BEAT THE BLUES WITH OUR OFF PEAK BREAKS! Bank House offers places to snuggle up, entertain the kids and beat the winter blues this Spring time. Want to squeeze fresh juice, no problem, juice squeezer to hand, want to wake to leisurely breakfasts from comfortable beds with electric blankets and snuggly duvets? ... ...Bank House is a family bolt-hole where kinfolk and friends gather for some real quality time. Bank House is well suited to all the family’s needs with bags of character in every room, and a wee nip of the warm stuff for the adults, in fact we say that Whisky is sunlight held together by water! Sip it from a crystal tumbler in the cosy snug on a squishy sofa whilst reading a good book from the library. Enjoy the peace and quiet or…sit on the floor with the kids and a whole host of toys. For the big kids, there is a poker table and roulette wheel with chips for an instant casino feel, don’t forget to dress for dinner! In fact, we can organize a “murder mystery” dinner party for you with clues, characters, dress ideas and menus sent by email before hand. A video will be there on your arrival with all the instructions you will need to bring out the Miss Marple in everyone. (additional charge applies) Entertain each other in grand style around the banquet table with crystal decanters and silver platters, dine like Kings, even if one dines on a delivery from one of the many eateries in the village! Life is too short for spending in the kitchen but if this is your idea of a great break you will find a kitchen equipped to produce even a birthday cake if you so wish. Roast a Hare or poach a whole salmon in the fish kettle, it is all there for you to enjoy. The elegant drawing room is perfect for after dinner chatter and bedtime stories. And then to bed… close the shutters to the world outside and sink into comfy beds with electric blankets, throws, and crisp white bed linen. Don’t forget to pack the hiking boots or stout walking brogues, fill the picnic hamper provided with yummy lunch and a hot flask of coffee and set off up the Lomond Hills to blow away the cobwebs. Catch your breath as the coastline opens up to you from atop the West Lomond, accessible by even the most sedate amongst us. See right across to Edinburgh on a clear day. Scan the horizon for the large ocean going liners as they drift out to sea and taste the fresh Scottish air as your mouth drops open in wonder at the beauty in our land. Walk in the footsteps of kings and knights around Falkland Palace, and tread the paths of our Stone Age and Roman ancestors. Run over the same hills Rob Roy and his men covered as they ransacked the countryside in search of food and shelter. Discover where the villagers turned back Rob Roy and his band of men who sought to pillage and plunder the village of Leslie once their supplies ran out having sacked Falkland Palace. They were brave people indeed, and none as brave as the Countess of Rothes who took command of lifeboat 8 upon the sinking of the Titanic. Visit what remains of her family home, Leslie House, or pay respect at the tomb of her husband, the Earl of Rothes. Both in the village. If the hills are not to your taste, pile in the car and drive the 30 minutes it will take to get to Tentsmuir beach where a whole day feels like it has flown by in ten minutes. Neither the wind nor the rain will dampen the pleasure of the miles and miles of sand and dunes. It is perhaps the undulating coastline of vast sandy beaches, sparkling waters and dramatic views that marks The Kingdom of Fife out as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The beaches here are breathtaking whatever the season, so get ready to feel the sand between your toes or walk for miles along the Fife Coastal path. BEAT THE BLUES WITH OUR OFF PEAK BREAKS! Bank House offers places to snuggle up, entertain the kids and beat the winter blues this Spring time. Want to bake bread on holiday? no problem, bread maker to hand. Listen to the Skylarks singing as they soar above their nests. Let the kids run free and wild and leave Granny to take the videos and snapshots. Perhaps you are a family of golfers!...we are talking Fife here!...enough said! Why not join us and create your own holiday adventure? What ar eyou waiting for? we are selling out fast! Come see us soon. Jayne

The SpaceTHIS HOUSE IS AVAILABLE FOR 2 WEEKS MID OCTOBER. This is one, 2 week let or two, 1 week lets (1 week being a minimum of 6 nights). We are also planning to make it available for CHRISTMAS 2016 - so watch this space!!! Greenside Retreat is a beautiful, 6 bedroom, Georgian House set within an acre of spacious gardens. Communal Space This house and garden offers plenty of space for you to really relax and chill out. There are 3 lovely, bright, south-facing reception rooms. Downstairs is a large, relaxing and comfortable sitting room with plenty seating, a well-stocked library, TV and a log fire. Also downstairs is the family room/playroom with DVD library (for kids and grown-ups). There is also an office upstairs with desk space for anybody who may need quiet space to work. The other reception room, also upstairs, is a light and spacious meditation and yoga room. There are plenty meditation cushions but if you do yoga please bring your own yoga mat. Greenside Retreat not only functions as our family home (we are 3) but is a meditation retreat centre. (For those interested there are plenty of books on meditation and spiritual philosophy in the sitting room. ) Not only is this a great room for relaxing in but it is also a superb space in which to brainstorm and be creative. The kitchen has a large, 5 ring, 2 oven, range cooker so is ideal for cooking for large groups. There are 2 fridges, and a dishwasher. There is a dining space adjacent to the kitchen and there is also access to the patio dining area. Bedrooms/bathrooms: We have a selection of comfortable double and family bedrooms with ample storage space. One dorm room (3 single beds) is en-suite with an electric shower. There is a further large, family bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. We also have a cloakroom/toilet downstairs. The Garden (because sometimes the sun does shine in Scotland!) The sheltered front gardens have a south-facing aspect and are a natural sun-trap, especially the pretty herb garden and patio. The large, walled and gated garden is safe for children - there are big lawns to run around on (grown ups too!), a trampoline (and grown ups!!) and an outdoor children's ‘playhouse‘. In the more ‘rustic', wooded back garden we have a drying green and a firepit. (There is plenty of firewood over the wall in the woods). Location and local Amenities: Greenside Retreat is situated in the conservation area of Leslie, next to the village green. We are right beside a lovely woodland and river walk through the Glen to Riverside park where there is a children's play-park (15 mins). We have excellent internet access - both 'BT Infinity' broadband and 4G. Guest AccessNo access to unused storage room at back of house, storage cupboard in sitting room or outhouses. Interaction with GuestsIf we are away, a family friend and key-holder will be left in charge and arrangements can easily be made. If we are away we will leave detailed instructions in the house and make sure we are contactable. If we are away, the local key holder will be available for emergencies/problems. The NeighborhoodWe are big nature lovers and there are many walks from the house, down the Glen and in the woods into Riverside park. A short drive away is Fortmonthills community woodland which offers great views. We are also situated right on the edge of the Lomond Hills, making it ideal for hiking there. Take the hill road with its superb views from the Lomonds to picturesque Falkland (4 miles) with its Royal Palace, the famous Pillars Organic farm cafe and beautiful woodland walks. We find Leslie to be an excellent central base from which to explore Fife, Perth and Kinross and Edinburgh (only 30 miles away). Loch Leven with its bird and nature reserves is only a few miles to the West of us. Our 5 year old daughter loves bird spotting at Vane farm RSPB site. Fife is blessed with some wonderful, open sandy beaches and picturesque 'East Neuk fishing villages to explore and, or course, there is the ancient university and golfing town of St Andrews, about 30 minutes away by car. Pubs and Restaurants: The Fettykil Fox Eatery and Bistro is 10mins walk away. Highly recommended by us and a short drive away (Falkland - 4 miles), is Pillars of Hercules Organic Farm shop and cafe. Anstruther's award-winning fish and chip shop is a favorite of ours. Loch Leven's Larder has a great reputation too and beautiful views of loch Leven. There are plenty fast food outlets in nearby Glenrothes and Leslie... Thornton's Toby's Chip shop is a traditional 'sit-in' and another family favourite (we love Fish and Chips!) Getting AroundThere is off-street parking for 3 (4 at a squeeze) cars behind our house. Ample free parking in the car park on the village green next to the property. Being close to Glenrothes we are excellently served by public transport. There are ample local buses into Glenrothes bus station.
