The SpaceI have a clean and friendly room available in my sunny and spacious 2 bedroom apartment in beautiful Alameda. We would be sharing one bathroom, a large kitchen, and the large and sunny living-room / dining-room. Since the apartment is upstairs it gets a nice breeze and lots of sun. Wifi and television are available for your use. Public transportation, grocery stores, restaurants, shopping and a movie theater are an easy short walk away in this lovely safe and quiet neighborhood. San Francisco is 20 to 40 minutes away (depending on traffic) via bus, ferry, BART or driving your own car. Street parking is easy and readily available. I have a small and private court yard for you to enjoy your morning coffee amongst the flowers or perhaps you would enjoy doing some grilling for dinner on my little barbecue. Alameda is centrally located in the San Francisco Bay Area with easy access to the many activities available for you to explore. The bedroom I offer has one full size bed, plenty of storage space, and lots of morning sun. When I ask my guests what they like about staying in my simple home, cause it's not the Ritz, they say the bed is super comfortable, the room is clean and quiet, the bathroom is kept clean, the flat has a cheery, happy feel to it, and they enjoy my hostessing. Guest AccessBathroom, Kitchen, Living Room, Garden, Hang Drying available ( no dryer) Interaction with GuestsI prefer to meet my guests when they arrive and give them the "tour", key, and answer any questions they might have. If I can't be there to greet my daughter would do so. The NeighborhoodI have a lovely neighborhood. My flat is above a shop on a block that has a dry cleaners, caterer, a great consignment shop, and a beauty salon. It's quiet, friendly and convenient to everything. There's a meditation center just across the street. My guests have all told me they really enjoyed staying in my home. Getting AroundMass transportation (check out AC Transit) is at the corner. You can catch the "O" bus directly to San Francisco or take it to BART. Walking and Biking is a great way to get around in Alameda cause it's all flat, and the speed limit on the island is 25 mph. Oh, yeah and there is a ferry to San Francisco as well. One can rent bikes at Alameda Bikes on Park Street. Other Things to NoteThe parking in front of my flat is 2 hour parking, 9am to 6pm Monday thru Saturday, except holidays. However there is plenty of neighborhood type parking all around in which one can leave their car parked several days in a row.

The cottage is in a gated yard with seating, it is a two block walk to Webster Street which features eclectic dining including Japanese, Chinese, Peruvian, Korean and Mexican restaurants. The Dim Sum at East Ocean was rated best in the East Bay, which is no small claim. TRANSIT AND LOCATION To get to San Francisco, it's a two block walk to bus or 'casual commute' (free ride to the city by commuting drivers) into San Francisco,(20 min ride) or you could take the scenic route with a Ferry trip across the Bay. Off-street parking is available for one car. If you want to drive to San Francisco, keep in mind traffic and parking. We happily offer suggestions, directions and company if available. The first Friday art-walk "Oakland Art Murmur" is an art focused community event. Guests are free to enjoy the garden. We prefer to be emailed through the airbnb site. Interaction with GuestsWe arrange to welcome guests in person, show them around and give them the key, so we'll need to know your arrival time. We live in the house just across the garden so if we meet in the garden or drive we say 'hello' or a more extended conversation if that is welcome. If something comes up we text or call or knock on the door. We are also on hand for guests departures to help with check out or any concerns or needs and to receive the key. The NeighborhoodThe house is a block from the park with wandering paths to the waterfront. We walk the cove every day with duck pond, egrets, herons, terns. Who doesn't like a bufflehead? The island is great for bikes. A block away guests can get a free ride to San Francisco from regular commuters via Casual Commute. Alameda is safe, charming and a very easy place to be with access to everything Northern California has to offer. Restaurants on nearby Webster Street are generally very good and not terribly expensive. Great burritos, Japanese, Peruvian and Chinese are within walking distance along with coffee shops and a bistro. Getting AroundPublic transit is a block away. Bus or casual commute are the easiest ways to get to San Francisco if you are not driving. Off street parking for one vehicle is available . We are a 15 minute drive from Oakland Airport. Arriving from SFO, airporter shuttle is probably the best route ( around $16 per person). You can also take BART from SFO to Oakland 12th Street Station and grab a cab at 14th street. The SpaceThe room is private, comfortable and quiet with your own bathroom and private coded entry. My 12 year old and I live upstairs; our home is a duplex and the room we offer is 1/2 of the lower level. You don't have to been seen if you don't want to :). I will bring you breakfast in the morning or if you prefer, the evening before. You have plenty of room to lounge within the room. The cafe' table is a large enough work station for a laptop and/or there's a table in the garden with wifi. The garden is a perfect place to relax. I am happy to interact as little or as much as you like. I have a home office in the backyard and am available most days. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxed, you get the sense that you're in a different era of time. The whole community is very supportive and socially active; everybody knows everybody and looks out for one another. On island the public transport is pretty slow at times but decent; all local buses can take you to the Alameda Main St. Ferry for Oakland or SF stops. Prefer BART !?, take a short bus (51) ride to downtown Oakland. There's also the AC Transit line that offers rapid transit into SF and the stop is just a few blocks away (O or W line). Once on the off-island buses like the ACT you are in good hands schedule wise. Backyard access. As little or much as they prefer. It's quiet and friendly. Yes, ferry, busses and BART nearby. Guest AccessEnter the room through a coded lock; the code will be supplied to you the morning of your arrival. Street parking only. Please do not park in my neighbor's driveway :) Interaction with GuestsI can interact with you a little or a lot and am fine either way. I do serve breakfast to you and can deliver during a convenient time frame. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is super quiet and very friendly. Good place to relax and take walks to view historic homes. Getting AroundThe AC Transit buses to SF are a few blocks away. Also a local bus can take you to Bart or the Ferry. Other Things to NoteCalifornia is experiencing a major drought. Governor Jerry Brown has placed tight restrictions on water consumption. I have added a $25 cleaning fee to cover the increased water rates. Please be mindful of your usage.

The SpaceCome stay at my place in Alameda - this is a very clean, quiet, nicely set up place to enjoy a vacation, recharge, or work from. The place is located on the upper level of a historic Alameda home and has a living room, tiny bedroom, kitchen, bathroom (with two windows and a clawfoot bathtub), and shared deck with a view of the Oakland hills. While the place is technically a one-bedroom, the feel is more like it's a studio as there are no doors separating the rooms (except the bathroom). So I am listing this for one person, however, it can easily accommodate two sharing the bedroom, or one staying in the bedroom and one on a bed/airbed in the living room. San Francisco is easily accessible by car, ferry, or Transbay bus (30 minutes to Downtown SF). BART stations in Fruitvale and Downtown Oakland are also easily accessible by bus. The bus stop is about 4 blocks from the apartment (about 7 minutes by foot). Last not least, my car may be available for you to use during your stay. Ask me if interested! Please also just ask about check-in times if you'd like to check in early or leave late; I can accommodate most requests. Alameda is a very beautiful town and worth a visit when you are in the Bay Area. Located on an island along the shores of Oakland, it has many Victorians, a beach with the San Francisco skyline in the background (often you can see the fog over the city rolling in from the ocean while it is still sunny in Alameda). It has a bustling business district (about 10 minutes walk from the apartment) with cafes and book stores, an organic grocery store, artisan bakery and natural meat and fish store (there's stores like Walgreens, Safeway, Trader Joe's as well) and restaurants offering an astonishing variety of cuisines, including German, Burmese, Italian, American, Mexican, Vietnamese, Mongolian, Cuban, Japanese, Spanish, and Chinese. There's free WiFi in the apartment. Street parking is usually easy near the house and always possible within one block. You will have the place entirely to yourself while you're here, and I hope you enjoy the place as much as I do. Feel free to let me know if you have questions.

The SpaceBeautiful Victorian built in 1890, guests will have the entire top two stories to themselves, including a large dining room, sunroom, exercise room (we use it for yoga and meditation in the morning), a third-story back deck with exercise equipment. The dining room and living room are suitable for gatherings and family meals. The dining room table (with leaves inserted) seats as many as ten comfortably. Guests are welcome to use our china and silverware. Just plan on washing the china and silver by hand. Guest AccessWarning!! Due to low, unscreened windows and steep stairs, our house is not suitable for small children. Full laundry and kitchen with all implements and condiments needed for cooking. Cable TV with Apple TV (streaming Netflix), Internet access throughout and a relatively new desktop Mac. Sunny third floor deck with views of the bay area. Interaction with GuestsWe may not be here to greet you, but the house is yours. We will leave extremely detailed information about the house. We live in a quiet neighborhood,in an island city, only 20 minutes by car, bus or ferry to San Francisco. The bus stop is only a couple of blocks from the house. If you choose to rent a car, there is ample street parking as well. We are also 1 hour away from the wine country (Napa or Sonoma) and 3 hours from Lake Tahoe. Alameda is a great place for walking, biking, kite surfing or laying on the beach (we have the only beach in the bay) There are 8 Marinas here if boating is your thing. We also have great restaurants and a beautiful Art Deco movie theater, There are over 3000 Victorian homes on the island, second only to San Francisco. The SpaceWelcome to The Green Dragon Guest House! The view and immediate proximity to Crown State Beach make this space truly special. The large windows of the living room look out at a view that spans the Central Bay Area, from Silicon Valley on up to downtown San Francisco and the Bay Bridge. You are just a few steps away from a nearly mile long state beach, where sunsets are stunning! Your bed is also super comfortable, according to other guests who have stayed here. With a beach umbrella and beach lounging chairs available for guest use, this is a beach vacation in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area! In addition, the bedroom itself is lit romantically and candles available upon request. Breakfast "essentials" such as coffee, whole milk, bread, jam, butter and eggs are offered for your use (and your own cooking). Guest AccessYour room is tastefully furnished with a king sized bed, window with a view from the bed of the bay and beach, BOSE mp3 stereo system, and a dresser with drawers to store clothes. Guests have their own sink, and share the rest of the bathroom with your host or other guests (see "Bay Views Across From The Beach"). You have full access to the fully stocked kitchen (excepting breakfast essentials, you provide your own groceries, of course. By stocked I mean pots, pans, dishes, utensils, spices, condiments, oils, etc.), plus the living and dining room spaces that offer a 54" flatscreen with TiVO DVR and HBO, leather couch, and dining for up to six around the table. Interaction with GuestsI am often present at the guest house during your stay, oftentimes working quietly in my office space ~ which adjoins and is open to the living room space. I am an amenable and caring host, and want you to have this be a wonderful experience while you are here. If there is anything that I can do to make your stay more comfortable, please do not hesitate to ask. I'm also a Bay Area resident since 1976 and know the area pretty well. If you are sightseeing, I can tell you everywhere you want to go and see. I am also a Master Hand Analyst (modern day palm reader), which is one of the things I do for work. Guests who stay here can also receive a FREE 30-minute reading from me upon request of me, provided I am in residence and we can find a mutually agreed upon time to do the reading (a $75 value). The NeighborhoodRelatively quiet and suburban, right next to the beach. During the day the street is fairly busy, but it is no freeway by any means. We are an easy 15 minute/one-half mile walk and/or short drive to the nearest mall which includes a 24-hour Safeway, a Trader Joe's open from 8am to 9pm, and a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant for healthy fast food. Though the street outside does have modest traffic on it during the day, at night it quiets down, making it sometimes difficult to remember that Oakland is only about 7 minutes away. There are also a number of restaurants in walking distance including a Chipotle Mexican Grill and a great sushi restaurant. The Trabacco Restaurant serves elegant rustic Italian, perfect for a special night out followed by a walk home. Getting AroundDriving There is easy parking available nearby, on the street of this suburban neighborhood. From SFO (no car) I recommend you take the BART train from the airport to the West Oakland BART station, and then a taxi, Lyft or Uber car service from there (Lyft and Uber are both available via smartphone apps). From Oakland International (no car) I recommend you take a taxi, Uber or Lyft. Using Public Transit Nearby The AC Transit Bus Line #20 travels conveniently between Shoreline Drive and the Downtown Oakland 12th Street BART ("Bay Area Rapid Transit") Station, taking approximately 20 minutes for the trip and with a bus passing by approximately every 30 minutes from early in the morning until just before Midnight. BART times are less frequent on weekends and evenings, but are generally about every 10 minutes during the weekday, taking about 15 minutes travel time from Oakland to downtown SF, and running from about 4am until just about Midnight. Thus it takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour to travel to or from San Francisco and the apartment, by public transit. The AC 20 Transit line mentioned above runs through the two main shopping districts on the island, as well as past the shopping mall, located 1/2 mile to the East of my apartment along Shoreline. Guests with cars will need to park on the street, which is generally fairly easy to do provided you are willing to walk about one block, as parking immediately next to the apartment is limited. Check street signs! There is an Alameda Taxi service, and both Lyft and Uber also run here ~ these are online services where people rent their cars as taxis, and are generally more affordable than a taxi but you must have downloaded the relevant smartphone app AND set up an account in advance to use them. 3.5 miles and/or a 40 minute walk+bus ride away from the apartment is the Alameda Ferry terminal, with service to San Francisco, Oakland, and other destinations throughout the Bay Area. The ferry offers free parking at the terminal, and is a perfect way to get a better taste of the Bay Area than simply driving around by car. SF is a town you can walk through, so consider taking the ferry to it if you are sightseeing. More info on getting around Alameda or throughout the Bay Area can be found through the Bay Area's 511 website. It can calculate ANY form of transportation for you around the San Francisco Bay Area. Other Things to NoteSoap and shampoo provided. I do not make your bed each day, as this is not a hotel. I keep the apartment clean and neat, and the apartment is thoroughly cleaned professionally once every two weeks. There is an MP3 hookup for playing music on the living room stereo, and our wireless internet is, as one guest put it, "insanely fast". Send me a message if you have any other questions. A guidebook of local attractions, restaurants and amenities (wash n fold, etc) is available upon your arrival.

The SpaceThis is a beautiful Victorian home in a historic block of one of the Bay Area's nicest and most beautiful cities: Alameda. The location is incredible. There is a grocery store down the street, the beach is a few blocks away and there is a large shopping mall about two miles away. Guest AccessKitchen, both bathrooms, living room/office, WiFi, printer/scanner, washer/dryer, spacious back yard, side yard. Interaction with GuestsI will be around the house most of the day doing repairs or studying so you may ask me questions or make requests at just about any time you like. I am open to giving rides to the Oakland Airport and BART for $15 if I am available. The NeighborhoodBeautiful parks and colorful Victorian houses. Friendly people with easy access to stores, downtown, groceries. San Francisco can be reached through the public transit system or a 30 minute drive. Oakland Airport is 10 minutes away. Getting AroundThis house is one block from the bus stop. The O bus runs every half hour during commute time and every hour during non-commute hours from 6:40AM to 10:40PM. The O East bus can take you to the Fruitvale BART train station in around 10 minutes. The BART train can then take you all over the Bay Area. The O West bus can take you directly to San Francisco in 40 minutes. There is plenty of free street parking. Other Things to NoteI may doing repairs or maintenance in the yard. The SpaceCharming 1891 Victorian a block from downtown Alameda: fully restored movie theater, restaurants, coffee shops, book stores, etc. It's also blocks from a shopping center and our two-mile-long beach, which looks out across the Bay to San Francisco. This is a two-story home with an updated kitchen with vintage stove, dining room and living room on the bottom floor, and bedrooms on the top floor. Three bedrooms -- one set up for two little girls (not babies) with a queen bed on the bottom and a twin bed on top, one room with a double, and one bedroom with a queen bed. Large back yard. Two bathrooms, one with a clawfoot tub, one with a shower. City access is easy via AC Transit buses, ferry, or car. Guest AccessThe entire house is available. Interaction with GuestsI'll be out of town while you're here, but have a handyman on call. The NeighborhoodPark Street in Alameda is just two blocks away, and offers dining, a movie theater, book stores, coffee shops, ice cream shops, etc. A bit further is Southshore mall, with grocery stores, clothing stores, and more restaurants. Southshore is located on the two-mile stretch of Alameda beach, with views of the bay and of San Francisco. On summer weekends, you can rent bikes and beach chairs there, and find food trucks. It's a lovely town. Getting AroundThe Alameda Ferry offers service to Oakland and San Francisco. The BART train is just off the island and offers a way to get into the city without driving, however AC Transit is generally a better option because the buses are nicer than the train, and you can catch them on the island. Driving into the city is also an option, and if you have 3 or more people in your car, you can use the carpool lane across the Bay Bridge during busy hours. Other Things to NoteThe garden will be automatically watered, so you don't need to worry about that. The cats should not need any care. They have large bowls of food and water, and the cat litter box cleans itself automatically 10 minutes after the cat uses it. If it smells bad, you can make it run by pushing the button furthest to the right. If there are any problems with it, please contact me. PLEASE DO NOT LET THE CATS OUTSIDE EVER.

The SpaceThis is the upstairs half of an updated Victorian duplex located in a quiet neighborhood, so glorious light and high ceilings are what's in store! Our flat is filled with beautiful original art with karastan rugs on the hardwood floors to add that touch of warmth. The beds are super comfy with high quality mattresses for a great nights sleep--so you have plenty of energy for work or to explore while you are here. High ceilings, original fixtures and period details, a super deep jetted soaker tub in the bath, and every chef's dream kitchen makes this a fabulous retreat for short or long term. It's easy to whip up dinner for 10 in this well equipped kitchen that overlooks the rear garden--or a quick breakfast with fresh coffee or tea to enjoy out in the sunny and peaceful courtyard. Luxury linens cover the beds, accompanied by fat down duvets and pillows (with extra linens for the queen pull out in the living room/library). King bed in the master bedroom, along with a flat screen tv/dvd combo and a comfy deep chair to read in. Beautiful extra long twin bed in the small second sunny bedroom is the perfect bed for an adult or a child. All of the closets and dressers are empty and available for your personal belongings. Spa bath boasts a deep jetted soaker tub to relax in with a glass of wine, as well as a separate shower. Thirsty towels and two robes that are perfect for lounging on weekends are included. Wifi, internet, cable tv, dvd player, Netflix, and the living room/library includes plenty of books as well as some classic board games and cards to enjoy while you are here. Internet and wifi are fast. Laundry + garden shared with downstairs flat. Private off street parking for one car. We are rather clean freaks, and the flat is fully cleaned before each guest arrives. We have our cleaner come in, and we personally wash the linens and bedding and make up the beds to make sure everything is clean and crisp and just the way we would want it! The gorgeously mature rear garden includes a gas grill for a nice and chill weekend bbq, patio heaters, adirondack chairs, citrus trees, and pots of fresh herbs to add to that culinary masterpiece called an omelet. It's also the perfect place for you and your laptop getting some work done during the day. A table with umbrella and comfy chairs to work in. Wifi works great, and it's quiet enough to hear yourself think. Our safe neighborhood has plenty of street parking, large and mature trees, and is five blocks from the beach (hello perfect morning walk) and six blocks from groceries, coffee shops, restaurants galore, post office and drugstore, as well as several parks. Regular bus line is three blocks, bus to downtown SF is also three blocks (they say 20 minutes), BART is close, g+ bus is five blocks, and the ferry to SF makes it fun and easy to check out the city while you are here--or stay on the island and go back and forth for that conference you are in town for. The Oakland hills that are across the freeway let you get close up and personal with towering redwood filled forests and amazing hiking trails that are off the beaten path. Cool bars and restaurants are very close, as is yoga, pilates, and the best fresh made ice cream in the area (Tucker's--usually has a line). Lots of super cute neighborhoods to explore with your dog--and make sure to check out all the wonderful gardens you pass on the way. (I am a gardener, what can say?) Oakland Airport is ten minutes by car, SFO is 40 minutes by BART train. The bus that's 3 blocks away goes directly to BART as well, so it's easy to use BART for Oakland or SFO. We are close enough to Silicon Valley to commute via the new bus that goes directly to g+ headquarters. We have put together a fat binder filled with all the fun things to check out, from all the award winning local wineries to the huge art + antique fair on the first Sunday of the month (Grandpa and I saw Diane Keaton there last year), hiking, dog walks, day trips, our fave local hangouts, as well as suggestions for what to check out during your stay. LONG TERM OR DOGS: We do rent by the week and month, and we accept long term rentals for several months up to a year as well. For long term rentals, there is a security deposit of $1000, as well as a pet deposit of $595 if you are bringing your dog along for the fun. When you are inquiring, please let us know if you are bringing along your pet or planning on long term so we can make sure to include the security deposit or the pet deposit in your fee. PLEASE NOTE: 1) This is not a flat that is appropriate for young children because of the two staircases. If you have a child under the age of 8 or so, we will have to regretfully decline your booking. Sorry about that, and safety first! 2) YES we are indeed dog friendly (for MOST dogs, please check with us to make sure your dog qualifies), so if you are bringing along your dog, please let us know as there is a pet deposit of $595. As well, we have a pet kit for you--water and food bowls, snacks, etc, to make your furry family member feel at home. PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY: your dog is NOT allowed on any of the furniture EVER, including beds, couches, chairs, stools, ottomans, etc. If your dog is on the furniture, we must have it professionally cleaned, which means that we will be charging you for that cleaning, which quite typically runs at least $450 if not more. Please understand that we want to be able to continue allowing dogs and their people to stay in a great place like this, and other guests expect to sit on the couch or bed or whatever and find it clean and free of dog hair or dog smell or dog whatever! So be cool and make sure your dog follows the rules and all will be great. Please read the house rules regarding dogs--the deposit and what we expect of you as a good dog owner (poop pickup in the rear garden, etc) and what we expect of your dog as well! 3) NO SMOKING anywhere on the property--either indoors or out. 4) CHECK IN is 5pm or after, CHECK OUT is 11am. 5) Please bring your photo id as we will check it. 6) If you are considering our flat, please complete and verify your profile. We are more comfortable hosting new people in our flat when we know more about you. So please tell us a little about yourself and the reason for your visit. Also, our flat remains available until you or someone else reserves it with airbnb by submitting a formal reservation through the site. Thanks in advance and we look forward to meeting you soon!

The SpaceVery nice breakfast. Also, the space is two bedrooms [not ONE ] that enjoin either side of a shared (Jack & Jill) bathroom. Each of the two bedrooms has a single full bed, each of which accommodates up to two sleepers. It is a perfect arrangement for a small family or a group of close friends traveling together. Guest AccessGuest Access Alameda is a small island town in San Francisco Bay across the estuary from Oakland. It is an attraction in its own right with many very nice stores, shops, restaurants and parks within the bustling, cosmopolitan San Francisco metropolitan area. Yet Alameda is only 15 minutes from downtown San Francisco by auto or BART train, and centrally located on the freeway system for ease of access to such attractions as the Napa/Sonoma Counties wine country, picturesque Marin County and the Muir Woods national monument, the Pacific Ocean beaches, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, San Francisco and its many attractions, e.g. the DeYoung Museum, the Asian Art Museum, the SOMA Museum of Art, Academy of Sciences, AT&T Park (S.F. Giants Interaction with GuestsWe have always experienced a very pleasurable interaction with our guests - at check-in, during their comings and goings, and at check-out. The NeighborhoodEveryone comments about the small town atmosphere of our island community. Yet, surprisingly, we are but 15 minutes by car, ferry or BART from metropolitan San Francisco. Patrick particularly enjoys comparing Alameda to some of the small, tree-shaded towns surrounding his boyhood home town of South Bend, Indiana. Getting AroundThe 31 AC Transit bus drops you three blocks from our house; the same 31 bus, in-bound, drops you at BART's 12th Street station in Oakland. That said, we usually have time to give you a free shuttle to the 12th Street BART station in downtown Oakland. Also, the ferry to the iconic San Francisco Ferry building on the San Francisco Embarcadero is easy walking distance from our house. Also, we are easy walking distance from the new Alameda Landing Shopping district, and, Alameda's historic Webster Street. Also, we are walking distance from attractions on the former Alameda Naval Air Station such as the Rockwall Winery, St. George Spirits and the hugely attractive Alameda Point Antiques Faire. We have excellent, easy parking on the street next to our house for guests who come by automobile. Other Things to NoteEvenings, when our guests arrive back from their Bay Area outings, we have frequently suggested "Dutch treat" ordering of a take- out meal from a local restaurant of their choice. This has proven to be a very enjoyable way of relaxing, unwinding from the stresses of the day, and becoming better acquainted.

The SpaceOur home is a cozy, two-bedroom/one bath which maintains the original character of the 100-year-old home but is remodeled with all modern amenities. Our beautiful California Bay Area weather is perfect year-round and makes our lovely little backyard (with outdoor living space, garden, BBQ, and hot tub) an extension of the living space. Our family loves technology, so the home is equipped with high speed internet, computers, video games for the kids, and a flat screen TV in the living room with all the internet TV and movies you can watch. We love family time at home, so our home has a small library along with comfy reading nooks and large, amazingly comfortable beds (a California King in the master bedroom and a Queen size in the second bedroom). Bicycles (kids and adults) are also available for your use in getting around our little town. We are located on an island in the San Francisco Bay with easy access to San Francisco. The island itself is very walking and biking-friendly and our home is located only 1/2 mile from the main "downtown" area with shops and every type of dining imaginable, or 1/2 mile from the beach. Our home is on a quiet, family-friendly street adjacent to a cul-de-sac with a tree swing and safe street where kids frequently play, but you are also within easy distance of all the excitement of San Francisco. The city can be accessed by two ferry stations on the island, public transit (bus or Bay Area Rapid Transit), or freeway. Guest AccessEverything inside the home and backyard. Interaction with GuestsHappy to help give advice on transportation to/from the home and our favorite places to eat and shop in town by email before your visit. You have your own room, and the rest of the apartment is shared space, with either your host and/or other guests staying here. A stay at the Green Dragon Guest House includes breakfast "essentials" such as coffee, whole milk, bread, jam, butter and eggs, provided for your use (and your own cooking). Guest AccessYour room is tastefully furnished with a queen sized bed, small desk with a view of the bay and beach, mp3 stereo system, and a closet with dresser. Guests have their own sink, and share the rest of the bathroom with your host or other guests. You have full access to the fully stocked kitchen (you provide your own groceries, of course, by stocked I mean pots, pans, dishes, utensils, spices, condiments, oils, etc.), plus the shared (with me) living and dining room spaces that offer a 54" flatscreen with TiVO DVR and HBO, leather couch, and dining for up to six around the table. As mentioned in "The Space" section above, breakfast "essentials" are offered for your enjoyment (and your own cooking). As a Bay Area resident since I was nine years of age, I know a bit about this place, and as such my guidebook contains four "tours" of certain key areas of the Bay Area. This assists my tourist guests in getting the maximum enjoyment out of their vacation here without having to figure out the best places to go and see all on their own. Along those same lines, as their are many bridges throughout the Bay Area -- and further as most rental car companies I have found charge an arm and a leg for this same thing -- I offer (entirely optional) use of a toll tag for my guests, to drive through the toll plazas without having to stop and pay cash. If you use the toll tag, I then charge you for the tolls you accrued during your stay (plus a modest additional service fee of $6 for your making use of this service). Interaction with GuestsI am generally, but not always, present at the guest house during your stay. Oftentimes during the day I am working quietly in my office space, which adjoins and is open to the living room space. Guests who stay here can also receive a FREE 30-minute reading from me **upon request** of me, provided I am in residence and we can find a mutually agreed upon time to do the reading (a $75 value). It is a sweet and fun way to get to know each other a little better. Linens changed weekly upon request. I do not make your bed each day, this is not a hotel. I keep the apartment clean and neat, and the apartment is thoroughly cleaned professionally once every two weeks. There is an MP3 hookup for playing music on the living room stereo, and our wireless internet is, as one guest put it, "insanely fast". Send me a message if you have any other questions.
