We have three bedrooms each with private bath, private kitchen and common area. This is a beautiful home and property. Located in very private and quiet area. Awesome view of Cook inlet and five volcanoes. Wild life all over the property including, moose, bald eagles and an occasional bear. The property is actually two homes. We live in the upper portion which is separate from the bottom. You have a private entrance. Please note that we do NOT serve meals, this is a self serve room rental lodging. You have a private large kitchen that is fully appointed for all your cooking needs. Mile marker 155.5 of the Sterling highway to Agusta lane. Turn south on Agusta ln. Look on the right about eight driveways for the sign and the big wood salmon. turn up the driveway. 15- 20 minutes to Homer. 1 hour to (website: hidden)- Kenai.

    The Anchor Point Captain Cook Lodge has 4 twin beds and 2 queen beds. This is a massive log home with a high cathedral ceiling. There are two full tub/shower baths, one on the first floor and the other in the loft.. The full Kitchen has upscale stainless steel appliances including refrigerator, double sink, glass cook top, convection oven and over-the-range microwave oven. There is a large dining table in the kitchen. The family Room has an entertainment center, leather recliner seat for two with center drink console, a leather recliner chair and leather couch. The loft has a second full bath, 4 twin beds and a queen bed. There is a large open porch with table and chairs and gas BBQ where you can relax and watch for moose and eagles. The Captain Cook is located on Bear Paw's 14-acre homestead property. Access to the building is a private drive that connects with both the Sterling Highway and Camai Road. This is one of 4 unique log buildings offered by Bear Paw Adventure. These buildings are considered unique, even for this picturesque Alaska location, because of the handcrafted style of the buildings, Alaskan furnishings including big game mounts, log furniture and the extent to which the buildings are stocked with supplies. The massive log structures are set among the spruce trees, alders and wildflowers on a 14 acre section of an original Alaska homestead. Guests enjoy comfortable lodging and a sample of real Alaska. Anchor Point is the westernmost point in the North American connected highway system. Driving directions from Anchorage are fairly simple - just take the only road south out of Anchorage (the Seward Highway or Route 1), then continue on Route 1 when it turns right and becomes the Sterling Highway. Follow the Sterling to Anchor Point. Total driving time from Anchorage is about four hours. This is one of the most scenic locations in the world with views of 4 volcanoes across Cook Inlet and rugged peaks and glaciers across Kachemak Bay. Free parking is available at each building and most guests traveling to Alaska fly into Anchorage where they rent a car for the 200-mile, scenic drive to Bear Paw Adventure. The location is convenient to stores, shops and restaurants in nearby Anchor Point, Homer and Kenai. Guest can enjoy these cities and then retreat to quiet and peaceful Alaskan nature and their private log home at Bear Paw Adventure. Bear Paw Adventure's unique log buildings are located on a private 14 acre homestead property. This homestead is in a rural Alaska area, about one mile north of the historic community of Anchor Point. Captain James Cook lost a ships anchor here in May 1778, leading him to name the location Anchor Point.

        Moose Cabin was built along a well used moose trail and these big Alaskan animals are frequently seen feeding or bedding down in the grass near the cabin.The dining room is a south-facing room where guests can enjoy watching for moose and other Alaskan critters. The building has 840 square feet of living area, with a full kitchen that has a combination microwave/convection over-the-range oven. Moose Cabin is Bear Paw’s only building without washer and dryer and dishwasher, but it is one of the most "warm and cozy" of these unique, real-log buildings. The den has leather recliner furniture and a flat screen, smart HD TV.

                          Stariski Overlook Home This home sits on a site selected as a homestead over 100 years ago. The view is simply mesmerizing. Gaze across Cook inlet at Illiamna volcano, Saint Augustine volcano and on a clear day all the way to Mount Douglas. In the foreground you gaze over the Stariski Creek valley. Located at the end of a private driveway you will find a large plush and cozy cabin perfect for enjoying Alaska in all seasons. Located a few miles north of Anchor Point we are about twenty minutes north of Homer or fifteen minutes south of Ninilchick. Choose from countless options for salmon and halibut fishing in either direction. This is a retreat from which you can embark on daily excursions to go fishing, wildlife viewing, hiking, clamming, or flight seeing, Rainy days are perfect to visit the Islands and Oceans Visitor Center, the Pratt Museum or meander the shops and art galleries of Homer. If you want a break from it all this is a fabulous place to sit and read a book, write a book, paint, grill salmon or halibut and contemplate life. On a clear day dinner on the deck is unforgettable. Bald eagles frequently are soaring overhead. Moose are occasional visitors to the yard. Other wildlife sighted from the house include black bear, ermine, river and sea otters, harlequin ducks, gulls, yellowlegs, belted kingfishers, loons, harbor seals, murres, oldsquaw, scoters, Steller's jays, chickadees, kinglets, warblers. A one-or-a-kind log stair leads to the large loft with four twin beds, a log queen-size bed plus a full shower/tub bath. The front of the building has a large open porch with a gas BBQ and table and chars. There are lots of special features in this this building including extensive hand carvings and articles recognizing explorer Captain James Cook who anchored off the beach here in May 1778. Cook named this location “Anchor Point” after his ship the HMS Resolution lost a large anchor here on May 28, 1778.
