The SpaceChristina Local Hostel consists of one large building with three bedrooms and one bedroom connected to the sitting room. It is surrounded by a spacious from yard perfect for stargazing, a cozy backyard where you can wash clothes by hand and pick bananas from the banana tree. I often cook in the outdoor kitchen and guests are welcome to share meals with me for a small contribution or even cook for themselves. I have guests staying for longer and shorter stays. Two females from Denmark will stay in one of the rooms from November until May. I expect my guests to share sitting room, kitchen and bathroom (except for bedroom 4 to which bathroom 2 is connected), but the guests can have a private room. Two of the bedrooms have large bunkbeds and the other two are equipped with a queen-sized bed in each. Interaction with GuestsI live in a separate building next to the house of airbnb guests and am therefore available and more than happy to give advice, recommendations and other kinds of help anytime to my guests.
I teach English at Nianjema Secondary School and I live by myself. I have had a couple of years’ experience with having guests staying in my home and I, myself, also like to travel.
Also, I will be happy to teach some Swahili to my guests if they like. The NeighborhoodLocated a 5 minute motor taxi ride from the city centre or a 20 minute walk, my home is the perfect place to stay if you wish to experience the local african life, but still being within walking range from the city centre and the beach. Right outside of my gate women are cooking chapatis, children are playing in the streets and the pikipiki drivers (motor taxies) are hanging out. In other words, my home is located in a cozy, vibrant, and local area of Bagamoyo. Safety measures are also taken care of: there is a wall surrounding my house and a night guard at night. Getting AroundIt is very easy to get around in Bagamoyo. Everything is within walking distance, but the motor taxis (pikipikis) are very cheap and easy to catch. An alternative to the motor taxis are the bajajis, which is like a tuktuk, in which there is room for three people. The bajaji, too, is very easy and cheap to get around with. Furthermore, it is possible to get around by bike - I have four bicycles available for renting. Other Things to Note- I have a pet dog which doesn't stay in the house building, but walks around outside.
- There is also a computer room facilitated for guests.
- The price of your stay is negotiable if you stay for a longer time and/or if you are a bigger group of people.
- It is possible to rent bicycles for a small amount of money.
