The SpaceAs you stretch from under your duvet, wake up to a view of either blesbuck at the waterhole or the sunrise over the dam. You'll be in our contemporary country style farmhouse with it's six bedrooms, five of which have fireplaces, and all six have ensuite bathrooms. Settle with a book or catch up on your favourite series in our pyjama lounge, which has a guest cloakroom. Downstairs, have a cuppa in the fully equipped kitchen, play chess in the lounge, join your friends for breakfast in one of two dining spaces, or catch up on the previous night's post mortem at the bar. A sparkling pool may beckon and you could well glimpse a meerkat or wild springhare completing it's morning chores as you stroll down to the water's edge, or choose to inspect our pecan grove... Just an hour and half from the city of Jozi, you may be greeted by duiker or blesbuck which roam freely on the broader farm with its 350 year old stone circles and a labyrinth where you may find your essence...Please note that, for an additional fee, if your needs are greater than that of our homestead, we have just completed our Home in a Distillery. This is a separate home next to our homestead which has another four bedrooms with bathrooms ensuite. Guest AccessWe encourage guests to book the entire home, which has sleeping space for 18 people in total and a well-equipped kitchen for self catering.
Fill our walls with laughter and create an authentic country experience by making the most of all our portion of the farm has to offer - the cosy fireplaces in the lounge and pyjama lounge, the open fireplace in the boma and the large gas braai. Guests are welcome to play volleyball, flop into the swimming pool and commune at the bar. Explore the stone circles, walk the labyrinth, whisper in our pecan grove and frolic in the dam, paddle canoes, or quietly catch fish. Remember to pack your camera to capture your memories as you watch the universe paint the sky in broad sunset brushstrokes. Interaction with GuestsOur friendly staff live on the farm and will be present to welcome guests, offer cleaning services and happily prepare the pizza oven, braai and fireplaces. Our housekeeper is available to assist guests in preparing meals, setting the table and setting up outside tables and chairs. As hosts we may pop in from time to time to share stories and check in to our beautiful space, a dream created by my husband, Johno. The NeighborhoodOur farm is in the Free State in the countryside on a broader game farm on the banks of the Vaal Dam, where we have 200m of exclusive water frontage. It can be so quiet, one can hear the flapping of a bird's wing. Yet, adventures abound within the area, where one can take the opportunity to sky dive on the Vaal, mountain bike with fellow cyclists, watch rugby with local bikers at the Lake Avenue Inn, with its motorcycle museum and pub, sail, kite sail and socialise at the local yacht club, or take a scenic drive to the picturesque town of Parys where markets, quaint shops and delectable restaurants abound. One can also book to see local bands and musical performances at Pont de Val, along the journey to Parys. Catamarans and skippers can be booked at the local Marina for a day out on the water. Getting AroundOur farm is approximately one and a half hours out of Johannesburg. We are located on a broader farm, which you pass through en-route to our portion of the farm on dust roads, through two automated gates.
Access to the broader farm is via tarred roads which are accessible via highways. Our guests travel by car. Unfortunately no public transport is available. We offer detailed directions from both OR Tambo International and Lanseria Airports. We offer a shuttle service to and from these airports at an additional fee for overseas and out of town guests.
We have safe parking available.
During the rainy season it may be necessary at times to travel on our farm roads with a 4x4 vehicle, as it can become wet and muddy. Other Things to NoteOur farm is situated in the Free State, a land of wide open spaces where we experience all four seasons in a day. Temperatures can be high, with thunderstorms or bright sunshine in summer. Please bring hats and sunblock, sandals and walking shoes, swimming costumes and sundresses, mosquito repellant, light jackets and trousers for the cooler evenings. In winter months, we experience icy, misty mornings and evenings and some mid day highs of 15 degrees in winter. Bring warm winter woolies, windbreakers and beanies... Our summer season usually begins around mid September and continues until about mid March. We can experience cold spells from the end of March until about 10 September.
Our farm house has a microwave, dishwasher, TV (DSTV),
Braai facility, washing machine, tumble dryer and beautiful fireplaces.
Please supply your own groceries.
