The SpaceOur house has been built to our specifications, and is open plan. We have one guest double room, and one small single for occasional use. People comment on it being modern, but with a traditional feel. We have open views all around, but are not cut off from civilisation. Guest AccessYou will have your own double bedroom with king size bed, and spacious bathroom (with shower, no bath). Share our kitchen. We have good and reasonably priced eating places nearby. Breakfast foods (cereals and continental) available. Room for car parking, secure space for bikes. Our house has been built to include access for disabled guests, who will receive a warm welcome. We will be around for any advice, directions etc. We hope you like pets - a young cat, and a very enthusiastic but well behaved Jack Russell... and now, three black rock chickens! The NeighborhoodThe Black Isle is unique - not an island, though! Lovely clean beach 3 miles away, and dolphins in the Firth. The Moray Firth is renowned for good weather - we rarely catch the worst of it. Plenty of walking available, and even in high summer, you can always find peace and quiet. You will find several popular cafes and restaurants nearby in Avoch and Fortrose. We visited, fell in love with Scotland , and built our own house 2 years ago - and have never regretted it! Getting AroundCAR ESSENTIAL - buses to Inverness (11 miles away) only run from Fortrose or Avoch (3 miles away). Further afield, we are only 60 miles from the stunning west coast. Tigh-na-Mara is a very lovely period home ideal for large family or group-get-together holidays by the sea. Recently renovated to the highest standards the house boasts 6 bedrooms (5 double, 1 twin) all with ensuite/private bathroom facilities. The wonderfully equiped kitchen leads directly into large dining room with wood burning stove and views of the sea - perfect at any time of year! The house sits right on the beach at the sea front of the traditional Black Isle village of Rosemarkie. From the lounge, dining room/kitchen and two front bedrooms you can look straight out over the Moray Firth. Walk to your right as you step out of the front door and Chanonry Point, one of the best places in Europe to see Bottlenose Dolphins from the land, is a just a half hour stroll away, along the wide sandy beach. It's not uncommon to see the dolphins swimming past the window as you sit down to eat, otters playing in the rocky coves nearby and red kites soaring overhead. You'll be forgiven for not wanting to go home again at the end of your holiday! We recommend weekly (or longer) rentals but if you'd like to visit us for a short break this may be possible too, depending on availability. A stream of lovely small villages lie along the waters edge as you progress over the Kessock Bridge and wind your way along the coast towards Rosemarkie. Rosemarkie itself is a small village on the south eastern coast of the Black Isle, about 20 minutes drive from Inverness. The village has everything you could hope for with two pubs, newsagents and a wonderful delicatessen. With it's beautiful bay, rocky coves and ports, and amenities for the whole family,Tigh-na-Mara really is the ideal base for your holiday. We love living on the Black Isle and we really believe it is the perfect holiday destination. Our very favourite ways to wile away the day range from the simple pleasures of exploring the beach on your doorstep to playing a round of golf on one of the many excellent courses nearby, exploring ancient castles and historic sites, wildlife watching, coastal walks or bagging munros... the list goes on and on. The Black Isle is also the perfect jumping off point for adventures further into the wilds of the highlands. Gairloch and Ullapool are just over an hours drive West, or John o'Groats and Durness lie 3-4 hours North.

There is a little table and chairs outside to take advantage of a fine morning. Downstairs is open plan. There is a table and chairs on the patio in the courtyard facing south also. Upstairs there is a large double room facing east with en suite mira shower over bath and a twin room looking over the countryside to the north with large mira en suite shower room. The furniture is solid pine. All rooms overlook the surrounding countryside. Burn Farm Cottages are situated within an old barn conversion only 15 minutes north of the metropolitan city of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. They provide a top quality base for exploration and relaxation. We have three pretty, warm and spacious cottages with all mod cons ~ nestling around a sunny courtyard in our pretty gardens. Each has its own patio where you can sit out and enjoy the fresh highland air. We are surrounded by peaceful, rich and gently rolling countryside within minutes of all amenities ~ including Inverness. The Thompsons live on site also and there is plenty of parking for all. Go and feed the reindeer up the Cairngorm mountains or ski there in the winter months. The East specialises in whisky distilleries, lovely beaches and antique shops. Culloden Battlefield, Cawdor and Brodie Castles. The North has wonderful open scenery and many castles such as Dunrobin Castle 20 minutes north of the village of Dornoch (of Madonna's wedding) and Castle of Mey on the far north coast. The far north gives access to the fascinating islands of Orkney from Scrabster and John O'Groats. Dornoch (40 minutes north on the A9) is a very interesting village for a day trip and has its own famous Cathedral and Castle in the village as well as many places to shop and eat. Take a walk on the long white beach. Owners Colin and Ros Thompson and their sons Simon and Philip also have Dornoch Castle, a 15th C Castle Hotel in the middle of Dornoch opposite the famous Cathedral.                 "Tanera More", Avoch, Black Isle, is a beautiful historic listed fisherman's cottage in a conservation area, ideally situated on the shore of the Moray Firth. Recently refurbished within, it is the perfect highland getaway. Fabulous choice for nature lovers, out door enthusiasts, families, friends. Dolphin watching boat trips run daily from the harbor. The Highlands and Islands of Scotland are probably the most stunning and varied landscape of the British Isles! Life runs at a more relaxed pace as towns and villages spread out and traffic slows to a sensible, sheep friendly speed on the exposed roads through the glens. Wild life is close to hand and deer need special attention from the driver as they suddenly appear on the roads, as do pheasants who once on the road seem to find it very difficult to decide which way they plan to go and often just run ahead of the car this way and that uncertain of a safe exit!! Red Kites, Buzzards, Rabbits, Badgers, Pine Martins, Grouse, Ducks, Osprey, Eagles, Red Squirrels, Ptarmigans, Otters, Puffins, and many other mammals and sea birds live here or make it their seasonal home. The east coast enjoys a sheltered position and agriculture is primary to local communities. Inverness our Highland capital is a transport hub and cultural hot spot. Eden Court Theatre has an exciting program of classical and popular concerts, musicals shows, theater, opera, two cinemas showing a varied selection of films a popular cafe and restaurant. The lovely Town House also provides a venue for chamber music. Boat trips down the canal to Loch Ness are always in search of the legendary monster and there are plenty of local distilleries to visit for a taste of "the good stuff" Summer visitors enjoy the many castles that open their grounds to the public and winter attracts skiers to the Cairngorms. The ancient mountains are accessible all year round but the long summer days make a day out last so much longer!! A visit to the highlands can not be complete without a visit to the Isle Skye and now there is a bridge no one need wait for a boat to take them "over the sea to Skye" Tanera More sits on a quite street in front of the sea. The village of Avoch built around the harbour has; a post office, general store & three takeaway's to suit all tastes. The cottage has off road parking space to the side & seating area on the grassy shore. Large garden to the rear is somewhat wild and perfect for adventurous children.

                The SpaceThis is a very desirable traditional B&B located on a hillside in the lovely coastal picturesque fishing village of Avoch on the Black Isle, Scottish Highlands. The locations has spectacular sea views overlooking the Moray Firth and surrounding mountainous areas, and boosts the historical Ormond Hill within its sights (Ormond Castle - once an important medieval stronghold but later completely destroyed by Oliver Cromwell.                 The SpaceTanera More comprises 2 bedrooms upstairs, one double bed and twin beds. The cottage sleeps a maximum of 4 people. Original fireplaces are a feature but are purely ornamental now. No open fires are permitted throughout. Down stairs the sitting room seats 4 comfortably with large TV/DVD. The bathroom has a low door under the stairs and looks out into the back garden, complete with electric shower there is always instant hot water! The kitchen diner occupies the rest of the ground floor and provides access to the back garden and patio. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, cooker, ovens, microwave, washing machine etc. The garden to the rear has yet to be tamed, and evolves into a wild area at the farthest end! Children need to be supervised! From the front door there is a small road, a strip of grass and then the sea! Parking is to the side of the cottage. A very short walk from Number 8 – Avoch takes you into the village centre where you can find a convenience store, cash point, hairdresser, post office & general store (selling your post cards, logs and warm socks etc). If you don’t feel like cooking at home the village boasts an Indian, Chinese and Fish & chip take away. The village is on the regular bus route to Inverness. Turning left from Number 8-Avoch takes you to the picturesque shore front where you can visit the harbour, book your dolphin watch boat trip, or enjoy a sundowner on the sea wall whilst watching the sun set. The property looks out over the small harbour built by Thomas Telford in 1814, and would have been one of the original buildings used to store the various nets required for the large fishing fleet that operated from the village in the 1800's. This unique property is ideally situated on the Moray Firth, and offers an ideal location for touring this beautiful and unspoilt area. Dolphins and seals are regularly spotted along the coast and boat trips are available in the vicinity including Dolphin Trips Avoch which is located across the road from the property. If you are lucky when sitting in the living room you may see the dolphins passing the harbour mouth, all from the comfort of your armchair. Often also seen in the harbour are otters, swans, ducks, heron and curlew, whilst overhead are gulls, gannets and osprey.... all that without even leaving the house. The property enjoys a spacious layout, entering from the front, takes you directly into the large dining kitchen, this room is equipped with all the usual equipment, and offers views across to the harbour. Off this room the twin bedroom, complete with an en-suite shower room is located. To the rear of the property, a stairs leads to the large bright and airy lounge on the first floor. This room almost runs the length of the property and has been furnished with an eclectic mix of modern and more traditional pieces of furniture. Views can be enjoyed across the pretty harbour below and beyond to the Moray-Firth. Completing the facilities on this level is the master bedroom which has an outside veranda area, a separate bathroom, and a small bunk area suitable for a child.                         In the peaceful countryside of the Black Isle lies this beautiful barn conversion, Reyflat Barn, a newly renovated build which has been finished to a high standard with lovely finishes.. Wondering through to the well equiped kitchen instantly gives a family friendly, relaxed feeling as light floods through the french doors which look out onto a patio area and delightful views. Also situated on the ground floor lies a large room containing 2 single beds which look out of a feature window. Next door is a freshly painted family bathroom, containing a bath with over head shower. Upstairs lies a second bedroom containing a kingsize bed and matching wooden furniture. Walking through to the heart of the cottage, features the attractive living space. With comfy leather sofas, 40 inch flat screen tv and plenty of books and dvds to use at your leisure your attention will be grasped by the breath taking views which can be seen from the full length windows but even better from the beautiful balcony. From the outdoor seating areas both red kites and buzzards can be regularly spotted.

                          Tigh-na-Mara is a very lovely period home ideal for large family or group-get-together holidays by the sea. Recently renovated to the highest standards the house boasts 6 bedrooms (5 double, 1 twin) all with ensuite/private bathroom facilities. The wonderfully equiped kitchen leads directly into large dining room with wood burning stove and views of the sea - perfect at any time of year! The house sits right on the beach at the sea front of the traditional Black Isle village of Rosemarkie. From the lounge, dining room/kitchen and two front bedrooms you can look straight out over the Moray Firth. Walk to your right as you step out of the front door and Chanonry Point, one of the best places in Europe to see Bottlenose Dolphins from the land, is a just a half hour stroll away, along the wide sandy beach. It's not uncommon to see the dolphins swimming past the window as you sit down to eat, otters playing in the rocky coves nearby and red kites soaring overhead. You'll be forgiven for not wanting to go home again at the end of your holiday! We recommend weekly (or longer) rentals but if you'd like to visit us for a short break this may be possible too, depending on availability. Beautiful walks on the Black Isle straight out of the door of the cottage. Regular bus service to Inverness and Dingwall. This Victorian fisherman's cottage located in a conservation area never the less enjoys the benefits of modern comforts including oil fired central heating together with double glazing throughout.                                           Fortrose lies between the villages of Avoch and Rosemarkie on the southern coast of the Black Isle. Clisham is situated in the elevated quiet residential area of Feddon Hill in Fortrose affording guests spectacular views over Chanonry Point, the Moray Firth and Fort George and Inverness-shire to the south. There are restaurants, bars, shops, cafes, a gym and leisure centre in Fortrose and the local area and an 18 hole golf course on the peninsula with Chanonry point at its tip, where the famous Moray Firth Dolphins can regularly be seen playing and feeding. Travelling to Clisham by car is recommended for those that wish to explore the many towns and villages of the Black Isle however there is a regular bus service that travels through to Dingwall and Inverness. Clisham is an excellent base for exploring the wider Highlands with inverness just 25 minutes’ drive, the Cairngorm National Park or the West Coast around an hour away.                                             Avoch is located on the Black Isle, approximately 20 minutes North East of Inverness on the Inner Moray Firth. Number 8 – Avoch is situated in the old Fisher town where the close packed streets are a reminder of the days when the fishing boats were hauled into the street to protect them during bad weather. A very short walk from Number 8 – Avoch takes you into the village centre where you can find a convenience store, cash point, hairdresser, post office & general store (selling your post cards, logs and warm socks etc). If you don’t feel like cooking at home the village boasts an Indian, Chinese and Fish & chip take away. The village is on the regular bus route to Inverness. Turning left from Number 8-Avoch takes you to the picturesque shore front where you can visit the harbour, book your dolphin watch boat trip, or enjoy a sundowner on the sea wall whilst watching the sun set. A walk or cycle along the old railway line to Fortrose provides an opportunity for some fresh air, spotting the views, visiting the Brahan Seer stone and occasional berry picking. On your arrival in Fortrose you can quench your thirst, or enjoy a nice lunch before a walk around the Cathedral and Harbour. Chanonry Point is a recognised view point where you can spend a few hours watching the dolphins. Just a few miles further along you come to the village of Rosemarkie, sporting an amazing sandy beach where you may be lucky to find a fossil or two. The long sandy beach is ideal for stretching your legs or rock pooling. If you just want to enjoy the view and an ice cream or coffee the Beach Café will oblige. Learnie Red Rock, around a 10 minute drive from Number 8-Avoch, offers graded mountain bike tracks, dirt bike jumping and walks. Visit their website for information of bike rentals. Not far away is Fairy Glen where you can walk alongside the waterfalls – you may be lucky enough to spot a Red Kite, squirrels or deer. Both Cromarty and Fortrose offer active Sailing Clubs where you can try your hand at dinghy or keel boat sailing. Golf, links bowling and tennis are also available with easy reach of Number 8 –Avoch. Cromarty offers great walks and during summer months you can catch the car ferry across to Nigg and venture further north to visit Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain. Cromarty has very popular venues for meeting friends, enjoying a meal or a coffee and admiring the art and handcrafts. Leaving Avoch and heading back towards Inverness gives you access via the A9 to the wider Highland tourist sites such as Loch Ness, Skye, Nairn, and the North.                                               Situated in the centre of Rosemarkie, Holmes Cottage is an extended traditional 1860s cottage with off- road parking and a long sheltered garden towards the sea. The comfortable and well equipped cottage is just a few minutes’ walk from the lovely Rosemarkie beach, which extends south west towards Chanonry Point - a great place for watching dolphins. Holmes Cottage is perfect for a relaxing holiday in the Highlands, and an ideal base for exploring the Black Isle and touring further afield. In Rosemarkie there is a convenience shop, a butchers with delicatessen, a local pub and a pleasant bistro on the sea-front. A wider range of shops can be found in Fortrose, only a mile away. Inverness, with its shopping centres, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, bars, cinema and theatre, is about 14 miles away. Golfers can play at the nearby Fortrose and Rosemarkie links course, as well as many other courses in the area, whilst bird watchers can enjoy the wildlife at Udale Bay. There are pleasant walks to the Fairy Glen waterfall, along the coast and in the countryside. Pony trekking and mountain biking are also available in the locality.                                                 Rowan cottage is situated in the quaint seaside village of Rosemarkie less than a 2 minute walk from a long sandy beach. Chanonry Point, at the far end of the beach, is a well known spot for dolphin watching. The property has been fitted to a high standard with many thoughtful extras included. The modern bright kitchen has a conservatory area which looks out onto the colourful cottage garden and double doors lead onto a small decked area - a morning suntrap - perfect for lazy breakfasts on sunny mornings. Off the kitchen is the spacious sitting room, with unusual whitewashed wood-lined walls. The separate lounge has a stripped wooden floor and original slate marble fireplace. There are two bedrooms with sea views, one double, one twin, with comfortable beds and high quality bedlinen. The bathroom upstairs has a corner bath and there is a shower room downstairs. Complimentary toiletries and cotton towels are supplied. The garden to the rear of the property is not overlooked and has two seating areas to catch the morning and evening sun and an ornamental pond with water lillies. Secure storage is available for bicycles and other outdoor equipment. This cottage is in a great location for the beach and outdoor activities but is also central for exploring the Northern Highlands of Scotland.

Fabulous views, wood burning stove, tv with freeview and lots of books. Also upstairs is the master bedroom, a bathroom and a dressing area which can be used for a child's bed or a cot. On the ground floor there is a great large kitchen with range style cooker, table and 6 chairs and futher seating area Guest AccessThe house is all yours, I have a small adjacent apartment, which is accessed through it's own door. I am however seldom around as I work away and am off adventuring at weekends. Interaction with GuestsWhilst I am seldom around I am always at the end of the phone or on email. I have a great knowledge of the area and of much of Northern Scotland. I am happy to help you plan days out, tell you where to get the best afternoon teas and when to go for pictures of the dolphins... Just ask, if I don't know, I will know someone who does. The NeighborhoodThe Old Net Store is located in the pretty coastal village of Avoch on the south side of the Black Isle. The property looks out over the small harbour built by Thomas Telford in 1814, and would have been one of the original buildings used to store the various nets required for the large fishing fleet that operated from the village in the 1800's. This unique property is ideally situated on the Moray Firth, and offers an ideal location for touring this beautiful and unspoilt area. Dolphins and seals are regularly spotted along the coast and boat trips are available in the vicinity including Dolphin Trips Avoch which is located across the road from the property. If you are lucky when sitting in the living room you may see the dolphins passing the harbour mouth, all from the comfort of your armchair. Often also seen in the harbour are otters, swans, ducks, heron and curlew, whilst overhead are gulls, gannets and osprey.... all that without even leaving the house. Getting AroundBus stop is opposite the house at the harbour, and returning stops just about 100m away Other Things to NotePlease note that there is a road outside of the property, this has a 20 speed limit but children should be supervised at all times.

                                                The SpaceThe Boathouse is a cantilevered, two storey, oak framed building with a half timber gable and pink Rosemary roof tiles. It is furnished and equipped to provide a charming holiday retreat. A steep spiral staircase gives access to the upper floor. The lounge boasts an original fireplace (a feature only) and hearth tiles, which are now over 100 years old. A door from the lounge, gives access onto the high level balcony which runs along the front and down the side of the lounge area. A satellite TV with DVD player is installed in the lounge. The new wing downstairs is an open plan dining and kitchen room. Cutlery, crockery and glassware is provided and the kitchen equipment includes a fridge, freezer, microwave oven, oven and hob, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, washing-dryer and pay phone. A second door from the lounge gives access to the master bedroom, with king sized bed. The en-suite bathroom has a bath, separate shower cubicle, hand basin and WC. The bedroom has a door leading onto the balcony, and a casement window with deep sill looking out over the lake to the Douglas pines beyond the dam wall. Town: The pretty coastal village of Avoch overlooks Avoch Bay and is situated on the south side of the area, known as The Black Isle, in the magical Scottish Highlands. Once a busy fishing village, today it is home to many pleasure crafts and this give the village a relaxed holiday atmosphere. The narrow streets, with their pretty stone cottages, run at right angles to the shore, with excellent local facilities including shops, pubs and hotels. Excellent scenery, wildlife and sea life abounds in this area. Additional amenities include: cooker.

                                                The SpaceThis is a standalone flat, with living space, bedroom and private bathroom. Comes with own garden and patio. We offer secure bike storage for those on two wheels. Guest AccessYou will have access from driveway and own front key. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as you would like. This is our home and we're around but with your own space it is up to you. Getting AroundWe're probably not best for public transport, but 3 minutes from the A9, a great touring base for the Highlands. Also a great stop on "LeJoG" Lands End to John O Groats, or NC500. If traveling by bike we can pick you up at Tore and drop you off the next morning. Other Things to NoteThe studio has a fridge, kettle and toaster. Coffee, tea, milk and sugar supplied. We know the Highlands and have travelled all over, so can share some tips of place to visits and must dos.
