The SpaceDambulu Oya Eco Estate is a grower of traditional varieties of Rice, tropical fruits and veg. The property is a private lair open to guests who like to take part in farming activities or just for relaxing in the serenity of natural beauty, comfort, and hospitality that Sri Lankans affectionately offers.
Guests can indulge in varieties of splendid vegetarian organic cuisine. Traditional varieties of rice, vegetables and seasonal fruits are offered from the land.
There is an abundance of flora and fauna to enjoy and green paddy fields surrounded by a river that runs through the land and where it is possible to take a bath.
The lodge offers comfortable living in two rooms(sleep four adults), living area and a terrace overlooking the rice fields.
Due to the tranquility of the place, it is suitable for families. Children can enjoy being outdoor, roam freely in nature and enjoy gardening!
The farm is at only 4 km from the Dambulla rock, one of the main tourist attractions of the island.
Dambulla is located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, situated 148 km north-east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy.
For its central geographical location and for the cultural and agricultural importance, it offers a rich diversity of archaeological, cultural,natural and recreational activities and interests.
Travelling to Dambulla is only by Road, but train service is available from Colombo to Kurunegala or Kandy.
Dambulla is at the footsteps of central mountain range. The location offers cool and dry climate for most of the year. There are 2 major monsoons in the area from November to December and May to June.
In the vicinity there are also hotels where outside guest can go and use the pool area. The Neighborhood
The central Province of Sri Lanka is an important location for country's heritage, culture, agriculture, nature and trade. Located in the center of the country Dambulla is tossed between traffic from Jaffna, Trinco, Kandy and Colombo.
Central province of the country is predominately a farming area with some industries like food processing, mining are found. The region is has several forest reserves, wild life sanctuaries and unreserved forest ares(wilderness).
The region has a good wild life including Elephants, leopards, Sloth bears and other typical srilankan mammals. Location serves as a resting and nesting ground for several migratory birds.
Dambulla is a peaceful town popular with Tourism, Agriculture, Archaeology, and religious importance. The area is ancient dating back to prehistoric era. The climate is cool with dry air and two monsoons in a year. The monsoon starts from November to December(start of the rice farming season) and May to June.
The months of December, January, February are cool months with pleasant wind. There may be scattered showers through out the year. The vegetation of the area is of interest with several hard trees of good timber are growing. The flora and fauna consists of varieties of wild flowers, medicinal plants, fruits and edible varieties. Area grows different fruit varieties, vegetables, nuts, spices and vast areas of rice.
There are interesting trekking areas over the farm lands or through wilderness. Several rivers springing out from central mountains flows through the area offering the opportunities and facilities for boating, kayaking, rafting and swimming. The area is good for spotting wild life and elephants are seen roaming in nearby villages Getting AroundBuses from Colombo, Kandy, Sigiriya and other places arrive regularly at the Dambulla bus station located 1 km outside of the town on Kandy road.
The buses are running from main bus station in Fort Colombo to Dambulla(travel time 5hrs). If you like to take train the trains are running from Fort Colombo to Kurunegala or Kandy(travel time 4hrs) and a bus needed to be taken to Dambulla.
There are comfortable Air Conditioned buses running from Kandy(travel time 1hr).
There are various transport companies or rent a car with driver. If Airport pick up required please do let us know to make arrangements at additional cost. The drive time to Dambulla from airport is about four and half hours if the roads are less congested. The rush hour starts from 7AM to 9AM and from 4PMto 7PM.
- There are several buses to Colombo from the bus station, it would cost you about 140 LKR in non A/C buses.
- Buses to Kandy are approximately 190LKR (AirCon small bus) or 100LKR by regular bus.
- Dambulla cave temples would take you only an hour or two, so you should be visiting Sigiriya the same day. Bus to Sigiriya can be obtained from the Dambulla bus station.
- A tuk tuk to Sigirya will cost (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) LKR (May 2013). If they won't go down in price, tell them you are taking the bus.
