The SpacePete's Cottage is a traditional wooden cottage, which was well maintained, lovingly preserved through its many years , and boasts some beautiful original architectural details.
It has two bedrooms, a walk-in closet, a living room, dining room, one bathroom and a kitchen. As it is build in the quirky Saban style it is hard to take some spacious looking pictures. However our general feedback is that it is bigger than expected. There is enough space to separate yourself and have some private time or spend with your company together. However do not expect a mansion because it still is a cute little cottage. We have recently imported our furniture and collectables from all over the world and it now has an internationally eclectic feel to it. We still have some projects to tackle, where we hope to restore the historic features of the kitchen with its stone chimney and enlarge the bathroom. So keep an eye on this space! Never the less everything is clean and perfectly functional.
It is located in the heart of Windwardside, a convenient (meaning 2 minutes) and easy (meaning flat!) walk to most of Saba's restaurants, supermarkets, and dive centers. It has a gorgeous view of Mount Scenery, and while you are in Pete's Cottage you will be part of the Saban life. You can sit outside and be private or immerse yourself in the day to day happenings in our little street. A friendly greeting to passers by often turns into a laugh, a chat and maybe a discussion about rain and cisterns ( maybe even a Carib or two) with the locals.
Most people come to the island for the world class diving (Saba National Marine Park) or the incredibly diverse hiking such as Mount Scenery (the volcano and Elfin forest), the Sulphur mines or Island trails through the forests and along the deep valleys. There is very limited shopping and no beach culture. Which is why Saba is so unspoiled. Saba is a 13 square km volcano and it is breath taking!
If you are interested, a dive package ( 2 dives per day, all transfer costs and accommodation in Pete's Cottage ) is available through Sea Saba Advanced Dive Centre. Prices available on request and are based on a 7 nights stay and 5 days of diving ( 2 dives a day) ( Price is based on double occupancy )
Please let us know if you are interested in this option. Guest AccessYou have use of the entire house: 2 bedrooms ( 1 with queen size bed and 1 with single bed ), 1 bathroom, living room ( with a daybed ), dining room, and kitchen with stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and all the cooking utensils you will need to make your own meals. Interaction with GuestsWe (Debbie and Terri) are still working in various places around the world before we can settle down permanently in Pete's Cottage. Great spots to sit on a Saban wall and enjoy the Saban lifestyle Getting AroundWe will arrange to have Garvis or Peddy pick you up at the airport when you have arrived on the adventure-laden Winair flight--or from Fort Bay Harbour if you prefer to arrive by boat. The trip from either the airport or the harbour costs about $15. Once you are in Windwardside, you will not need to arrange any other transportation. If you plan to dive, Sea Saba will make all your transportation arrangements to Fort Bay. However, there are some worthwhile trips outside of Windwardside that we would recommend: Cove Bay (near the airport) to enjoy the fabulous tidal pools and the sheltered swimming area created by the breakwater, Sandy Cruz hiking trail which starts in Hell's Gate, or a trip to the capital, The Bottom, to wander and explore. You could walk those distances but keep in mind that it can be hot and that the road will go up and down and both directions can be hard in different ways. You could also book Garvis to drop you of and pick you up.
There are also some rental cars available on the Island.

Sabans love to boast about the size of their cisterns, but the end result is that they are the best water conservationists around. Pete's Cottage has one of the most original historic cisterns and water catchments on the island and the slab of cement is highly functional and precious for this reason it needs to stay clean. We hope that you will also understand the need to preserve this precious resource of water and use sparingly!
