An exchange of culture and travel experiences is one of the main reasons we do Airbnb. The NeighborhoodQuiet secure neighbourhood, ample bird life and easy access to town and great restaurants. Best part is the AWESOME view over the Knysna lagoon. The town is built on the banks of the spectacular Knysna Lagoon, surrounded by a marine reserve – the Featherbed Nature Reserve – which is home to more than 200 fish species. This includes the endangered Knysna sea horse (the world's only estuarine seahorse), as well as the beautiful but rare Pansy shell urchins. The Knysna lagoon is protected from the sea by two sandstone ‘heads', situated at the entrance of the lagoon. The magnificent Knysna Heads are accessible by boat, or from hiking paths in the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Book for your excursion at the Knysna Waterfront Getting AroundNo real public transport in Knysna except for a Tuk Tuk that operates from the nearby waterfront. Other than that there are affordable shuttle services that can be phoned to pick you up and drop you off on request. We own a car dealership and have a spare driver on occasions so if you have no wheels, we will make a plan for you to enjoy Knysna!

It has x2 bathrooms, it has a view bath on-suite, with a sliding door leading onto the deck(on suite), it is the only one with an private outside shower on suite which is rather special, as I am told by guests that have booked that cottage a while ago, (see bottom review) …the views are unspoilt and very beautiful, an amphitheater of deep forest valleys and the mountains surrounding Knysna 15mins away, are ahead of you. CHECK THIS OUT… We stayed at Lavender edge in June over the long weekend. Wow, were we in for a surprise. The view is amazing, the house is beautiful and the fire was laid out –we just needed to light it. One of our best experiences though was the outside shower. Even though it was technically winter, we all fought for the opportunity to use it. Nothing like a piping hot shower under the stars. A definite must. Regards Lizbé Hi Mark & Colleen This is what the people say… Everything your clients say is true. In 2007 my then boyfriend and now husband took me for a weekend to Forest Valley. I fell inlove with the place instantly. We visited it 3 times after that. Recommended it to friends of ours. Who were very, very impressed!!!! 1.The views from the deck is amazing… 2.The privacy is great! 3.All the cottages are neat and tidy. 4.You and your staff are very friendly. The lagoon is the heart of Knysna and is protected by the amazing monolithic sandstone “Heads” which are best explored either by boat or by hiking the various paths around Featherbed Nature Reserve. Knysna is the culinary capital of oysters and a variety of other delectable seafood and is a well known cultural hotspot for arts and crafts. Adventure activities like tree canopy gliding, kloofing and abseiling are available and you will find some excellent Golf courses nearby. Hiking and Biking trails are in abundance and of course you have the maginifent Indian Ocean and the Lagoon on your doorstep for aquatic activities. Brenton on Sea has a beautiful butterfly Reserve, so do take the time to visit this natural park and look for our famous Brenton Blue Butterfly, the Knynsa Lourie (now renamed the Knysna Turaco) and Bushbuck are often seen in the area and have been spotted in the brush opposite our house. On occasion we have had visits from a tortoise or two and owls can be spotted on the road in and out of Brenton. Of course dolphins are regularly sighted from Brenton Beach and if you visit during mating season, you may be fortunate enough to view the Southern Right Whales from the deck. There is a 5km long white sandy beach (one way), within walking distance from our house, although parking is available at the beach. The Rocky outcrops are pretty spectacular, explore Castle Rock! The beach stretches from Brenton on Sea to Buffles Bay, look out for our famous Black Oyster Catchers that breed in the area along the way… Closer to the house is the lovely “fisherman’s walk” which ofters shady lookout bomas on a wooden pathway, making an easy, romantic walk along the cliff edge with beautiful views out towards the magnificent Indian Ocean. Take time to hike down to the ocean where you can explore the little hidden beaches, caves and private fishing spots. Lake Brenton provides a jetty and slipway for boats and canoes. No public transport available, would recommend having a car, although taxi's can be arranged for transport in and out of town and/or airport transfers. The pool is in the front garden of the house and is in an enclosed garden, however if you have small children please be mindful not to leave gates or front door open. The upstairs Deck is also quite open please do not allow children to lean, jump or climb over or on the railings.
