The SpaceThe Ha'Burn B&B has one spacious double room and a family room with a double and single bed, both with en-suite bathrooms and digital television. We also have two basic double rooms that share a bathroom. Guests have full use of the kitchen and dining room including laundry services. Only half an hour from the outskirts of Edinburgh with a regular bus service from the local town of Biggar to and from we are the perfect place to stay if you are wanting to visit without worrying about where to park your car. In the Scottish Borders but less than 2 miles from the pretty market town of Biggar, The New Farmhouse is a generous, very well equipped self catering lodge with wood burning stove. It has its own private grounds with lockable bike shed, swings and plenty of parking. Ideal for families, mountain bikers, fishermen and anyone wishing a beautiful base from which to explore the Borders, South Lanarkshire or Edinburgh and Glasgow. Great for relaxing too with lovely views all round. Nestling in the north west corner of The Scottish Borders, The New Farmhouse is less than 3km from the pretty market town of Biggar which is bisected by the A72 on the line of a Roman Road which linked Clyde Valley to their Fort in Musselburgh. It is home to many small locally run shops including butchers, bakers, gift shops, cafes and restaurants. It boasts 5 museums and a wonderful puppet theatre as well as boating pond and golf course. For those seeking arts, crafts, theatre, music and cinema, check out what's on at Biggar Corn Exchange. Nearby is the World Heritage Site at New Lanark where you can discover the fascinating history of this impressive cotton mill village and the life and times of mill manager and social pioneer Robert Owen in the award-winning Visitor Centre.     The SpaceThe picturesque former market town of Biggar makes the perfect base for a huge range of attractions and activities in the south of Scotland. Ferniehaugh cottage was fully renovated in 2014 and behind the tiny frontage is an amazingly spacious, comfortable interior featuring beamed ceilings, woodburning stove, solid oak kitchen with conservatory off and a tranquil, beamed bedroom with kingsize bed and luxury linen upstairs. There is also a small outdoor seating area that catches the sun for most of the day. Facilities include full central heating, woodburning stove, washing machine, dishwasher, Smeg hob and oven, microwave, toaster and kettle, 32” Sony TV, Blu Ray player and Roku streaming stick with free Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer and Spotify. There is a traditional overhead airer (or 'pulley') in the kitchen. Basic supplies that are a nuisance to buy for holidays are provided (eg dishwasher and washing tablets, kitchen and toilet rolls, various teas, coffee, sugar, oil, salt, flour etc). An extra single bed can be provided in the sitting room for stays of 7 nights or more (otherwise, the sitting room is free beds). Taller guests should be aware of the sloping ceiling in the bathroom and guests with impaired mobility should note that there are fairly steep stairs to the upper floor. A car is not essential as there are regular bus services from Edinburgh and Lanark and Biggar not only has its own entertainments but everything you could possibly need. But there is so much to see and do around Biggar that it is certainly advisable if you would like to explore the wider area. Parking in Biggar is free and plentiful. Biggar’ central location makes a great base for exploring the surrounding local towns, countryside and visitor attractions such as Tinto Hill, the Falls of Clyde, New Lanark, Dawyck Gardens, Peebles and Little Sparta - see Guide Book for details. Biggar itself has a wealth of independent shops (including a fabulous bookshop), several traditional pubs and a range of restaurants - and its very own museum, opened in 2015, with permanent and regular guest exhibitions. Local pubs regularly host live music, often traditional, and special events include the Biggar Little Festival in October and the Biggar Bonfire on Hogmanay. The cottage is also very convenient for the Edinburgh Festival - and considerably cheaper than accommodation in the city while it's on!         The Cottage takes advantage of its beautiful setting with large French doors opening from the living-room onto a private decked area and garden.. Each bedroom has an en-suite bath or shower room and all rooms have wonderful views of hills and fields. You can literally count sheep to get to sleep or enjoy looking at the stars from your bed! The Cottage forms part of a former telephone exchange and was just converted in 2006, so everything is new and fresh! It is situated beside the famous River Tweed and close to Megget, Talla ,Fruid and St Mary's Lochs so there is ample opportunity for fishing, wind-surfing, canoeing and other water sports. The cottage is a great base from which to explore Scotland.         The Cottage takes advantage of its beautiful setting with large French doors opening from the living-room onto a private decked area and garden.. Each bedroom has an en-suite bath or shower room and all rooms have wonderful views of hills and fields. You can literally count sheep to get to sleep or enjoy looking at the stars from your bed! The Cottage forms part of a former telephone exchange and was just converted in 2006, so everything is new and fresh! It is situated beside the famous River Tweed and close to Megget, Talla ,Fruid and St Mary's Lochs so there is ample opportunity for fishing, wind-surfing, canoeing and other water sports. The cottage is a great base from which to explore Scotland. Broughton is a small village set in rolling hills about 7 minutes' drive from the cottage. it has a shop, garage/post-office, brewery, school, play-ground and tennis-court as well as a bistro bar which is open till late evening every day and serves delicious home-cooked food at reasonable prices. There is also an art gallery, museum and a colourful garden open to the public. It was home to John Buchan who wrote "The Thirty-nine Steps" and became govenor-general of Canada. The museum and the John Buchan Way walking route to Peebles are dedicated to him. Peebles is about 10 miles from Broughton and is a beautiful small town with the River Tweed running through it. There are many wonderful walks as well as a golf-course,shops, restaurants, swimming-pool and leisure centre to enjoy.It also has art galleries and an art centre and every June has a week of celebrations called the Beltane which includes lots of public gatherings where there is music and horse-riding and a grand parade of floats and marching bands. Horses are important in this area and Peebles has 2 riding schools.It has a castle (Neidpath) and near-by historic houses and lovely gardens to visit.

        Merlindale Holiday Apartment is part of a Victorian Country House set in 16 acres of beautiful parkland by the River Tweed. It has its own entrance and parking space and is very quiet and peaceful in the middle of stunning countryside. It has just been upgraded and refurbished to a very high standard and has been awarded a 5 star classification grade from the Scottish Tourist Board. It sleeps 4 very comfortably and consists of, one double bedroom with king size bed, one twin room, large lounge with log burning stove and dining area, well equipped kitchen with dining area and separate utility room and two bathrooms. The hall is large and has a table tennis table available for use of guests. All linen is provided together with central heating, hot water, logs and toiletries (Molton Brown) and a welcome pack of food containing freshly baked bread, butter, tea, coffee, milk, jams, cereals, free range eggs and Border biscuits.
