The SpaceA typical Karst house with a touch of modernity is located in a small village Tomačevica - on the Karst plateau in the Littoral region of Slovenia (Primorska). It stands bettween Štanjel (which is also one of the most beautiful villages in Slovenia) and Komen. It is a great place to stay, cause you can have a peaceful vacations there on the one side and several opportunities to spend really active holidays on the other side. There are several cycling routes, 20 minutes and you are in Italy (Trieste or a cost of Sistiana) or in Lipica, 45 minutes and you are in Portorose or an hour and you are in Ljubljana. What is the most important is that you can enjoy also just standing in the house. You can swim in a swimming pool or play a volleyball in it, you can watch a television, surf on the internet or simply enjoy in jacuzzi. You can have a walk in the vineyards, in the season you can eat figs, apples, cherrys from the domestic garden and relax in the beautiful nature. There are several Tourist farms and Osmicas, where you can eat as many specialitetes as Karst is serving and drink the best Teran (vine) in the world. Where the Mediterranean part of Slovenia meets the mainland, where limestone and fysch meet face to face, the diversity of the landscape overwhelms us, the bora blows and the home cooking allures us to stay. Natural and cultural heritage invite travellers to visit the world-famous sights, as well as to explore the hidden spots. This and much more Karst is offering....Any questions you might have...don't hesitate to contact me and hope to have you staying in my place soon...I also speak English and German.

Bizeljsko-sremiška wine route runs through its hills . There are several friendly homes, inns, and wineries along the road which offer, beside wine, other homemade treats, produced at their own farms, stables, fruit orchards, drying rooms and smokehouses, etc. On the table, you can smell roasted chicken with pasta tatters, roasted pork, dried meat, poppy or buckwheat cake, cheese cake, etc. On the left bank of Sava, the people are making red and white “Bizeljčan” which carries the name PTP (recognized traditional denomination) since 2009, along with other great wines of Bizeljsko. The speciality of this wine road are so-called “repnice” - caves dug in flint sand which was brought to this area by the Pannonian Sea millions of years ago. Because of constant temperature at 8° C and permanent humidity at 95 %, they have been used in the past for storing crops, turnip among other which gave them their name (turnip=repa/repnice). Now they are used mostly for wine storage. Bizeljsko lies on a tectonic break and has plenty of thermal water springs which were discovered along the banks of Sava over 200 years ago. Terme Čatež is the largest spa complex in Slovenia at the moment and it represents the red lining of tourist development in the municipality. Visitors can have fun or relax in the summer spa Riviera which covers 10,000 m2, and in the winter thermal Riviera which offers 2,300 m2. The wellness center takes care of perfect rest and relaxation, various healing and rehabilitation programs are also available. On the north east of Bizeljsko there are Terme Olimia, WELLNESS ORHIDELIA is the new world of thermal pleasures where perfect pampering of your body enables you to experience an awakening of love. The sauna centre will warm up your body and soul. Wellness Orhidelia has officially been the best spa centre in Slovenia since 2009. WELLNESS CENTRE TERMALIJA boasts more that 2000 m2 of water surfaces and the world of original saunas in different colours. At the THERMAL PARK AQUALUNA you can fill your body with an adrenaline rush on the extreme slides, exciting line racers and spiral slides. This attractive summer water park boasts the title “Best pool complex 2012” in Slovenia in the Large thermal pool centres category. The inviting 3000 m2 of water surfaces and other amusement facilities guarantee a fun day out. It is especially attractive for families with children of all ages, who can meet life-size Safari animals or play in water amusement parks. Aquajungle 1 is particularly suitable for the youngest of visitors whereas the brand new Aquajungle 2 offers 550 m2 of water surfaces. Open from 1st of May until 30th of September. The countryside offers many options of active time-spending. You can go kayaking or canoeing on the Krka River, individually or in a group, or you can just spend the day on its banks where the beach with natural swimming area is available, along with volleyball and football fields, archery range, paintball, etc. Trekking and cycling enthusiasts can actively experience the diversity of the countryside and its culture with natural sights. With a bicycle, you can use many paved and unpaved roads, either in the spring when the trees are blossoming, or in the autumn when they are full of fruits. If this is still too little you may drive from Kobdilj on scenic back roads to the pre-Alps and ride up straight 1,000 meters (5h-6h return) or perhaps you would prefer to ride just to the nearest Adriatic beach at Sistiana mare (I ) (3 hours return). Pristine nature and a characteristic stone architecture with narrow old towns and paths lined with stone walls are the main features of the Karst. Famous are his wines, specially his dark red wine Teran (Terrano) and his old varieties of white wine like Malvazija (Malvasia) and Vitovska. A special feature is also the Karst ham dried in open air, the so-called Kraski prsut (Prosciutto), as also other types of dried meat. The Karst is the sunniest area in Slovenia during November through March with even more sunshine hours than in Portoroz (Adriatic coast). The annual sunshine duration is 2250 h, between 100 h in December and almost 300 h in July. GARDEN AND POOL: The entire garden of sub-Mediterranean plants extends on several sun terraces directly below the former estate of Max Fabiani (mulberry) in upper Kobdilj. The cultivated ornamental plants garden (5,000 m2) with over 100 different varieties of roses, oleanders and many other ornamental plants, features its rich trees (chestnuts, walnuts, laurels, palms, figs, cypress trees, olive trees). The mostly fenced ornamental garden is adjacent to another non-scale natural forest and natural grassland plot (17,000 m2). The garden offers numerous panoramic views on the sparsely populated Karst with its vineyards, dry meadows and mixed forests, as well as on the opposite hill with the medieval village Stanjel. Painting and photography in the garden are possible. The ornamental plants and also the art gallery have been introduced in several magazines and media in Slovenian and English language. In 2008 the first programme of the Slovene national television filmed a 20-minute programme about the garden and the art gallery which has been aired several times since. Our heated and roofed famliy swimming pool can be shared by guests from the midth of April to the midth of October daily from 9 a.m. till 7 p.m. (use at their own risk!) - no chlorine odour as it is run by saltwater, poolsize 8 m x 3.5 m, depth 1.6 m, roman stairs, pool roof made of polycarbonate. A dense and well-preserved local road network with little traffic invites you to explore the rich cultural landscape and nature by bike. Kobdilj is a good starting point for a variety of family-friendly routes, which run on the Karst plateau, with its gentle hills and only small differences in altitude. They are ideal for cyclists who want to explore the countryside at their own pace and without too much effort. For more sporting cyclists there are both shorter and longer round trips from Kobdilj to the hills at the northern Karst edge with stunning views on the Alps and the Adriatic with differences in height of 500 m (1h-4h return). If this is still too little you may drive from Kobdilj on scenic back roads to the pre-Alps and ride up straight 1,000 meters (5h-6h return) or perhaps you would prefer to ride just to the nearest Adriatic beach at Sistiana mare (I ) (3 hours return). For resident guests we rent bicycles with helmets for 5.00 EUR/day. Altogether there are available six trekking bikes with 21 gears (3 men's bikes, 2 ladie's bikes and 1 youngster bike).
