Two bedroom self catering cottage in the Fort William area of the Scottish Highlands - the "Outdoor Capital of the UK". From a large outdoor wooden terrace Lochaber Cottage has spectacular mountain views of Aonach Mor, site of the UK's only mountain gondola, and one of the UK's premier ski resorts. Set in a small hamlet of a few cottages, the location has a remote, isolated feel. Yet just 1.5 miles away the village of Roy Bridge has a train station, pub and restaurant. Lochaber Cottage also has mountain biking and hiking on your doorstep, with skiing, fishing, golf courses, kayaking, quad biking, pony trekking and distilleries all in the local area. The cottage is an ideal venue for hikers, golfers, skiers, cyclists or those into adventure sports. Equally, if you just want a relaxing time away in a peaceful location you can enjoy gentle strolls, have a barbecue on the deck admiring the view or get cosy by the real fire. The cottage is easy to get to - less than 3 hours drive from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen, only 10 miles from Fort William and with a direct sleeper train from London to Roy Bridge. The cottage is slightly off the beaten track so come here if you enjoy peace and quiet and if great views are more important to your holiday than mobile reception. The cottage is comfortably decorated, with comfy beds, a real stove, wifi and plenty of electric heating,. Just 10 miles from Lochaber Cottage, the town of Fort William is known as the 'Outdoor Capital of the UK.' In the other direction the Cairngorms National Park is nearby. Skiing at the Nevis Range is 15 minutes drive away, with the UK's highest mountain (Ben Nevis) just one of many easily accessible mountains. There are enough golf courses nearby to come for a week and play a different course each day. The Lochaber area is rich in opportunities for cycling and hill-walking, whether you are looking for a family outing or a serious challenge. Lochaber is one of the best locations for fishing and kayaking in Europe, plays host to a range of adventure sports and has the world's largest indoor ice climbing wall nearby. Although close to a wide range of activities, Lochaber Cottage itself is situated in a small cluster of cottages in a beautiful location that feels genuinely remote. Lochaber Cottage is situated within Glen Roy, close to the famous geological Parallel Roads, which are part of the Glen Roy national nature reserve. Sit on the cottage terrace and watch the sun go down over the mountains or step outside the gate to walk or cycle along the well-maintained track for miles into the hills. The nearby village of Roy Bridge provides a shop, cafe, pub and restaurant and is a pleasant walk away along a quiet road. Wifi is included but occasional rural connection problems so please do not rely on wifi to do work etc.
