The SpaceWe have a lovely cottage in Bitton, a pretty, classically 'English' village positioned between Bath and Bristol. It is just 10 mins drive to central Bath and 20 to central Bristol.
Our house dates back to the 1700's but was renovated 2 years ago and now provides modern, very comfortable living, There are 3 bedrooms ; one with a king size bed, one child's room and the smallest is our baby's nursery with cot. We do have a fourth but prefer to use this to store our belongings and usually use this for laundry, however it does have a single bed in it so please enquiry if you'd like to use this room as well. The downstairs area is semi-open plan and we have a log burner, triple glazed sash windows, under floor heating, range cooker, automatic bathroom light sensors and rain sensors for the automatic skylights. There is a bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs, both with power shower cubicles. We have dishwasher, washing machine and wifi. In the living area there are books, DVD’s, an ipod dock and games and the TV has freeview and digital radio.
We have a private parking space at the property, actually two, but we use one! Happy to leave both available if required. We also have 2 Pekin hens that live in a coop in our garden and provide one or two fresh eggs a day in summer. We can arrange for someone to have them while we are away or can leave them if you're happy to let them out in the morning, feed them, collect eggs and lock them in at night!
Our home is very family friendly with toys, a small trampoline, a slide, (all toddler sized) and sandpit but is also very suited to couples. It is very safe, well insulated and cosy and we have wonderful, friendly neighbours who would be pleased to help you with any queries.
We have a high chair, cot, changing mat, stair gate and any other baby paraphernalia you can think of for you to use!
Our property lies at the entrance to the most desirable area of the village. To one side is the Bath road which takes you directly into central Bath, and on the other side is the pretty church lane which leads you to the 11th century church, St Marys whose bells you can hear throughout the village. Next to the church are fields, farms and horses! Bitton is an ancient village, featured in some of John Betjeman's poetry and is the birthplace of author Dick King Smith and actress Richenda Carey, home to artist Kate Ward and television presenter Noel Edmonds. The Grange, by St Mary's Church, was once the home of Jane Seymour, one of the wives of Henry VIII.
There is an excellent farm shop up the road and a corner shop just over the road from us. Nearest supermarket is in Keynsham, a five min drive. There are lovely walks and the Bristol to Bath cycle track for cycling enthusiasts. There is a fantastic Bath ales pub, The Swan, just a 5 min walk up the road. It serves great food and has a large garden and play area. Bath, obviously has all manner of attractions and we would be very happy to leave suggestions for visits to both Bath and Bristol and any other info you might require.
We will provide milk, tea, coffee and a welcome basket with fruit, cereal, bread, croissants etc. There will be fresh, Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels for your use as well as a welcome pack with information about sightseeing and local amenities. Interaction with GuestsWe are not usually present during guests stay as will arrange to stay elsewhere but will organise key/ changeover etc prior to your stay and will be available by phone/ email for any queries. We leave a welcome pack with house guide, area info and suggestions on parking, eating out etc, The NeighborhoodBeautiful historic village, stunning countryside and proximity to Bath and Bristol. Getting AroundWe are on a direct bus route into Bath. Buses come every ten mins and take you into central Bath in 10-15 mins. If driving, we have parking at the property and it is a straight road into Bath, 10 min drive. We are exactly halfway between Bath and Bristol but central Bristol can take longer to reach- 20-30 mins by car.
