The SpaceThis home was built in 1892, and is one of Juneau's oldest homes. Most of the homes on 6th St. were built by the same family. The apartment is cozy and sweet and has been stocked with everything you'll need to make your stay comfortable. If there is something you need that you can't find, please ask us! We're happy to do our best to get it for you. Two people can comfortably share the space, a small child could sleep on the couch. Guest AccessThe house has a yard that we use in the summer, and you're welcome to join us if we're out there or use it yourself. We are social people. We have friends over for dinner in the yard and fires in the fire pit, you're welcome to join us! Interaction with GuestsWe are happy to help you with things and we live above the space. The NeighborhoodDowntown Juneau has some great restaurants and shops that you can easily walk to from the house. They are blocks away. We are also walking distance from some great hiking trails. Getting AroundIf you really want to explore all the nooks and crannies of Juneau, it's worth renting a car. There is a bus system, but it is somewhat limited. You won't need a car if you are planning to be downtown most the time and in the summer there are lots of tourists buses departing downtown regularly to go to attractions such as the Mendenhall Glacier. If you do rent a car, know that parking is on the street, although it's easy enough to find a spot close to the house. Other Things to NoteThe apartment is downstairs and we live upstairs. It is an old house and you will hear us moving around doing things. You will also hear the dogs from time to time. We are always mindful of folks below us, and this has not been an issue over the years, but if this sort of thing will bother you, this might not be the best place for you to stay. We have chickens and so long as they're laying, we'll put some eggs in the apartment for you upon arrival. There will also be fresh locally roasted coffee, coffee grinder and both a press and a coffee machine depending on how you like it. The kitchen will also be stocked with salt and pepper and organic herbs and spices for cooking. We are happy to accommodate a well behaved dog. We have two small dogs of our own, so we do ask that you let us know ahead of time if you'd like to bring your pup so we can make sure it's a good fit. One of our dogs struggles bit with other dogs ;)

The SpaceLooking for a Juneau hotel, try us instead. We have a warm comfortable queen-size bed with newly renovated private bathroom and shower with a dresser, a computer desk and a place to hang your clothes. Your room overlooks a salmon stream, or coho stream that divides the property right in half. Often bears can be spotted snacking on the salmon from the stream. There is one kitchen which is shared by the household. You can expect a clean room, clean bedding, clean bathroom and shower, and high-speed WiFi Internet. Our neighborhood is quiet with the occasional Eagle squawking at a Raven or a dog barking at a bear crossing the road. The bear's here are generally friendly and don't bother anyone, so they are fun to look at and snap pictures of. We live at the end of a quiet street where the main view from the home is overlooking the salmon stream dividing the property so the view is quite scenic and wild. We have wild strawberries from a strain the Russians had brought from Siberia over 100 years ago during their fur trade growing in the front yard. We also have blackberries that are ripe now and blueberries. Everything around the home is green as we live in the world's largest temperate rain forest. We have a nice fireplace that is thoroughly enjoyed during cold rainy nights. If your stay is extended we have a washer and dryer. You have full access to all the homes amenities including kitchen, bathrooms, refrigerator, freezer, etc. Public transit is a six minute walk from our home where you can visit downtown Juneau or go anywhere in Juneau your heart desires. We are about 3 miles away from the Mendenhall Glacier where there is a nice bicycle path to use. You are more than welcome to borrow my bicycle if it is here. Just let me know and I will give you the combination and make sure you lock it wherever you you stop. Please consider our place when you're looking for a Juneau hotel as your stay will be enjoyed far more and we are always looking to meet new friends. We also have a large flat screen TV and Netflix. Most of our guests are either working or playing so interaction at home is generally limited. But my past experience with Airbnb has always been with wonderful guests who somehow seem to find more of each other. Our neighborhood is quiet and my neighbors alert me of anything out of the ordinary as do we. My home is next to a beautiful salmon stream and mountain so the view is great. The city bus is 6 minutes away and runs every hour or bring your car or borrow my bike. On occasions I loan my car out. Guest AccessGuests have access to all the house amenities, fridge, freezer, garage storage, tv, bicycle, my car if available. The SpaceThis large bedroom had a double bed and a twin, if separate beds are needed. Two bathrooms are shared by all guests and us. The Base price for one varies, depending on the season. Two adults live in this 4 bed two bath home. The house is built on pilings and sits over a creek. The wrap around deck is a wonderful place to watch the time go by. Guest AccessGuests will have a private room and shared bathroom. Kitchen is always available for hot beverages. A wrap around deck is a great place to have your morning coffee, afternoon beer, or smoke. We do not charge a cleaning fee and appreciate that you tidy up after yourselves and strip the linens if you are able. Interaction with GuestsWe like to give guests their privacy and yet we are happy to be available to answer questions, and share information. The NeighborhoodOur house is situated on a quiet cul de sac. Douglas was once the bustling city and gold mining town to the less developed Juneau. We are less then a mile walk to Sandy Beach which boasts a lovely walking paved trail complete with historic information of the glory days when an active gold mine was here. Also walking distance are a public library, the Douglas Cafe, Douglas Island Pub, Louie's Bar (the Douglas Inn), P.O. fire station and hiking trails. Getting AroundThe city bus stops every half hour right behind our house. We are a five minute (2 mile) drive to downtown Juneau. We do have two "clunker," bicycles and helmet that may be borrowed. National chain car rentals are available a the airport. In the summer month, Juneau Car Rental, located a few miles form he airport (the do have pick up and drop off) might be cheaper. The buses do not go all the way to the Mendenhall Glacier nor "out the road," past Auk Bay. Other Things to NoteA continental " help yourself," breakfast is provided and we ask that you clean up after yourself as their is no daily housekeeping service. A 12% bed tax is charged by the city and we will request it from you in cash upon your arrival. Thank you.

The SpaceThis two-bedroom, fully furnished and equipped apartment is available year-round. Located in a quiet, historic downtown Juneau neighborhood, it's only minutes walking from downtown shopping, historic gold mines, and boreal rainforest hikes. It offers B&B comfort with vacation rental independence. It's great spot for families and couples traveling together. Because the apartment has a full kitchen and dining room, our guests have the option to "eat in." Guests consistently comment on how comfortable they were during their stay because the apartment is so home-like. A second 2-bedroom apartment is also available at times, allowing for parties of up to 10 people. Guest AccessYou'll have access to all the standard kitchen equipment: pots, pans, toaster, coffee maker, microwave. The unit comes with cable television and pretty good internet. You will enjoy your own laundry facility. Interaction with GuestsI don't live at the cottage, but I am nearby, and almost always available by phone. The NeighborhoodWhile the whole city of Juneau has about 30,000 people, it is squeezed between the mountains and the sea. "Downtown" Juneau, where the apartment is, feels more like a city of 8000 people. It is highly walkable, but expect lots of hills. Some of our streets are actually staircases! Getting AroundThe cottage is about a 5 minute walk from the center of downtown, yet is situated on edge of town overlooking the city. If you have a car, there is off-street parking (very rare in our neighborhood!). If you walk away from town on Basin Road, you will soon be at the trailhead for Perseverance Trail and Mount Roberts Trail, both great hikes. Other Things to NoteThis gets a little complicated: There are actually two apartments, an upstairs and a downstairs. Each have two bedrooms, each has a queen and two twin beds.

The SpaceBetter than a Juneau Hotel - one room, double-sized bed, next to bathroom, in a quite home next to a salmon steam in the valley of Juneau, Alaska. The room is clean and comfortable with a shared kitchen and all the housing amenities. The house comes with a wood burning stove and strawberry patch out front. Lots of space for your car, boat or whatever you might bring along. Lots of hot water for long showers or baths. We're in a residential neighborhood just minutes away from Mendenhall Glacier and Lake. Shopping centers and airport are also a few minutes' drive away, and there are good biking trails and a bus stop nearby. The coho salmon jumping about in the neighboring stream outside your window can attract bears sometimes, so be sure to check the area before leaving the house! For something to do, I am a part time whale watch captain. Check out this site for an idea of what it's like: Whale Watch (URL HIDDEN) You are welcome to borrow my bicycle and head to the Mendenhall Glacier if you like, if I am not using it, just let me know and I can give you the code to the lock - if you break it please fix it. It is an amazing trail to the glacier from where we live. The movie theater is also not far away, less than 2 miles. Safeway and gas stations are 3 miles away as well. Down town is 7.9 miles away where there is a tram, another movie theater, and tons of shopping and bars. The capitol building is there as well as numerous docks and beautiful boats to look at. You can find out more about me by checking out my movie which is showing on PBS called Smokin' Fish and we sell copies for $20. Please consider our warm cozy home when looking for a Juneau hotel. You won't be disappointed. Guest AccessGuests have access to WIFI and the kitchen and parking along with all the homes amenities. Guests can use the kitchen and often end up cooking for others staying with us which makes a wonderful cozy evening when we have a fire lit. Interaction with GuestsI have gone hiking, whale watching, and canoeing with guests. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is quiet and clean. Our neighbors keep an eye out for anything that might go wrong or could. Bears are out and enjoying the salmon. We do our best to keep them at a distance but sometimes it is a great photo opp. Getting AroundThe public bus stop is a 6 minute walk from our house. It is called Capitol Transit. We also rent cars to our guests for $25 a day, available upon check in. Let us know if you would like to make a reservation.

The SpaceGorgeous family home overlooking the Gastineau Chanel, with views of Mt. Roberts and Mt. Juneau and full access to the rocky beach out front. Eagles, ravens, killer whales, and harbor seals are common visitors. Our home is two miles from downtown Juneau--just a short car ride or walk across the bridge. It's a three-bedroom family home containing one queen bed each in two rooms, and one full bed, plus floor/couch space in two separate living rooms. The rooms are 1960's small but our remodeled, open living area makes up for it. Enjoy a full kitchen complete with microwave, oven, warming oven, 5-burner stove, and lots of beautiful counter top space. We have a glass table for six guests plus a bar that seats six more and a four person pub table in the front living room. Our home includes a rustic, wood-fired hot tub. (It takes a a number of hours to get it up to temperature, but the view overlooking the water makes it worth waiting for.) We are also happy to offer any advice you need for things to do and see while you are here. Juneau offers a plethora of outdoor activities including glacier hikes, mountain biking, cross country and downhill skiing, heli-skiing, fishing, beach combing, over 40 well-maintained hiking trails, mountains and water everywhere you look, and wildlife at every corner. As Juneau is surrounded by water on three sides and an ice field on the other, the only access to Juneau is via ferry or air plane, but Juneau has full taxi service and a public bus system. You can also rent a car here or transport your own via the Alaska State Ferry. Our house is on the main road system just two miles from downtown Juneau, 12 miles from the "valley" or airport area, and seven miles from the local ski area. Shopping, groceries, and restaurants are a five minute drive or 20 minute walk away. Come visit, but be warned, you might just pack your bags and move here. Guest AccessEntire house--three bedrooms, two living rooms, kitchen and dining area, wireless internet, outdoor wood-fired hot tub, a front and back deck, and beach access. Our pantry has all of the essentials (spices, ingredients) and the kitchen, while not that of a gourmet cook, is begging to be used. As this is our year-round family home, we leave our belongings here but we're happy to clear out drawers and shelves for your stay. Part of the beauty of airbnb is that you get a cozy, lived-in home to relax in. Interaction with GuestsI am available via Airbnb, email, or cell phone as much as a guest needs me to be. We are generally traveling when the house is rented out so we leave detailed notes about the house and an access code to the front door. We love to offer you ideas and advice for what to do and see here. The NeighborhoodWe live along the North Douglas waterfront, looking across the Gastineau Chanel at downtown Juneau nestled against Mt Roberts and Mt Juneau. Getting AroundIt's advisable to rent a car. Juneau is very spread out and, while we don't have very much in the way of roads, you don't want to miss any of it. There is a taxi service and public buses that run right in front of the house. Downtown Juneau is a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute drive. The airport and "valley" are 10 miles away. Other Things to NoteWe love entertaining so our home is a great gathering place and is very user-friendly. You will feel right at home.
