own car is necessary. The SpaceLocated in a private woodland area with cork trees on a peak within 5 minutes by car of the town of Monchique. Water is from its own private Monchique water bore hole with no calcium deposit. Located within 5 minutes by car of the town of Monchique with its numerous restaurants, cafes, shops and village facilities, this unique villa is a really lovely spot offering you some of the best views of the Algarve. It is a very relaxing location to chill out and relax and has one double bedroom en suite downstairs, off the lounge, and two double bedrooms and a twin sharing a family bathroom upstairs. The front entrance leads into a small lounge, turning left you find yourself in a spacious light living room with three sets of French windows from which to soak in the views. There is a flat screen satellite TV in the antique cupboard complete with DVD player. From the lounge there is a lovely south facing patio area from the living room leading to a barbecue area and at night you can see the lights from Portimao all the way to the furthest western point of Europe at Sagres. To the left of the lounge accessed from a pair of double wood and glass doors is the formal dining room also with French windows opening out to the south terrace. On the other side of the lounge is the door leading to the double suite which has patio doors leading out to the terrace with wooden sofa and arm chairs and barbecue area with table and chairs for those meals al-fresco from which to enjoy the natural landscape, sensational views and gardens. The kitchen is modern and well equipped and has a breakfast table for four. The oven is gas and the hob electric, there is also a dishwasher and washing machine and dryer. The back door of the kitchen leads out to the storage and barbecue area. The stairs in the hall lead you to the upstairs landing. The first bedroom on the right is the small green twin. Next room is the master double which has a Bonaparte style extra bed/sofa which can make up into another bed for two and has patio doors leading out to the terrace and fabulous views. Opposite is the full family bathroom. The last double bedroom is next to the master also with patio doors leading out to the south facing terrace. The pool area is located away from the villa accessed from the south facing front terrace by some stone steps which take you down to the generous, secluded pool area which is a real sun trap. The pool is a large, approximately 15 x 6 with both built in and free standing steps and surrounded by a lovely terrace with sun beds. There is also a poolside shower. A perfect holiday hideaway for those wishing to leave the coast behind however, owing to the number of levels within the villa this property is not suitable for toddlers or persons with restricted mobility.                   Casa Abilheira is a secluded, south facing villa in the mountains with stunning views across the Algarve. It has a 12 metre swimming pool reached by steps through the delightful garden. The property is set in over an acre of land, landscaped round the house with attractive shrubs and flowers. The majority of the accommodation is on the first floor; living room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, utility room and sun terrace. The two bedrooms and the living room open on to the large, private sun terrace, with shaded area. In the summer months this is the place to eat out and relax. The living room is open plan with dining area, 2 seating areas, television and wood burning stove. The kitchen is traditional and very well equipped. The ground floor has two bedrooms with French windows to the garden, two bathrooms and a seating area. The pool has a new insulated cover and has child safety gates. It is 12 metres long, the depth ranges from 2m-1.5m and there are wide steps for children to play on. There are sun loungers, a shaded area and a toilet by the pool. The villa is ideal for a relaxing holiday, with plenty of opportunities for walking, exploring the beautiful countryside, visiting both the south and west coasts and the local towns such as Monchique or simply relaxing by the pool. We have a very good, part-time maid who comes 3 afternoons a week. We have an English speaking gardener/handyman who lives close by and can answer any questions.                     The Space'Relva de Cima' is situated at an altitude of 600m on the south side of Fóia mountain, the highest peak of the Sierra de Monchique mountain range 15 miles inland from the Algarve coastline. An unspoiled picturesque part of the Algarve that enjoys breathtaking views, irresistible local charm and excellent regional food. The property is surrounded by wild trees & land with an abundance of flora & fauna. A paradise for nature lovers, trekkers, conservationists & ramblers. Its remote roads and tracks offer a fantastic cycling and running environment. The garden of lawns and dry stone walls replicate the traditional walls farmers used to section off their crops. The property itself was built around an existing old farm house constructed from granite and mud visible by the sheer thickness of the walls (up to 3 feet thick). Where possible, natural locally sourced materials were used hoping to create a timeless Algarvian environment.                       Our house 'Casa Horta Velha' is situated in the 'Serra de Monchique', close to the 'Foia' the highest point in the Algave with spectacular views over Southern Portugal. The house is converted from an old Portuguese farmhouse (old house) with an attached newly built 1-storey house (new house), both renovated 2012. The house is set in a private location on a terraced hillside, 10 mins from Monchique and 35 mins easy driving to the west coast beaches and south coast beaches

                        The holiday cottage was built six years ago, having its own private access. The cottage is attached to the main house, which was originally a farmhouse. It is set in half an acre of garden (2,000 sq. meters) with orange trees, a large lawn and private swimming pool with an ample sunbathing area. There are many seating areas and some covered seating areas providing shade and two bbq areas. The property is in a very private and secluded location and there are no neighbours. The last 500 meters of access road is on a track through the wood so take care to drive slowly. We do not allow pets as we have dogs of our own, they are very friendly. There is now a private en suite king size bedroom available for B&B; guests in the main house with it's own private access through French doors from the garden, minimum stay 2 nights. A little piece of Paradise set in a little Oasis just off the main road, but totally private, secluded and peaceful. Access via a tarmac road which becomes a track, you will think you are on the wrong road but it is only 500 meters. There are no neighbours and a peaceful relaxing stay is guaranteed.
