The SpaceYou will stay in a private gated hilltop modern home reminiscent of a New York loft with American maple hardwood floors and stairs with cable railings. The first level has a kitchen with stainless appliances, a library with books on history, philosophy, literature, cooking and art, a cozy living room and a powder room. The second level has a huge loft with exceptional views, a Smart TV with internet capabilities, a wet bar and a bathroom (tub). Also on the second level is a study, master bedroom, another bathroom (shower) and laundry closet. Both floors have outdoor patios. Sunrise and sunset are lovely everyday. Guest AccessPlease note two areas are not available to guests: The separate uninhabited guest quarters with a its own entrance (across from the front door) and the workshop next to the parking area.
At the front gate, please stop BEFORE the keypad and walk over to enter the code that will be given to you before arrival. Please park in the parking area marked by concrete bumpers. On leaving the premises, the gate will automatically open whenever you drive down the driveway. Interaction with GuestsWe are airbnb guests ourselves, so we know that a major reason people prefer a home rental is for privacy and to settle in, get comfortable and begin your vacation. If any questions arise, we can be reached by email or phone (see house manual). A few days before your travel to Arizona, we ask that you let us know your estimated time of arrival so that we can plan to greet you and give you a quick tour of the house. The house manual with information on common questions about the house is on the kitchen counter. Upon departure there is a checklist to ease your departure. We also ask that you let us know your estimated time of departure in order to schedule cleaning. If there is no guest conflict, we are happy to check you in the morning. The NeighborhoodOur Nogales friends tell us that the food is better across the line in Nogales, Sonora, but there are some little local places on Grande Avenue that might be worth a try. Typically, they are inexpensive family-run restaurants like El Serape where the grandmother or son are the cooks and the daughter or granddaughter are servers! Tubac and Green Valley have a selection of places to eat. For grocery and other shopping, Mariposa Avenue has a Super Walmart, Safeway and chain eateries.
We highly recommend visiting the Nogales School District Admin Building, which is about a 10-minute walk from the house and viewing the pictures of the graduating classes going back several decades and you can see the change in diversity over the years. Also, the Pimeria Alta Historical Museum and Old Jail on Grande at Park is great for understanding the making of Nogales. Getting AroundYou will need a car as public transportation is not reliable. Tucson Airport is about 75 minutes away.
