The SpaceOur home is one of the first built in the first master-planned community in the US, a company town built by William Clark to house his white collar workers from the nearby mining operation of Jerome (whose copper veins were extracted for American industry from the 1860s to the 1950s). A classic bungalow, it sits in a quiet neighborhood just a walk away from the historic town park, nature trails, and public transit to nearby Cottonwood & Sedona.
We have three free-range chickens who roam the yard daily and provide at least an omelette a day. We have also installed a greywater system to augment the dry high desert conditions of our front yard, and so have a strict organic soap & detergent policy (we ask that you only use our plant-based soaps).
Our home could be considered shabby-chic, in that we've retained many of the original elements of the house — hard wood floors, claw foot tub, cast-iron sink, and dripping glass double-hung windows — yet embellished with our own colorful sense of decor & art. Guest AccessGuests have access to the entire house — kitchen, bathroom, living room, dining room, two bedrooms, a back room & laundry — as well as the front & backyard. Interaction with GuestsFor the most part, we'll meet you when you get here, and pass off the keys & house rules. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is treelined, with ample walkways and great views, and neighbors to the east and north have each won Beautification Awards for their gardens & yard adornments.
We are two blocks away from Clarkdale's Historic Downtown, boasting the beautiful Town Park, Verde River Expeditions, Su Casa Mexican Restaurant, Main Street Cafe, the 1012 Lounge, and the new Four-Eight Wineworks featuring delicious Arizona wines.
About a mile away are the banks of the Verde River, a haven for birdwatchers & river rafters, Tuzigoot National Monument, and the Verde Canyon Railroad. Getting AroundWe are a block away from the Cottonwood Area Transit bus line, which connects to Sedona via the Verde LYNX. AZ Shuttle connects Cottonwood to Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, and an Enterprise Rentacar is close by as well.
