The SpaceBright colourful period home (1906), spread over two floors, with entry via an external staircase lined with flowerpots. The guest room is on the top floor and has a TV, radio, hairdryer and tea/coffee tray. The large breakfasting kitchen overlooks the enclosed rear garden. I'm a metalsmith and textile artist and also an avid traveller and collector so the house is full of colour and quirky objects. Dogs are welcome (I have a laid back golden retriever.) Guest AccessThere is a shared bathroom with a shower over the bath on the floor below the guest bedroom and you are very welcome to use the breakfasting kitchen in the evenings if you want to eat in. Interaction with GuestsI work from home so will be on hand if you'd like any tips on what to do or see locally. The NeighborhoodSet on the banks of the river Tay, Newburgh is on the Fife Coastal Path and a great place to explore Fife's history and countryside. You can reach St Andrews in just 30 minutes and in less than an hour you can be visiting the fishing ports of the East Neuk. Historic Scone Palace in Perthshire is less than half an hour away. For country auction lovers, nearby Dunshalt boasts a weekly Wednesday evening auction which is always great fun. Newburgh has a well-stocked Co-op, butcher and two bakers, plus a pub serving food on selected nights. There are also places to eat in nearby Abernethy, Falkland and, a little further away, in Perth and Cupar. Getting AroundThere is plenty of free on-street parking outside my home. Although car is the best way to explore Fife, Newburgh is pretty well served in terms of public transport. The nearest railway stations are at Ladybank (7 miles away) and Perth (11 miles away), with direct trains to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leuchars (for St Andrews), Inverness, and Aberdeen. Buses link Newburgh with Ladybank, Perth, St Andrews, Glenrothes etc. Other Things to NotePrice per night: £25 single occupancy, £40 double occupancy. Includes continental breakfast. Please note: There are two sets of stairs up to the guest bedroom (the second, internal one winds a bit) so if you are travelling with big or heavy suitcases, my home may not be ideal for you.

The SpaceGarden Cottage is a great place to go for peace and tranquility, in the beautiful Scottish countryside. Cosy and warm, but with modern technology too. Relax and unwind. The cottage has beds for 4 adults, plus a cot for a baby or toddler. Garden Cottage is right in the heart of our country estate in Fife, about 9 miles from St Andrews and its many golf courses, and we look forward to welcoming guests to our pretty cosy cottage. The cottage is detached, two storey, and set in its own garden, with a lawn to the front, and grass to the back, with woodlands at the side. It is sits on a private road, which is only used by cottage guests, and the very occasional tractor working on the estate. It is a peaceful place, with lots of traditional charm. Inside the cottage has a sitting room, dining room, kitchen and cloakroom with toilet on the ground floor, and upstairs, there is a bathroom which has a lovely showerbath, with fixed screen and power shower, toilet and basin, as well as 2 bedrooms - one with a double bed, the other with 2 twin beds. The beds are handmade by a local craftsman, from our own timber, and are made up with comfy toppers and cosy duvets. There is also a full size cot, and we are happy to supply bed linen and towels for your baby. The sitting room is comfortable and well equipped, with an open fire for the chillier times of year, or even just for the fun of having a crackling log fire burning in the evening. The sitting room has 2 big sofas, lots of cushions and free-sat television. There is also a DVD player and ipod docking station with radio. The cottage also has full central heating, and heating is included at certain times of year, and the settings are flexible. Please ask for details. The dining room can easily accommodate 4 or even 6 at the table, and there is also a piano, for the musically gifted! The kitchen is fully equipped with a cooker, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer and microwave. Outside the garden is stocked with flowers and herbs. The woodland and adjacent stream are often visited by deer, especially in the early morning, and as the kitchen overlooks the woods, you might be lucky enough to see a deer while you make your morning tea. In front of the cottage, in an open grassy area, is our duck pond, which has many wild ducks. In the spring, there are also many ducklings, swimming in line behind their mothers. We are also regularly visited by Harry the Heron, and very occasionally, by otters. On the estate, we breed Highland Cattle, the long-horned traditional Scottish cattle. They are very beautiful and can been seen on the farm at all ages - from the newly born calves to the mature cattle. Most of them have names, and all have different characters. In May, we host the Fife Agricultural Show in some of our fields. This is far enough away from the cottage that you will hardly notice it, but if you want to visit, there is lots to see and do, with show jumping, cattle, sheep and horse shows, as well as all sorts of traditional Scottish exhibitions and displays. On the Estate, about 100 yards from the cottage, is our tennis court, and guests are welcome to use it by arrangement. If you don't have room in your luggage to bring rackets, just let us know, and we'll provide some. Further afield, there is so much to see and explore in Fife. The Open Golf comes to St Andrews regularly, and was back again in July 2015, and in 2018 it comes to Carnoustie, which is roughly an hour from the cottage. St Andrews itself has much to see, from St Rules Tower, the Castle and the other historic areas. On the Fife Coast, there are the pretty East Neuk villages, such as Anstruther, and Pittenweem, and the Pittenweem Art Festival is not to be missed. The beach and forest at Tentsmuir is well worth a visit. Even in high summer the long white beaches are clean and quiet, and seals can often be seen basking in the sun ( the sun does actually shine quite a lot in Scotland - contrary to common belief!!). Edinburgh is only an hour away by train or car, with the Edinburgh Festival in August, and so many sights and shops to see and visit. The cottage also has free unlimited wi-fi internet access for guests to use. The cottage is about 9 miles from St Andrews, and so is perfect for golfers, or for visitors to the University. It really is our pleasure to welcome you to Garden Cottage, and we will do our best to make your stay in Fife a happy memorable one. We look forward to hearing from you! Guest AccessThe whole cottage, our tennis court, and space to walk around the estate, meet our highland cows and ponies, and then enjoy Fife, with its golf courses, history and beaches. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as guests want. We are close enough to help, but are happy to let you enjoy the peace and quiet without intrusion. The NeighborhoodScotland, and in particular, Fife, is beautiful. The countryside is green, with rolling fields and St Andrews is just a short hop away, with its world famous golf courses, University and history. The East Neuk of Fife, with iconic fishing villages, is easily accessible, and a bit further afield, Edinburgh is just a 60 min train journey away. So much to see and do, just on your doorstep. Getting AroundCupar train station is only a few minutes by car. Edinburgh is 60 minutes away in one direction, Dundee is 15 minutes in the other. The airport is in Edinburgh, with largely motorway road links. Other Things to NoteThe cottage has a full size cot for a baby or toddler. We can also supply, for an extra charge, a rollaway bed/futon, suitable for an older child.

Located close to St. Andrews (15 minutes drive) and Edinburgh (1 hour drive), it is an ideal setting for a holiday to explore the heart of Scotland. First sited in the 12th Century, Dairsie has been the location of secret Scottish parliaments, military sieges, and safe haven for escapee monarchs (James VI and I in 1583). Welcome to Garden Cottage. Garden Cottage is right in the heart of our country estate in Fife, about 9 miles from St Andrews and its many golf courses. The cottage has 2 bedrooms, and sleeps 4 plus baby or small child.. The cottage is detached, two storey, and sits in its own garden, with a lawn to the front, and grass at the back, with woodlands at the side. It is set on a private road, which is only used by cottage guests, and the very occasional tractor working on the estate. Inside the cottage has a sitting room, dining room, kitchen and cloakroom with toilet on the ground floor, and upstairs, there is a bathroom with showerbath and power shower, and 2 bedrooms - one with a double bed, the other with 2 twin beds. There is also a full size cot.We can also supply a futon bed, for a small extra charge. For each booking, we provide a welcome pack which will contain a selection of groceries to get you started, and we will provide a 'goodie bag' for children aged 3-12. you will also find some toys, games and DVDs in the cottage, to keep the children amused. Please make sure you tell us your children's ages when you book. The sitting room is particularly comfortable and cosy, especially when the open fire is burning brightly. It does make such a difference to any room, although even when the fire is not on, the sitting-room has a lovely 'feel' to it. Maybe it is the light from the double aspect windows, or the high ceiling, but it is a very relaxing room, and is a great place to just chill out. There is also a free-sat TV, and docking station, as well as BT Infinity wi-fi, which is free and unlimited. The cottage also has full central heating. The dining room can easily accommodate 4 or even 6 at the table, and there is a piano, for the musically gifted! The bedrooms are snug and traditional, with sloping eaves, dormer and velux windows in both bedrooms, and beautiful timber beds, deep toppers on each bed, and cosy duvets. Even when the weather is not so nice, there is something very comforting about hearing the rain on the velux, while you are warm as toast in bed. When the weather is good ( and it is good surprisingly often!) it's amazing to the leave the velux blind open, and gaze up at the stars. The kitchen is fully equipped with a cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer and microwave.Outside the garden is stocked with flowers. The woodland and nearby stream are often visited by deer, especially in the early morning, and as the kitchen overlooks the woods, you might be lucky enough to see a deer while you make your morning tea. The garden is great for children to play. It has a Little Tikes Slides, and plenty of room to kick a football, or ride bikes. There are no neighbours close enough to be troubled by boisterous games. In front of the cottage, is an open grassy area, beside our duck pond, which has many wild ducks. In the spring, there are also many ducklings, swimming in line behind their mothers. We are also regularly visited by Harry the Heron, and very occasionally, by otters. In May, we host the Fife Agricultural Show in some of our fields. This is far enough away from the cottage that you will hardly notice it, but if you want to visit, there is lots to see and do, with show jumping, cattle, sheep and horse shows, as well as all sorts of traditional Scottish exhibitions and displays.Near to our house, about 100 yards from the cottage, is our tennis court, and guests are welcome to enjoy it. If you don't have rackets with you, we'll be happy to lend you some. Further afield, there is so much to see and explore in Fife. The Open Golf comes to St Andrews regularly, and was back again in July 2015. St Andrews itself has much to see, from St Rules Tower, the Castle and the other historic areas. On the Fife Coast, there are the pretty East Neuk villages, such as Anstruther, and Pittenweem, and the Pittenweem Art Festival is not to be missed. Edinburgh is only an hour away by train or car, with the Edinburgh Festival in August, and so many sights and shops to see and visit. With every booking, we are delighted to send you a list of things to do, places to go, and local shops and restaurants to visit. We would be delighted to help with any more information you might need. Just ask! Payment is in GB pounds. On this website, payment is through holidaylettings only. Elsewhere, we accept UK cheques, Visa, Mastercard or American Express, or paypal. In Summer and Mid-season ( ie 1 June to 1 September ), central heating is not included in the rental price. For the rest of the year, central heating is included on a 'timed' basis, ie morning and evening, usually 10 hours per day, unless it is particularly cold when we are happy to increase it. Hours are flexible. Electric heaters are provided and included in the price, which can be used 24/7 if required. A starter pack of coal, and unlimited logs are included for the open fire. A folding bed is available for a child if required. There is a charge of ÂŁ30 per booking for this. Cupar is the old market town of Fife. There is still a Farmers Market once a month, where local farmers sell their produce. Fife Show is held on our farm in May each year, and is a great spectacle. It is however on the other side of the farm from Garden Cottage, and it is possible to completely ignore it, if you prefer not to participate. There are many historic places to visit, such as Falkland Palace, and other National Trust properties.

If you don't have room in your luggage to bring rackets, just let us know, and we'll provide some. Further afield, there is so much to see and explore in Fife. The beach and forest at Tentsmuir is well worth a visit. Even in high summer the long white beaches are clean and quiet, and seals can often be seen basking in the sun ( the sun does actually shine quite a lot in Scotland - contrary to common belief!!). Edinburgh is only an hour away by train or car, with the Edinburgh Festival in August, and so many sights to see. The cottage also has free wi-fi internet access for guests to use. The cottage is about 9 miles from St Andrews, and so is perfect for golfers, or for visitors to the University. We are happy to help with more information, to help you plan your stay. We look forward to hearing from you! Garden Cottage is on our estate, near the town of Cupar, in Fife. It is about 9 miles from St Andrews, so is perfect for golfers. There is much to see and do in this area. Obviously St Andrews is the place to start, with The Old Course and other golf courses, as well as the Castle, Golf Museum and plenty of good restaurants. Further down the coast there is the famous East Neuk of Fife, which is made up of many iconic fishing villages, such as Anstruther, Pittenweem and Elie. If you are lucky enough to be visiting when the Pittenweem Art Festival is on, you are in for a treat. For a short period, every year, the village is taken over by artists, who exhibit their works in venues throughout the village. Many of the venues are private cottages and houses, so visitors get to see the artwork and the houses at the same time. Further afield is of course Edinburgh, with its amazing Festival in August, and Perth. Carnoustie, another Open Golf venue, is only about 45-50 mins drive from Cupar. Cupar is easily accessible by road or rail. It is about an hour from Edinburgh Airport by road. The centre of Edinburgh is only an hour by rail, and there are frequent trains running through Cupar. The cottage has private parking beside it. Car hire is recommended.
