The SpaceYou'll have your own room with a comfortable bed (double or 2 singles), laptop-friendly desk and a big closet, and you're more than welcome to make use of the apartment: the kitchen, living room and bathroom are all well equipped and recently renovated. Make yourself feel like home. :)
- We deny request from empty profiles.
- When you send a request, make sure to let us know what time you expect to arrive (for check in), and if you'll need parking. Guest AccessWe do not provide food, but help yourself to coffee and tea. Stashing your groceries and cooking in the kitchen is no problem, of course!
Steam iron and ironing board is available on request.
Parking is available on designated guest spots (check my photos for a map of them) and require a permit (which you get when you check in). Please remember to return the permit when you leave! Interaction with GuestsAdam and I share this apartment, but generally only one at a time. We both work at Uppsala University (the department of game design), have semi-flexible work schedules and frequently work from home.
We are social creatures and happy to hang out, eat together, maybe give a tour around town or just answer questions and help out.
But it's your time, your stay. We won't intrude. The NeighborhoodWe live in the area of Visby known as Bingeby, a 15 minute walk northeast from the city center. It is a very practical area to live in - we have our own grocery store, live a few minutes walk from the big-box shopping streak, are within 20-25 minutes walking range to everything in the city, and we're entirely free of the the noise, traffic and late night crowds of the inner city.
We also share a great garden with barbecue etc, and unlike most of Visby you can actually drive a car here. :)
Parking is available on designated guest spots (check my photos for a map of them) and require a permit (which you get when you check in). Getting AroundWe walk everywhere, but riding a bike is super convenient too - the entire city is within a couple of minutes ride and the rest of the island is flat and easy to get around. You can borrow our bikes during your stay, or use one of the many bike rentals - available near the ferry terminal and the eastern gate ("Österport").
From the ferry:
Grab a taxi at the terminal (~150kr) or walk through the city center (~30 minutes). There are a few semi-decent buss connections number 11 drops you off at the roundabout (bus stop: Havdervägen) just 4-5 minutes away from me. Number 41 drops you off at roughly the same spot only the other side of the roundabout (Othehamarsgatan).
Eg: if you don't feel like walking the entire way, talk to the driver and ask hir to help you get off as close to Bingeby or Tjelvarvägen as possible. Bingeby = the part of the town I live in. More drivers will likely know the area rather than my exact street.
Reserve a taxi (175kr) or walk (35-40 minutes).
A shuttle taxi is available if pre-booked (minimum 24 hours prior to your arrival). The name is Visby Shuttle, it's 125kr, all electric and takes you to the door. Book online at visbyshuttle dot se.
Airport Coaches operates during the summer season (June 13 – August 12). The second stop (Östercentrum) is your best bet - 15 minute walk from us.
Normal bus is infrequent and the bus stop is 400 meter from the airport, and they don’t get you particularly close either. Number 61 drops you off at Lummelunda Skarpek (first stop) which is 1km / 12 minutes from me. Other Things to NoteWe deny requests from empty profiles. Complete your profile and introduce yourself to the community. Let us know who you are, where you're from and what you do. If you are reserving for two people, please introduce both of you.
Let us know when you make the reservation, at what time you expect to arrive (for check in) and depart.
We're also open to permanent roommates. If you're looking for a place to *live*, get in touch.
