The SpaceOur 2 bedroom flat could be the best place for you and your family of 2 - 4 to stay! You will be 5 min drive away from a "Blue Flag" beach (this is a South African rating for the best clean beaches!), two rivers to explore. Swimming, hiking, dining - everything you want to do on holiday. Our town is close to a number of highly recommended game farms, so, if you cannot afford a long stay in a game farm, why not stay with us and book a day-game-drive to see Africa's "Big Five"! You are also close to some small historic towns dating back to the 1820 British Settlers, who brought valuable expertise to our country. Grahamstown, a city with the most beautiful churches and the annual "Grahamstown Arts Festival" (in July) is only 40 minutes drive from our home. Kenton on Sea is a small town, but with enough shops to satisfy your needs - from two butcheries, a chemist, a large grocery store and many small gift shops. Enjoy snacks and meals in our many small restaurants (one is a floating restaurant on the Bushmans River) and coffee shops. There are quite a number of shorter and longer hiking trails for those who love walking - some along the beach, and some in the mountains. If you like horse riding - on the beach - it can be arranged! Do you love art? We have a number of local artists in and around our town, their art work displayed in various galleries and shops. Do you like fishing? This can be done from the shores of the two rivers or the sea. (Bring your own fishing gear, of buy from one of our shops.) Guest AccessYou have private access to the flat. We live in the top story of the house. On arrival you will receive the key to the flat, feel free to come and go as you please. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available if you need us! Otherwise you are welcome to come and go as you like. We will give you information about the surrounding attractions and activities. If you book the flat while we are on holiday, we will make sure that you have access to the flat. We will provide a small "Starter Pack" of groceries, so that you do not have to rush to a shop when you arrive. (The content will be given once you have booked.) If you want to have a barbecue with us, we would love to arrange for such an evening - a true South African "Braai". The NeighborhoodWe live in a neigbourhood called Merry Hill, part of the small town of Kenton on Sea. The neighbourhood is protected with an electric fence and although access is not restricted, there is a 24 hour guard at the entrance of the neigbourhood. Although crime in South Africa may be high, our neighbourhood boasts with a near-to-zero incidence for the past few years. Kenton on Sea has a large supermarket, and a variety of small and larger shops. We love the peace and quiet atmosphere during most of the year, and when holiday makers join us during long week-ends and holidays, we love sharing our town with them! Getting AroundYou will need your own transport, as no public transport is available. Our nearest airport is Port Elizabeth (PE), where you can hire a car. PE is an hour and 40 minute drive from our house. Other Things to NoteIf you need to do some washing, we can arrange that you use our washing machine, although there is a laundry in town. If you stay for longer than a week, and need a domestic worker to clean the flat, we can arrange with our own domestic worker to do that at a reasonable rate.

The SpaceThe Sea House at Cannon Rocks is and award winning piece of architecture on the primary dune at the top end of the Woody Cape Nature Reserve in the Eastern Cape. The main house has 2 bedrooms (1 x queen and 2 singles) and 2 bathrooms and a loft with a sleeper couch and 2 single beds. The open plan kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher, bred maker, juice extractor, kenwood chef etc and is equipped to cater for large crowds. The 12 seater dining room and lounge open onto a deck with another 12 seater table overlooking the beach. There is a "cottage" with 2 single beds and and en suite bathroom and "crib" with en suite shower/loo and a double futon When full the house can sleep 10 but is best sleeping 8. The house has a good library of books, TV with DVD player, board games, puzzles and artists easel. The shed contains bicycles, boogie boards, loungers, fishing equipment, power kites, sand boards, snorkelling equipment and buckets and spades. Guest AccessThe house is built on the primary dune making beach the front garden. Interaction with GuestsWe live in Johannesburg but have a housekeeping service in Cannon Rocks who ensure guests' stay at The Sea House is easy and stress free. The NeighborhoodCannon Rocks is recognised as one of the best surf fishing areas along the coast and as one of the best kite boarding places in the world. The local caravan park has a small cafe for very basic shopping Cannon Rocks is 10 minutes from Kenton on Sea which has many shops and restaurants and 20 minutes drive from Port Alfred. The Alexandria Forest with it's many varied hiking trails is a 15 minute drive. The Addo Elephant is a 1 hour drive away. (URL HIDDEN) Getting AroundCannon Rocks is 90 minutes from the Port Elizabeth Airport and about 2 hours from East London. There is no public transport so one's own vehicle is essential. There are a couple of old but functional mountain bikes at the house which are useful for getting around the village.

The SpaceThis well-loved, young holiday home is the ideal place to enjoy fabulous seaside family holidays. The clever architectural design comprises a double-volume, open-plan lounge, dining-room and farm-style kitchen connected by wooden decks to the bedroom units; upstairs main en-suite bedroom (bath) with lovely views over the garden, downstairs a big double room and separate bathroom (shower) and on the opposite side, another twin bedroom. All the buildings look inward to a pretty, green garden and shady trees. The perfect place to unwind and relax and hardly ever need to use your car as you can easily walk to the Kariega river, slipway and beaches. The SpaceOur 3 bedroom home is a home away from home. It is fully walled with plenty of space for the kids to run around. There is an indoor braai area as well as an outdoor undercover braai area. Minimum stay of 7 days is required over December/January. We are unfortunately not in the area, but do have someone available to assist with queries. The neighbourhood is very quiet, it is like living on a farm. Own transport required. There is plenty of site seeing in the area. Great game reserves just around the corner. Bushmans has its own little private swimming area at the river, which becomes very busy over December. Kenton has lovely swimming beaches, as well as rock pools for snorkeling. Bushmans and Kenton beaches are great for hiking up and down and just absorbing what nature has to offer. Our house at Kenton–on–Sea is called River's Edge because it is really on the bank of the Bushman’s River. Stroll down a green lawn path right into the water. It is light,bright sunny and friendly with spectacular sunsets. A perfect holiday spot!

The SpaceA spacious, light, secure and private house with three bedrooms - two double and one twin - that is suitable for holiday makers and writers/academics in need of a retreat by the sea. There is an ensuite bathroom (toilet, shower and twin sinks) and a separate bathroom (toilet, bath, separate shower). Both bathrooms are recently renovated. A private outdoor shower (with hot water) is also available - wonderful for after the beach, and to shower under the stars. Large windows and sliding patio doors lead into an open plan living and dining room, that is connected to an open kitchen equipped with a large fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee grinder. A second set of sliding patio doors lead onto a smaller enclosed back garden. The living area has three sofas, an armchair and coffee table. A TV and DVD player can also be found. A dining table (seats six), drinks trolley and sideboard ensure plenty of space for indoor meals. A washing machine and additional fridge/freezer is available in the garage - with easy access for the living area. For writers and academics looking for a retreat: - A large dining table (seats six) is available in the spacious open plan living area. - The outside table splits into two and makes for good - mobile - desks. - Two additional outdoor tables can be moved as needed to provide everyone with quiet, comfortable study/writing spaces. Guest AccessA large enclosed private garden, outside covered braai and living area - with fabulous built-in-braai and outside furniture - and secure parking for three cars behind an electric gate. The house is equipped with a recently upgraded security system, including outdoor beams. Interaction with GuestsA fabulous local Kenton resident manages the property in my absence. She will welcome you, show you around the house and is available to assist with any questions/queries. I will also be available on the phone or email to answer any questions you may have during your stay. The NeighborhoodKenton-on-Sea is a beautiful small Eastern Cape town that is nestled between the Bushman's and Kariega Rivers. The result is a variety of beach and river options, including safe lagoons for swimming, rock and tidal pools, life guards on a Blue Flag beach and many opportunities for walks along beach and river. Stunning sunsets top off your day. Kenton is well equipped with an independent bakery, two butchers, a Spar supermarket, two bottle stores, coffee shops, petrol station, pharmacy, doctor, dentist, post office and ATMs. Several riverside restaurants in the surrounding area offer lunch and dinner options, and a beachside restaurant/bar/pizzeria is just a ten minute walk from the house. Horse riding on the beach, kite-surfing spots, canoe trails, walks and great swimming are all available! If you are looking to see wildlife, there are several nature reserves in the Kenton area, including the Sibuya reserve: accessible via a boat that leaves at the bottom of the road, literally a 3 minute walk away. Getting AroundKenton-on-Sea is a 1.5 hour drive from Port Elizabeth and East London airports, both of which are a short flight from Johannesburg. It is possible to arrange a lift with a shuttle service from PE airport to Kenton. Car rental is very reasonable in South Africa and cars can be booked to collect from the airport. Another option is to take a couple of days to have a super road trip down to Kenton via the Karoo. I'm happy to provide suggestions of routes and overnight accommodation on request. Other Things to NoteBed linen is provided. Please bring your own bath and beach towels. Electricity and water are included. A washing machine is available. High speed wifi is available (additional cost); you can purchase data bundles or an unlimited plan from the service provider in Kenton at very reasonable rates. 3G reception and cell phone reception is very good. There is an internet cafe in town that also provides printing services. The "cleaning fee" includes getting the house ready for your arrival, and a final clean up. Should you want someone to assist with cleaning during your stay (additional cost), do let me know. Whilst the water is safe to drink, many find it too brakish and prefer to buy purified water. There is a water purification provider a 5 minute drive away and there are two 25 litre water dispensers that you are welcome to refill at the purification provider (most environmentally friendly and cost-efficient option). You can also fill the dispenser with smaller (5l) bottles that you can purchase at the local Spar supermarket.

          LOCATION. This property is located in the small village of Kenton-on-Sea, about midway between the towns of Alexandria and Port Alfred, on the R72 route from Port Elizabeth to East London. It is in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The Kenton-on-Sea village itself stands between the Bushmans (Boesmans) and Kariega rivers. A large swimming and fishing beach joins the mouths of these two rivers across the seaward front of Kenton. This double story home/Villa is in a quiet part of Kenton-on-Sea. It is within 120 metres of both the river and beach. It has a sea view. The village is small and only busy during the peak holiday season of December to mid-January. The village is described as "South Africa's best kept secret". This property is available at any time but most especially over the summer period of November to April, including Christmas and New Year. The period of mid-January to late March has proven very attractive to people from the UK and Europe as it provides a very relaxed, warm beach-holiday get-away, an alternative to the long northern winter. Windy days are few at this time and the year-end volumes of SA holidaymakers have gone home. A lovely feeling of relaxation envelops the village at this time. DESCRIPTION: The house/Villa comfortably accommodates 6 people. It is configured with living and entertainment areas upstairs and 4 bedrooms downstairs. Cannon Rocks provides one of the best kitesurfing locations anywhere in the world. The town plays host every year to the Cannon Rocks Kiteboarding Classic competition. And is regularly visited by some top Kiteboarders. The major attraction is the unspoilt and uncrowded nature of the beaches, coupled to a stable and predictable south westerly and easterly wind which are both cross shore. These conditions are also enjoyed by Windsurfers. The town is a premier rock and surf angling destination with the site of lone anglers making their way down the unspoilt beaches a beautiful sight. There is a charter company (Big Blue) in town that takes visitors on deep sea angling, snorkeling or scuba diving excursions. There is a two-hour drive that takes visitors through the Golden Mile dairy farms on the spectacular cliffs overlooking Bird Island and the world's biggest coastal dune field. The road turns into the state forest where century old trees form a dense canopy over the road. The road ends in Alexandria, where it branches back over the mountain to Cannon Rocks. Two hiking trials begin in Cannon Rocks. The first (7 km) starts right at the western end of town at the Cannons and winds through the bush to a look-out over the coastal dunefield. It then goes back on the beach. It is advisable to wear a sun-hat and take water. The second trial is a two-day trial that can be booked through the Addo Elephant Park offices.

Being only 4 minutes walking distance from both the Blue Flag Beaches and the Kariega River lagoon and slipway makes it the perfect holiday destination for both couples and families. Open plan living/dining area with fully appointed kitchenette leads to a courtyard garden with table and seating. The 2 en suite double bedrooms are in a double storey configuration with private entrances as well as indoors it be needed. The DSTV offers the full bouquet. Guinea fowl, abundant bird life and sometimes little buck come to visit regularly Ideal for families as well as couples of all ages wanting to have an easy saunter to the ocean and quiet privacy. Prices during our High Season will be higher than otherwise Our rates are based on a quote per bedroom sleeping 2 and Self Catering. The Area is called the SUNSHINE COAST,and quite rightly so. Our beaches offer kilometers of sandy walks or beautiful rock pools to investigate. Our two long tidal rivers, the Bushmans and the Kariega, make for safe swimming to those guests who are a bit weary of he Ocean. Eastbourne Road is the original road in Kenton on Sea and the position of the cottage is ideal for peace and tranquility with stunning views. The birds sing all around you. The access to the river path is a must Getting AroundThere is a shuttle that links Port Elizabeth to Kenton on Sea. Once there it would be advisable to have a car but it is not essential. All beaches are within walking distance, as are the shops and restaurants. There is a river shuttle up to Sibuya Game park that is stunning for day visits. Other Things to Notethe house is fully alarmed and beamed. The area is safe and friendly. There is a gas hob and electric stove. Outdoor cooking is encouraged by means of a weber and mobile wood braai. All amenities are easily accessible on foot. The local shopping is delightful. The local food supplies are delicious.

              The SpaceWe offer our guests an appartmen which accomodates a family of up to 5 but have other rooms available should more space be required. This appartment has its own prifate entrance and is self-contained with dining area , a small kitchenette with fridge and limited facilities for preparing coffee or tea and small meals. We offer guests a relaxed environment where they have access to the garden, a barbecue area as well as a kitchen where they can prepare larger meals. ( The town offers several very efficient take-away services, as well as fresh fruit and vegetable shops and a very well run Spar Supermarket ) If we are advised well in advance, we can also prepare meals for guests during the week. We will be happy to help with any travel arrangements that guests want to make, as we are very familiar with the area. Guests have safe and secure parking within the grounds. Getting AroundGuests would need to have their own transport in order to get here and to access all the interesting venues. For any back packer traveller there is a bus shuttle carrying passengers between Cape Town and Port Alfred. We would be glad to assist with information for our guests Other Things to NoteAlexandria is a small village surrounded by beautiful, stark Eastern Cape countryside It is situated ideally at the official entrance to the Addo Elephant Park.It is a comfortable drive away from good swimming beaches (Kenton-on-Sea, Bushmans River, Cannon Rocks and Boknes ) Hikers and cyclists have challenging and beautiful trails to enjoy, all within a few km. of Alexandria. Kite surfing is becoming popular in Cannon Rocks We can easily organise fishing and River boat cruises for our guests Many game parks surround Alexandria. Schotia Private Game Reserve offers reasonably priced day trips through their park as well as trips to Addo. Alexandria is proud of its 9 Hole/18 Tee Golf Course. Visitors are most welcome to have a game there and join in with any Club activities. Stanleys and The Sandbar are most interesting restaurants to visit ( we can advise as to how to get there) one being a floating restaurant on the Kariega river and the other affording a magnificent view of the winding Bushmans River.
