The SpaceA cottage in the Desert. Great for nature lovers, birders, photographers, writers or any one seeking a retreat in a desert setting. Close to Bisbee, a quaint mining town with galleries and night life. Labyrinth and extensive bird feeders as well as many walking trails on 40 acres. ((URL HIDDEN) Full kitchen and dining area. Newly rebuilt and exceptionally comfortable. High speed Internet included. About Us: Our dream for Red Mountain Cottages was to create a quiet retreat space for birders, photographers, nature lovers, writers, and artists to enjoy and take advantage of the tranquility of the desert. We have always had a fascination for beautiful natural settings, and this one has its own unique personality. The stark landscape of the desert with its brilliant sunlight, big skies, dark night star-studded heavens, and clean, crisp air offers a perfect setting for escaping into an uncluttered place of restoration and creativity. After visiting Southeast Arizona on a birding trip in 2007, we fell in the love with the area and purchased a small adobe vacation home in 2008. Later, we purchased additional land around this home, including the Red Mountain Cottages property. Larry is a bird photographer who, while in Arizona, spends time out with his camera on a daily basis, capturing images of birds who live in and migrate through this area. (URL HIDDEN) Marti is a non-fiction writer with a passion for cooking and knitting. For many years, we enjoyed a career as art glass dealers, founding and operating a gallery and auction house located in Santa Cruz, California which specialized in glass paperweights. The business, L. H. Selman, Ltd., was sold in 2009 to the Clark family in Chicago, who are carrying on our family tradition of promoting paperweight artists, in their new location on Michigan Avenue.

The SpaceThe Silver King was built in 1900 as a boarding house for miners with a restaurant on the ground floor. In the 1940's it became the Bisbee Hotel. By the time we acquired it in the mid 1970's it had become the Silver King and was in dire need of restoration which we did with the original floor plan in mind. Thus, the reason for the shared baths although we added another bath on the second floor when the Room 4 bar was added. We bill it as The Smallest Bar in Arizona although the second floor lobby and adjacent patio accommodates our guests and live music we have on many occasions. All rooms are uniquely individual. All have sinks, heat, fans, TV's and wireless service. Guest AccessGuests have immediate access to a unique full bar, Room 4, as well as fine dining and unique shopping within easy walking distance to historic downtown Old Bisbee. The Wonderland of Rocks and Portal Bird Sanctuary in the Chiricahua Mountains are an hour away. Whitewater Draw, winter home of thousands of Sandhill Cranes is 20 minutes away. The Huachuca Mountains, home of Montezuma State Park and another bird sanctuary featuring many types of humingbirds is 40 minutes away. The Dragoon Mountains, also 40 minutes away, feature Cochise Stronghold and another 30 minute drive from there is the Amerind Foundation, a wonderful collection of Native American art and artifacts. Numerous other wonderous sites are within close driving distance. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood reflects the gritty but friendly sense of a historic mining town turned artists' haven. Brewery Ave, better known locally as the Gulch is unforgetably unique. Everyone has to visit St. Elmo bar directly across the street from the hotel at least once in their lifetime just for the experience. Getting AroundWalking is the best way to experience most of Old Bisbee. Just about everything is within easy walking distance. There's also a local bus service or a private taxi service for places to go of greater distance. Other Things to NoteWe have a house cat. Her name is Munchie and she is an astounding 31 years old. We are in the process of getting her declared as the oldest cat at least in the U.S. with the Guiness Book of World Records. Munchie Is with us only in spirit now.

The SpaceLocated a few steps from The Bisbee Brewing Company, we leave a 'growler' in the fridge to fill, for guests to quench their thirst with the local craft beer on draft.. Sitting out on the balcony imagining how the town must have been like as the largest city West of the Mississippi and with over forty saloons. Bisbee is still home to the Elmo, which is the oldest running bar in Arizona. However now the town is full of antique stores, galleries, boutiques and an assortment of craft shops. Each of the two bedrooms have a queen size bed and there is an air mattress available to accommodate any additional guests. A large kitchen provides you the opportunity to eat in and enjoy the scenic views from the patio. If you prefer a night on the town just a hop and a skip from the front door historic downtown Bisbee awaits to impress you with its fine dining, entertainment and galleries. This house, built in 1910 has a long history in Bisbee that we are learning slowly as people who walk by on the staircase stop to share some of their memories, particularly of Della, who lived here for many years. It's wonderful to know that this house has experienced a lot of love and happiness within its walls, and when you are inside, it feels this way. We call it the Porch House because of the amazing three sided porch with views of downtown and into Mexico that invite you to relax and daydream. The house has lovely light and flow with several doors leading to the porch. It's a small house that can accommodate four people. The second bedroom has a comfortable trundle bed which is great for kids or adults. We have several bird feeders set up and birders are surprised by the variety of birds they are seeing here. We encourage guests to add to our bird sightings list and have a birding book available to help them do so. The Porch House is two minutes walk from downtown and is located along the longest set of stairs of the famous Bisbee Stairclimb(only one flight up). We keep a map in the house for those guests who want to try the stair climb at their own pace. On-street parking is available and suitable for small cars only. Other parking is within walking distance. We are a local family with children and live nearby, ready to answer all questions our guests have about the area. This house is perfect for those who love history, who like to walk, and who are ready to relax! Additional fees may apply: - Extra people | $10 per day No cats please.

Former jail, built in 1904 and active until 1915. Due to the increased 'boarder ' demand of a booming and busy mining town, a larger facility was constructed in 1915. The Jail is a two story building; and while you are serving your sentence, you are the only inmate. This guarantees total privacy. Management will not enter the premises until you leave. Downstairs, in a small the entry way was the tiny jailer's office. The former drunk tank now houses a living room/kitchen combination, and a half bath. The kitchen is fully functional with a refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, cooktop, basic cookware and dishes. Cable TV, Wifi. On the second floor, the former cell for serious offenders is now a bedroom with a full bath, including jacuzzi tub for two, and a separate shower.. Inmates at the OK Street Jailhouse need to rely on public parking, which is available a few steps from the Jail. The small private parking area next to the Jail is off limits to our inmates. The Jail is within walking distance to some of the attractions and restaurants in Historic Bisbee. One night is $115 for one couple, each additional night $85. A double aerobed will accommade additional inmates at a cost of $20 per person for the duration of the stay. The Jail is somewhat pet friendly, depending on the size of pet. A $10 pet fee applies. The OK Street Jailhouse is in the historic area of Bisbee. Checking out the shops and restaurants is part of the fun. We have many artists and very talented people living in Bisbee. For a weekend (or even a long weekend, stay) there are a number of excursions in the immediate area. If you are a hiker, Bisbee offers some great hikes. Only 30 - 35 miles west of Bisbee, Coronado National Monument and the Huachuca Mountains have many trails. San Pedro House a short distance from Bisbee and Carr House in the Huachucas have tons of information about the local area. A little further, about a 2 hour drive northeast, the Chiricuah National Monument is an awsome place to visit. Caution, at least during June, July, and August you must start very early and bring lots of water. Many of the hiking trails are also used by mountain bikers, as well as horseback riders.

The SpaceYou and your pets are welcome! We don't believe in pet fees here! Come stay at Bisbee's famed Pie Lady's home. A lovely anachronism, your bedroom features only the best of all time periods: an organic cotton extra-firm double bed with organic sateen sheets, organic pillows, and duvet; the use of a spacious closet, modern mica heater, or a vintage fan; a Brunswick phonograph player from 1919, and douglas fir hardwood floors. The sheets are laundered with organic soap berries and then air-dried on a clothesline. The organic futon in the living room can sleep two more guests as well. We have no wifi or television here because this is a step back into the past. Rocking chair on the best lil' porch in the world (only 4 steps up onto the porch--no getting winded on those typical Bisbee 100-steps-up staircases! The house is only 3 miles from Old Bisbee, on the busline), Living ocotillo fence securing the yard, vintage-tiled full bathroom with use of organic cotton towels and locally-made soaps, bus stop bench directly across the street for easy access to Old Bisbee, San Jose, and Naco... I am very happy to answer any questions you have before/during your stay in Bisbee and make you and your pets feel at home. I personally hate falling in love with airbnb accommodations as I read the posting, only to find out at the end that there is a 3-night minimum--so I am forced to stay in some bland Motel 6 somewhere instead of getting any local color!

Arizona wine country in Wilcox and Sonoita are nearby if you enjoy wine tastings! Getting AroundWe are located at the end of the paved road - away from cities or towns - in a quiet natural setting perfect for personal renewal and relaxation, bird watching, hiking, biking. Yet we are only 90 miles from Tucson so getting here is easy - but having your own car or transportation is advised. A local shuttle service (AZ Sunshine Tours) is available if needed. Other Things to NoteThe Inn has received a Green Leaders award for all of the many conservation efforts we have installed (recycling, solar power, rainwater collection, low flow toilets and faucets, LEDs/CFLs, fragrance free laundry, etc etc.

As such, note that the streets, houses, and stairs of historic Old Bisbee are built into the contours of the canyon. Once necessity for everyday living, this is now one of the charms of our wonderful city. The streets are narrow and wind around. Two way streets are often only wide enough for one car. Turns are tight. Sometimes street signs are confusing or absent. Your arrival to your vacation rental will feature this adventure. Look at it as an adventure. You'll make it, we promise. We'll be there to guide you to the final approach into the driveway. So, relax, enjoy the ride and the scenery. Interaction with GuestsWe live, work and play here in Old Bisbee. If you like, we will be delighted to be your concierge during your stay: dining reservations, ideas for things to do, and we will be glad to answer your questions. We discovered and fell in love with Bisbee while on vacation and would love to share our town with you! Or, if you prefer to make your discoveries on your own, we will fade into the background but be there when you need us. The NeighborhoodAmazing views of B Hill and the surrounding neighborhood (even into Mexico!) of century old homes perched on the canyon walls of Old Bisbee. Many of these buildings have been lovingly restored and showcase the creative touch of the owners. You will have the unique and fun opportunity to live as a local while you are here, and probably make some new friends. The local craft brewery is a short walk away, as well as a gastropub and numerous dining options. Plenty of shopping, and points of interest, as well as urban hiking. Getting AroundOff street parking for one car. Park your car and walk everywhere in Old Bisbee. Convenient city bus to take you throughout the city and environs (including supermarket). Walking distance to local mom and pop grocery store, restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Please note that the parking is shared with your next door neighbor. Other Things to NoteEasy access to the house via four gradual stairs from the parking area. Then just a few more when you arrive to the front porch via the walkway. Not wheelchair accessible. Not ADA accessible. Old Bisbee has a lot of stairs and uneven streets, sidewalks, etc. It may be difficult for those with balance or walking challenges to navigate the property. While part of the charm of our historic town, it can be a challenge for the mobility impaired to get around. This is said with care for all. Access to the house is via a walkway that goes through the next door neighbor's property. This is a thruway only. Do not loiter (unless he invites you!). Please be mindful of this. Pets considered. Let's talk! Just in case: Feminine supplies are stocked in the bathroom. Forgot your toothbrush? We can help. Just ask! **NOTE: Price includes Bisbee occupancy tax. **

Other Things to NoteGuests typically park on Main Street and take the stairs up (located between Metalmorphosis and Finders Keepers).
