The SpaceI believe in active relaxation that gives you a feeling of well being after an active day – while we also understand the luxury of just doing nothing, sitting by the river, reading a book, watching wildlife, or just dreaming. Guest AccessYou will have access to whole house - the basement with toilets and storage room, first floor with living room and kitchen, and upper floor with sleeping space. Interaction with GuestsI enjoy sharing information about Idrija and Slovenia - I can provide you some tips on how to spend time around the house (nice natural swimming spots for example), in Idrija (where to eat good local food and how to experience the area differently), and in Slovenia (alternative tours and sights). Usually I do this on the first day and if you want to know more, you can always ask for further tips and info.
With the help of my friends, I can also arrange customized tours and guides (geology, biology, industrial and cultural heritage, technology ...). The NeighborhoodIdrija (Italian and German: Idria) is a town in Western Slovenia. It is notable for its mercury mine with stores and infrastructure, as well as miners' living quarters, and a miners' theatre. Together with the Spanish mine in Almadén, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012. In 2011, Idrija was given the Alpine Town of the Year award. Getting AroundHouse is located 20 minutes drive from Idrija, unfortunately not with public transport. Parking is possible behind the house.
Our guests usually arrive with a car, however, the house can be reached with a mountain bike and in case you do not have a car, we would help you with renting bikes, rent-a-car, or delivering luggage. Other Things to NoteSince the house is under heritage protection, it was renovated accordingly and - from the outside - looks like it did in 1800.
Inside is newly-furnished according to 21st Century standards (ceramic hob cooker, refrigerator, hot water, central heating ...). Nevertheless, remote location and 200 years old architecture effects it - e.g. smaller windows, lower door-frames, no inner-staircases between basement and living room, a bit lower water pressure in pipes ... We have put special effort to reduce the impact of those things on your stay.
