The SpaceBarn Swallow Bungalow is an an 8x12' dry "Tiny House" situated in the private corner of our one-acre wooded lot. The loft, accessible by ladder, sleeps two adults** comfortably on a queen-sized mattress. A refrigerator, microwave, hot kettle and kitchen-ware provide the basics necessary for simple breakfast fare.
Enjoy tasteful and unique furnishings handcrafted by the owner/artist, darkening shades for a better nights rest during sunny summer months, and a private porch for morning coffee or evening cocktails.
While the cabin does not have running water or a toilet, the immaculate full bathroom is located only 40 steps away in the main house, and is exclusive to guests only. There is plenty of hot water for showers after a day out in the cold, or a day of camping.
With ample parking space and a private entrance you'll feel at home, but to yourself.

Due to the high demand here in Alaska during the summer, our cancellation policy is 5 days advanced notice for a full refund (through AirBnB). Thank you for understanding!
Please don't hesitate to contact us for any questions or concerns! Guest AccessParking is available in the front of the main house near the walk path leading to the cabin. Guests have private access to the cabin, and access to the full bathroom through the well-maintained and clean garage. Bathroom use is exclusive to guests only, and is not shared during your stay.
The main home, including, but not limited to the kitchen, living room, dining room, outdoor living area (deck) and laundry facilities are not available to guests. We will be happy to provide you with clean kitchen-ware and drinking water daily during your stay or as needed. Interaction with GuestsAs avid travelers and AirBnB guests throughout the US and Europe, we understand the delicate balance of guest/owner interaction. We are happy to provide you with any help, directions, information or advice for your stay in Fairbanks while respecting your privacy at all times.
I am an artist, and also work a part time job, so my schedule is sporadic. However, I am only a text away, and will always be available via my phone if I am not at home. The NeighborhoodBarn Swallow Bungalow is located in what we believe to be the perfect Fairbanks location. We are in a quiet neighborhood near the Chena River, accessible by an unpaved, but well maintained country road. Our neighborhood provides ample privacy with access to a variety of eateries and stores within walking, biking or short driving distances.
We are 10 minutes away from the Fairbanks International Airport, 7 minutes from a major grocery/shopping center, and only 1 mile or 3 minutes from two lovely local restaurants, the Pump House and Lemongrass Thai Cuisine. In the same 2 mile vicinity we have a convenient store (Just-a-Store), Lulus Bread and Bagels for coffee, breakfast and lunch items.
University of Alaska Fairbanks is 10 minutes away, along with the Tanana Valley Farmers Market, and various other restaurants and shops. Our small downtown is a mere 15 minutes drive.
If you are venturing to Alaska in the winter months to view the aurora, we are located very close a few out-of-town viewing areas, but you can also see "the lights" right from the cabin.
Fairbanks boasts some of the best skiing conditions in the world, as our snow is very dry and fluffy. 10 minutes from the property at University of Alaska Fairbanks are lovely, groomed cross-country ski trails available to the public that span miles and miles. If you enjoy downhill skiing, Moose Mountain is a 20 minute drive away with excellent skiing conditions and spectacular views.
We are happy to provide maps and lists of local eateries, stores and places of interests during your stay. Getting AroundWhile our property is on a flat road with a flat driveway, if you are visiting during the winter months it is essential that you rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Our roads are very icy and snowy during the winter, and getting around up in the hills is impossible without 4-wheel drive.
If you are traveling during the summer months there is no need to rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
If you are arriving in a car you may park right near the walk path to the cabin in the front of the main house. We are walking distance to a bus route, or you can bike into town easily from the house in a matter of minutes. Other Things to NoteThe sleeping area in the cabin is a small loft accessible by a very sturdy, but small ladder. Persons with injuries or any other ailment that may prevent you from climbing the ladder to the bed may want to reconsider this booking.
Since the cabin is only equipped to sleep 2 people in the loft, we regret that we do not offer the space to more than two adults. People traveling with a child can be accommodated by sleeping on the sofa. The extra fee is for extra bed linens, towels and general usage.
As noted previously, the bathroom is located inside the main house, only 40 steps from the entrance of the cabin to the bathroom door through the garage. It should be noted there is another small set of stairs from the garage to the bathroom area (please see photo).
Our property has a well, so the water is not ideal for drinking. It is not toxic, it just doesn't taste good, so we provide filtered drinking water to all of our hosts via our water filtration system in the house.
We have two cats on the property, but we do not allow them in the cabin out of respect for guests with cat allergies. They are shy, but friendly!
