The SpaceIn 1969 our family first visited Great Harbour Cay, and before the afternoon was out they fell in love with the Island and purchased this townhouse - even though it was still under construction at the time! Four generations of our family have enjoyed the property and we love it as our personal home, and are happy to be able to share the experience with our guests. This personal attention is evident in the high end spa-like furnishings, designed by a renowned San Francisco interior designer. The duplex townhouse with decks on both levels is modern, bright, and clean with new furniture inside and out. The house is complete with modern amenities such as DirectTV, wifi, phone, full kitchen, dishwasher, and washer/dryer. There are two bedrooms upstairs each with ensuite bathrooms. The master bedroom has a pillow top king size bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds. Downstairs, the living room has a comfortable queen size sofa bed, as well as a half bath. We picked this particular townhouse because of its amazing location. It is an end unit with a double sided dock, able to accommodate even 60 ft. long sailboats. We have recently installed 110/240V dock power and water. The house has its own reverse osmosis water purification systems, meaning you will always have clean, safe, and tasty water to drink right from the tap. The front deck has perfect views of the entire marina, and the rear deck directly faces the open view of the overwater sunset. The beaches on the island are among the most beautiful in the world, and you will never meet friendlier people than those from Great Harbour Cay. The property is great for a group of friends, a romantic getaway, a family trip, or a special event like an engagement or even weddings. We can arrange for a boat with guide that can take you fishing, kiteboarding, snorkeling, spearfishing, or just island hopping to find your own stretch of deserted beach. Guest AccessOur guests will have exclusive access to the entire house. No one else but you will be on site, but our manager who lives nearby will be available to assist you- whether it is to show you the local stores for shopping, suggesting a restaurant, arranging for a rental car or boat, or even bringing by some fresh coconuts! Interaction with GuestsWe will not be present, but can be reached with any questions, and the manager is always nearby if needed. The NeighborhoodThe Townhouses are located in Great Harbour Cay Marina, just a short ride from the beach, stores, and restaurants. The people on the island are very kind and friendly, and the beaches are among the best in the world. Getting AroundThe property manager can pick you up at the airport (a 5 minute drive away), and we can also help to arrange taxis or a rental car. We also provide 4 bikes and 2 kayaks for your use, and anywhere on the island is within walking/biking distance. Other Things to NoteGreat Harbour is easily accessible by air- a 20 minute flight from Nassau or about 50 minutes from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. We are happy to help you arrange flights. Whether your ideal vacation consists of action packed days of watersports, relaxing on the beach, or taking a nap on a hammock under a palm tree, Great Harbour Cay is the perfect destination. One of the main reasons we, as well as our guests, love this place so much is that it is not at all touristy and is truly a tropical paradise destination. Escape the hotels, traffic, and noise of other more crowded islands. This makes it a little more complicated to get to our island home, but is certainly worth the effort. Some of the most commonly asked questions by renters are: 1. How do I get to your island? There is an airport on Great Harbour Cay, and is usually accessed either from Nassau or Florida. If you fly into Nassau (NAS) there are two regularly scheduled flights each day on Le Air at 7:50am and 4:30pm from Nassau to Great Harbour Cay, returning from Great Harbour to Nassau at 8:20am and 5:00pm, and the flight is about 17 minutes. The flights are reliable and cost $140- $160 per person round trip. Please search on line for "flyleair". Alternatively Le Air offers charters on their smaller plane that carries up to 5 passengers, and they charge $510 each way for up to 5 people. The advantage of their charter is that you can pick the times yourself. The other option is to fly from Opa Locka Airport, which is about half way between Miami Airport and Ft. Lauderdale Airport to get a direct charter flight to Great Harbour. We have flown for over 15 years with Markus of Air Charter Miami and they are very safe and reliable. The flight is 45-50 min and carries up to 8 passengers. Please search on line for "airchartermiami" If there are just 2-4 people, it may be more economical for you to fly through Ft. Lauderdale with Tropical Ocean Airways on their regularly scheduled flights on Fridays and Sundays, which cost about $614 per person round trip including taxes and fees: Departure in FLL at 1:00 PM, arriving in Great Harbour at 1:50 PM Departure from Great Harbour at 2:30 PM, arriving in FLL at 3:20 PM Please search online for "fly tropic" We are happy to help coordinate flights for you. 2. Is there shopping on Great Harbour Cay? There are two grocery stores and a couple of liquor stores on the island. There are plenty of non perishables for sale on the island like drinks, bread, pasta, cereal, as well as milk, butter, etc. However we recommend that our renters purchase their fresh fruits and veggies as well as steak, chicken, and cold cuts either in Nassau or Florida (depending on where you fly from) and bring them with you on the plane. If you have at least a 3 hour layover in Nassau, we know a driver who can pick you up at the airport, take you grocery shopping, and then bring you back to the airport in time for your onward flight to Great Harbour. There is also a great new shopping service in Nassau where you can order your groceries ahead of time on line, and they will be delivered via the daily flights from Nassau on LeAir. You can even order before your trip and we will pick them up and have your kitchen stocked for you with the groceries that you order! You can search online for "foodstore2go" 3. Are there restaurants on the island? There are several good restaurants on the island, and some notable ones are- Beach Club: about a 5 minute walk down the beach from our villa. They serve breakfast and lunch everyday and then sometimes on Fri and Sat they serve dinner too. Best cheeseburgers ever. Coolie Mae's: Cute restaurant in town on a hill with great sunset views. Really good fish and conch. Pool Bar: Open Air restaurant in the Marina. Great atmosphere with BBQ grilled steaks, chicken, and seafood. Carrie Earl: A British couple runs the restaurant here and it is a really good mix of European and Bahamian food, with a great bar. There is also a fun BBQ at the Marina every Friday night, as well as a themed dinner (Italian, Cuban, Creole, etc.) every Saturday night at the Tamboo restaurant next to the Marina. There are several other small restaurants as well. 4. Do you have a coffee maker? Yes! We have a French Press (kindly donated by a previous renter) as well as a Tassimo single cup coffee maker that uses "t-pods". We have dozens of pods there for you that come in about 6-8 different flavors. 5. Do we need a car? We do have bikes available for your use, but you will find a car convenient if you do decide to venture away from the villas. Most things are within 2-3 miles, but in the sun and with a few hills this can get far by bike. We can arrange a rental of a car or golf cart for you. 6. How do I get to your property? Our property manager Wally, who is somewhat of a celebrity on the island and is immediately loved by our guests, will pick you up at the airport and bring you to our property (less than 5 minute drive). He will also get you oriented as to where the shops and restaurants are located, and provide any local knowledge you desire. He also makes an amazing coconut milk drink!

Developed in the 1930s as a private kingdom island paradise by Wallace Groves, an early pioneer in the Bahamas, the ninety three acre Little Whale Cay hosts its guests in three secluded sea-view houses: Little Whale, Peacock, and Flamingo. Little Whale House With dashes of thirties' Cuban style, Little Whale House centres on an airy, open-plan living salon which has a pitched pine roof, bay windows, bar and dining area and leads to a kitchen and an ensuite double bedroom. Decor is light and relaxed, with wooden floors, pickled pine furnishings, cool white fabrics and comfy sofas, characterised by some lovely period details: original tiles, mosaics, antique lamps and bathroom fittings; true in spirit, easy as finding conch shells on the shore. A courtyard garden with covered BBQ and dining leads to a parasol-shaded breakfast patio, where the sea glints through the palms and the coral stone stairway curves down to your private white sand beach and oceanfront bar. Flamingo House The pretty, sunny, red-tiled Flamingo House has four bedrooms, a sitting and dining room, kitchen and sea-view terrace. It nestles in undulating lawns of coconut palms, banyan, citrus and tamarind trees, where peacocks sleep in the shade, close by the duck and flamingo ponds. Peacock House A simple, white and pastel-painted heart-stealer, Peacock House has one king-size en suite double bedroom, a sitting room, kitchen, and hammock-strung veranda, its white wooden decor off set with pink, lilac and sky blue. Peacock is set on a grassy rise on the island's south coast, steps from the swimming pool with views over Chubb and Bird Cay. Wherever you wander on Little Whale Cay you discover places to enjoy: small sandy beaches, flowering seaside and garden arbours, a glade of trees enclosing a candlelit dining table, a spit of land curling away to Lighthouse Point, where guests gather for sundowners and raise the island's flag. Little Whale Cay even has its own 'downtown' - an enclave of pretty pastel house for the island's twelve staff, with a village store, harbour, and small church of native coral stone called 'Stella Maris', where the Cay's owners married, now available for guests' weddings. Whether you are looking for a family getaway, fishing or snorkeling excursion, or just days spent walking and exploring magnificent white-sand, deserted beaches with crystal clear water, this is your perfect destination. This beautiful, centrally located townhouse is located in the idyllic Great Harbour Cay Marina. All decks face west - giving guests amazing views of sunsets! This is the perfect 2 bedroom 2 bath townhome to get away from it all! 1. Email me for the Web URL link for additional questions: Alternatively Le Air offers charters on their smaller plane that carries up to 5 passengers, and they charge $510 each way for up to 5 people. The advantage of their charter is that you can pick the times yourself. The other option is to fly from Opa Locka Airport, which is about half way between Miami Airport and Ft. Lauderdale Airport to get a direct charter flight to Great Harbour. Markus of Air Charter Miami is great and they are very safe and reliable. The flight is 45-50 min and carries up to 8 passengers. Email me for the Web URL link for additional questions. If there are just 2-4 people, it may be more economical for you to fly through Ft. Lauderdale with Tropical Ocean Airways on their regularly scheduled flights on Fridays and Sundays, which cost about $614 per person round trip including taxes and fees: Departure in FLL at 1:00 PM, arriving in Great Harbour at 1:50 PM Departure from Great Harbour at 2:30 PM, arriving in FLL at 3:20 PM Email me for the Web URL link for additional questions. If you have any questions about flights, we can help answer them. 2. Is there shopping on Great Harbour Cay? There are two grocery stores and a couple of liquor stores on the island. There are plenty of non perishables for sale on the island like drinks, bread, pasta, cereal, as well as milk, butter, etc. There is also Colby cheese, salami and usually ham and turkey cold cuts. They also usually have lemons, limes, oranges, romaine lettuce, cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, plantain and sometimes grapes, avocados, cucumber and bananas. However we recommend that our renters purchase any specialty fruits and veggies as well as steak, chicken, and cold cuts either in Nassau or Florida (depending on where you fly from) and bring them with you on the plane. There is also a great new shopping service in Nassau where you can order your groceries ahead of time on line, and they will be delivered via the daily flights from Nassau on LeAir. Email me for the Web URL link for additional questions. 3. Are there restaurants on the island? There are several good restaurants on the island, and some notable ones are- Beach Club: about a 5 minute drive from our property. They serve breakfast and lunch everyday and then sometimes on Fri and Sat they serve dinner too. Best cheeseburgers ever. Coolie Mae's: Cute restaurant in town on a hill with great sunset views. Really good fish and conch. You can also call and order fresh bread or take away food. Pool Bar: Open Air restaurant in the Marina a few minute walk from our Townhouse. Yes. But we recommend that you bring your own coffee because the island pretty much just carries Folgers. 5. Do we need a car? We do have bikes available for you to rent for a minimal charge, but you will find a car convenient if you do decide to venture away from the Townhouse. Most things are within 2-3 miles, but in the sun and with a few hills this can get far by bike. There are 2 rental car companies in the marina that makes it easy to arrange a rental of a car or golf cart. 6. How do I get to your property? Our property manager Wally, who is somewhat of a celebrity on the island and is immediately loved by our guests, will pick you up at the airport and bring you to our property (about a 5 minute drive). He will also get you oriented as to where the shops and restaurants are located, and provide any local knowledge you desire. He can also bring you fresh coconuts if you ask! Wally will also make sure you have fresh water to drink as the tap water is drinkable but a bit brackish. He also collects the garbage every couple of days. Arthur Balford (Stinky) is our favorite boat captain and is available for day charters ($300-$550) per day depending on what you want to do. He can take you fishing, snorkeling, conching, swimming or to Flo's for lunch on Little Harbour. He is great fun! Bone Fishing can be arranged with Jimmy Darville. It is $400 for half day and $600 for a full day. If you have always wanted to try bone fishing, this is the place!! If you would like someone to come and cook for you at the townhouse, we can give you some contacts. Usually you have to provide the food and they will do all the prep and cleanup. Always keep an eye open for fresh fish on the docks in the evening. Herbert usually goes out at least once a week and can provide fresh fish. Also, you can ask Wally or Arthur about where you might get/buy fresh fish or lobster. Island Nurse is Frenchie There is a Phone in the townhouse, only available for local calls. Calling the states can be very expensive best to have people from the states call you on Skype on the above number. Make sure you put an international data plan on your phone before leaving the states. Only AT&T works on island. Please email me if you have any other questions around this.

The second level consists of a kitchen (10 years old) living/dining space and a master bedroom and bath.  The loft level provides additional sleeping space, storage space and has a ½ bath making 3 and ½ baths in all.  Ocean views on the ground and second levels are through window walls of glass.  On the second level the window walls also extend to the south and west views.  The ten year old kitchen includes dishwasher, full electric range, induction cooker, garbage disposal, toaster oven, microwave and ample storage and cabinetry. The living room and bedrooms contain tv- two in the master bedroom. Wireless Internet and multiple phone outlets throughout.  Excellent central heat/ac plant. RO independent water supply in separate pump house connected to year round well. Ample storage in loft, lower level of wall shelves next to washer, dryer, ironing board, and spare fridge. Carport for old jeep country sedan and golf carts on each side. inflatable hard bottom dinghy with 3 1/2. the 16 foot flatsboat with 90 hp Honda goes with sale but not rental.  We have an excellent caretaker, available cleaning gal, and repair back up. Various boat, cycle, jeep rental available at the Marina- arguably one of the best protected boat sites in the Bahamas. Rental/pricing data. Rental at $3500/week with two week minimum. Rentals are applied to the sale price of $1.2M. Recreation: Friends of ours- old Cuban 'royalty', say they settled here as being the finest beach in the entire Caribbean. Beautiful white sand free of rocks and reefs so common on other noted Carib beaches. Bone fishing- the best- some located on the shore- and the Hawk's Nest area- a few minutes away by foot or dinghy- routinely has produced nice schools on the low rising tide. The adjoining Ambercris Cay area has the most extensive- and, arguably the best- bone fishing flats in the western hemisphere. Our Joe Lee designed golf course is down to nine holes, for now, but memorable. Guys'gals meet every morning. Reef and blue water fishing in the area is excellent. Good snorkel and diving sites. As Bahamas websites note, there are many points of interest on or near the Island. The water is among the most navigable anywhere. Most shallow reefs are off observable points. The Beach CLub is a 10 minute walk up the beach- for breakfast, lunch dinner, and a bar. Try the Angies Special for lunch with a Goombay Smaash. The Airport- with more options- is across the road from the Club. Other eating facilities include the Carrie Earle Boutique Hotel(gourmet), the Poolbar at the swimming pool (best ribs ever), and Coolie May's Bahamian Restaurant in the village at Bullocks Harbour.

Nothing compares to having your own private island. Conceptualized by Wallace Groves, an American financier and early pioneer in Bahamas luxury tourism, Little Whale Cay is a slice of heaven just a swift 15-minute flight from Nassau. Imagine a lush green tropical paradise wedged in the crystal blue ocean, only for you and your fellow travelers to enjoy. The 93-acre property is separated into three separate sea-view homes, Little Whale, Peacock and Flamingo. Each home is equally appointed with all of the pleasures of modernity: such as a flat screen TV, DVD player, and Bose sound system. Outside, there’s plenty to keep you occupied under the Bahamas sunshine. Start your day with a match on the tennis court, cool off in the infinity pool afterwards, enjoy a sunset sail around the island afterward, and round out the day sipping cocktails on your al fresco dining area looking out to the sea. Each home varies in size and bedrooms and maintains an exceptional standard of luxury. With a clear attention to detail, the homes seamlessly match one another with tasteful furnishings and bright splashes of color, keeping with the Caribbean flair both inside and out. There’s a full living room and kitchen in each, although a stay on Little Whale Cay doesn’t mean you’ll be tending to the stove—your private Chef will be taking care of that for you.The private island is perfect for traveling groups who are seeking an added sense of privacy. Enjoy a day with friends and retreat back to your own little spot of heaven. Peacock House has one double bedroom; Little Whale House two bedrooms; Flamingo House three. Regardless of what spot you lay your head, clear views of the ocean will be right by your side.Whether you call Little Whale Cay your own private island for a wedding, family reunion, or a much-needed break from the routine with your best friends, everything you could possibly need to create lifelong vacation memories is right here on the island, just for you and your loved ones to enjoy.Copyright © Luxury Retreats. If you like walking on pristine beaches with shells everywhere and great snorkeling in less than 20 feet of water -- well, all this can be yours directly outside our Conch Villa. We purchased and renovated this villa in 2004 with updates periodically. It's the perfect retreat for a small family who loves turquoise water (there's lots of shallow water for children to play in), and totally laid-back vacationing. Some of the best bonefishing in the world! Percy can take you, just ask for him when yhou get there. The berry islands are considered a sport fishing mecca. Whether your particular style is reef fishing, deep-sea fishing, bone fishing, or bottom fishing the waters off Great Harbor are teeming with enough fish to satisfy any appetite. In May the islands come alive with competitors vying for trophies during the fishing tournament held in Great Harbor Marina. If you need a car, Happy People, Elorn Rolle, or Carrie my housekeeper will rent one or a golf cart, your choice. Boats are also available. Eat at the Pool Bar everything is great!; my favorite is the cracked conch! The Bahamians upon request will make you key lime pie, peas and rice or other local dishes for a small fee. The villa's interior is furnished in the Bahamian tradition. There is one master bedroom with a queen size bed; and two lofts --one with twin beds and the other with a queen size bed. The living room and bedroom have cathedral ceilings. The full kitchen has a breakfast bar; and there is also a small dining table. The living room and bedroom open up onto a wrap-around deck with fabulous views of the ocean and golf course. At night you can see the light of the cruise ships as they get ready to dock at their privately-owned islands. (With permission you may visit these islands and take part in the fun and food). In the morning you'll get an orange sunrise view from the master suite. The kitchen is equiped with stove, oven, refrigerator, dishes,, and all cooking utensils. A washer and dryer is included. The master bedroom has a TV and VCR/CD player so bring your favorite movies. There is presently no cable or satellite, however, it is being shipped as I write this.. The villa is equipped with a phone for local calls and there is Wi-Fi. Walkways lead from the villa to the sea; and thatched umbrellas adorn the beach. Everything is within walking distance; but cars, golf carts aand boats are available upon request. Don't miss out on visitng this island .Great Harbor is known for its spectacular diving and champion sportfishing, second only to the Biminis. The lobstering is unbelieveable. Lying in a long lacy line this group of 30 cays cover an area of 12 sq. miles. We would love to reserve this home for you. Come and enjoy our home.If total seclusion and a restful breeze are your idea of a vacation, then the Berry Islands are for you. Great Harbor is for those who wish to escape the maddening crowds, and let their troubles drift out to sea with the afternoon tide. The airport does accomodate small jet planes. Six person maximum. Beautiful 3/2 house on the beach in Great Harbour Cay overlooking the white sandy beach and spectacular island views. Enjoy this natural paradise from either the full length terrace, the sundeck overlooking the lush landscaping and ocean view, or even the inside with nearly a 180 degree view of the ocean. The private beach sits just 25 feet from the sundeck. Master bedroom, which overlooks the ocean, includes a king size bed and plasma T.V. The second bedroom has a queen bed and satellite T.V. The third bedroom features a full and a twin bed. Laundry area also includes a bunk beds. The living room has a queen sleeper sofa bed and a plasma TV. House sleeps 8. DirecTV available on all TV’s, propane BBQ, dual central air conditioners, washer, dryer. Fishing and Boating.: Snapper, grouper and most other fish abound in the waters off Great Harbour Cay. Deep-drop fishing with electric reels is popular. Only Hawaiian slings may be used to spear fish. Lobsters also abound and some are huge (see picture of my son) . Salt-water flats fishing in the shallows west of the Ambergris Cays is superb, and Percy Darville -- a renown master -- is available to take you out. You can rent boats from Elorn at Happy People, at the marina. Whether rented or your own boat, it's essential to have up-to-date marine charts, in order to safely navigate the many shallows; generally, deep ocean lies to the east of the island, shallower water to the west (the Bahama Bank). There are lots of things to do and see in day trips to the surrounding of Great Harbour Cay, including the enigmatic Blue Hole , Flo's Restaurant and the Ambergris Cays. Overview and Activities. : Great Harbour Cay ('GHC', pronounced Great Harbour Key), only 126 nautical miles from Miami, is a secluded out-island 6.7 miles long by 1.5 miles wide. The island is a quiet, simple paradise, with beautiful beaches, great fishing and a well-protected marina. More importantly, it is blessed with wonderful people (about 500 live on the island). There is very little shopping and virtually all transactions are cash (both U.S. and Bahamian currency circulate) -- no credit cards, no ATMs. This is a quiet, laid-back place. Aside from excellent fishing and some great boating, it's a place to rest, enjoy a good book on the beautiful beach, pick sand-dollars at the 'Bajito' or nurse a tropical drink, Games range from golfing on the 9-hole course to Mexican Train dominoes. Fairs, art exhibits and other activities. Clothing is informal, with T-shirt, shorts and sandals welcome everywhere. Features : The largest of the Berry Islands in The Bahamas, Great Harbour Cay. The airport is near its southern end. Virtually the entire east coast is beach and that is where most of the non-Bahamians have their vacation homes. The 'Village' (officially Bullock's Harbour) is where most of the locals live and where you can buy groseries. A secure hurricane hole, near the center of the island and accessed from the west, offers excellent protection for boats, as well as a marina and fuel dock. Caves near the northern end of the islandines Cay, is a shallow area which the Cuban-Americans call the 'Bajito' (pronouced bahitoh). Roughly a square mile in size, this sand bank comes out of the water at low tide and is a treasure trove of sand-dollars and shells for children of all ages.
