    The SpaceThe Cottage sleeps 6 people in two bedrooms TOWELS & LINEN ON REQUEST (one double room and one twin bed room), both with ample storage. The sofa bed sleeps 2 people and is located in the snug on the ground floor. There is a welcoming entrance hallway and the cosy living room has two large sofas and armchairs. It has a beautiful period open log fire and south facing bay window. It has plenty of board games, books, free unlimited WIFI and Freeview TV to keep you entertained. The kitchen and dining/breakfast area is spacious and well equipped. This is an ideal area for family dinners or entertaining. Leading off from the kitchen you will find the snug (with sofa bed) and conservatory. The family bathroom is bright with a constant supply of hot water and has a bath with shower overhead, hand basin and toilet. In addition, there is a cloakroom on the ground floor. The garden is open and spacious interspersed with various fruit trees. To one side the barbeque area overlooks the garden and enjoys stunning views across to Melrose and the Eildon Hills. Walkers will be pleased to hear that they are within half a mile of the Southern Upland Way, while St Cuthbert's Way actually starts in Melrose and ends in Lindisfarne. Fishermen have the Tweed within a stone's throw as well as many well-stocked lochs in the vicinity. The 9-hole golf course in Melrose is laid out on the side of the Eildon Hills and is one of many excellent courses in this area. Melrose also has tennis courts in the park and there is riding 4 miles away at Cowdenknowes. Here, too, you are in the middle of rugby country and the Greenyards pitch in Melrose is home to the rugby Sevens game. Gattonside has two highly regarded restaurants - Seasons and The Hoebridge, both just a short walk away. You will find an excellent range of amenities in Melrose - a five minute drive or a 15 minute walk - including a super selection of quality food shops, some of the best independent shopping in the Borders, and a number of wonderful eating establishments.

                    Bow Cottage is situated in the picturesque town of Melrose in the central Scottish Borders and is ideally located to enjoy the many attractions that the town has to offer.This pretty two bedroom cottage is situated a stones throw from the town centre and all the local shops, restaurants and cafe. Yet within a five minutes of the cottage you can be walking by the glorious River Tweed or up the beautiful Eildon hills, or fishing and golfing to your hearts content. The cottage consists of two bed rooms which can be either kingsize or twin bedded rooms, lounge/dining room, kitchen and bathroom, and an additional toilet upstairs. There is also a small paved outside area with a table and chairs for sitting and watching the world go by. On street parking available within 50 yards of the cottage. Free WiFi available. The beautiful and hisoric town of Melrose has much to offer visitors. The beautiful Abbey located in the town centre where the heart of Robert the Bruce is buried is lovely by day or by night when it is lighten up. The beautiful ornamental gardens at Harmony House are well worth a look, and this also the site of the Borders Book Festival in June, which attracts many literary big names. The Greenyards is of course also the home of the very first rugby sevens in 1883 and the annual event in April draws international teams and crowds. But apart from the history, sporting and literary events, Melrose also abounds with restaurants, cafes, delicatessens and an eclectic mix of shops, from antiques, gifts and clothes, it is a delight to explore.

Gattonside is a 10 minute walk via the wonderful Victorian pedestrian suspension bridge which spans the River Tweed to the popular town of Melrose on the south side of the river. It is an ideal spot from which to explore the Scottish Borders, take part in the many activities available in the area such as hill walking, cycling, fishing, shooting and golf, or simply to relax and get away from it all. The ancient and historic town of Melrose, of which Gattonside is part, sits on the banks of the Tweed and makes a great base for any holiday in the Scottish Borders. The Borders Railway runs from Tweedbank to Edinburgh and stations in between. Tweedbank station is about five miles from St Boswells and has bus links.                             This beautifully located cottage is surprisingly spacious, and sleep up to 4 people very comfortably With a lovely big kitchen/dinner enjoying a relaxed atmosphere. The sitting room is perfect with a flat screen tv with freeview and dvd player. Perfect for families, couples and fishermen. The kitchen leads out onto a patio which is a haven for eating and relaxing on summer days and nights. This is a home away from home in the heart of the Scottish Borders.We are less than a mile from the famous Melrose Abbey and walking in from Newstead on the former Masons route makes it even more special. We are 2 minutes from the river Tweed where fishing is our passion and we cater for the fishers in all ways. I am a full time ghillie come casting instructor, offering a service second to none, from a days trout fishing to a full salmon fishing package with all equipment available for hire. There is nothing I cant sort out fishing wise with the best contacts on the river, we will do all we can to make your stay a very enjoyable , just get intouch Let us know your ideal holiday details and let me take the hassle out of it for you. Newstead has its own charm although it is only a short walk from Melrose, It is overlooked by the Eildon hills, the River Tweed runs alongside the village and it is surrounded by green fields. For less active days, there is a wealth of stately homes, ruined abbeys, historic castles and peel towers to visit - the nearest is probably Sir Walter Scott's home of Abbotsford, just four miles distant - as well as some lovely gardens nearby like Monteviot and Mertoun. We have a beautiful bespoke solid wood kitchen, with all amenities to cook a formal dinning experience or just simply create a lazy Sunday breakfast. Our bedroom is upstairs and accessed by a stunning restored staircase with coir treads and rope banisters ( although stunning may not be suitable for young children or guests with disabilities) The bedroom itself is in a boutique style with crisp white linen and treetop views of the hills beyond. Our home has been created for a romantic break for a couple in the Scottish Borders, it lies within 200yrds of the town centre but due to the courtyard and hills behind, it could be considered as much more rural. The NeighborhoodThe ready access of the town's amenities are right on the doorstep, and the scenery is wonderful. Be prepared to fall in love with the town, and enjoy the banter with the locals. Getting AroundThere is a good bus service throughout the Borders, and a train service to Edinburgh from Tweedbank on the outskirts of the town is now fully operational.
