The SpaceThis small community located in the San Bernadino National Forest is unique in that everything southern California has to offer is within about an hour to hour 1/2 drive such as Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, Big Bear, Los Angeles, and southern California beaches. If you would like to stay in the mountains, the house is located off the beaten path with hiking trails and a creek behind the house. The quaint town of Redlands is just 20 minutes down the hill. Redlands offers some great local bars, trader joes, restaurants, breweries and events. The house is a shared living space although sometimes I am not here. Almost every piece of furniture in the house has a story making the space eclectic and homey. Dogs are welcome with approval. I have a pound pup Vivian who is friendly and gets along with visitors. Vivian and I are low key and just want to make your visit as comfortable as possible. We look forward to meeting you! Guest AccessGuests have access to Wifi, Netflix, Hbo go movies, Deck, Kitchen, and Bathroom. Basically mi casa es su casa. Interaction with GuestsShared living space. I love to hosting visitors to the southern California area. If you need a tour guide I can help, but if you just want to relax I will stay out of your way. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is peaceful, quaint, quiet and safe. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation around here. I can offer rides when available. Other Things to NoteThe drive here is relatively easy. You will be in the mountains without the curvy mountain drive. It can get cold in the winter, but I am usually just below the snow line. If you plan on visiting Big Bear in the winter make sure to check the weather to see if you are going to need chains.

The SpaceThere are absolutely NO DOGS, PETS, SERVICE ANIMALS, or anything other than human beings allowed. No exceptions. Please don't ask. And of course, don't smoke anything inside. Now that this is out of the way....This is a "super cute cabin", at least that's how friends usually describe it. Park your car and stay put for the weekend. You can walk to the village center and enjoy our only restaurant which often has live music. Definitely every Friday and Saturday. Often on Sundays as well. If you play acoustic, and have your instrument, you could just ask and they'll probably let you play if no one else is. Cute little galleries and shops but the area is famous for it's forest hikes to the local waterfall. If you're coming in the Summer to get out of the heat, the Autumn to enjoy the fall colors, or the winter for a snowy adventure, you'll have a nice and relaxing time. Perfect place to unwind, write your book, or just get away from the hustle and bustle. It's a "tiny house" with 446 sqft of coziness. I love this place and hope you do as well. It's worth knowing that this is an area that can get hit with massive snow storms. Please be prepared. If you have a 4x4/AWD, it might be best to bring that. You will definitely need to carry chains with any vehicle. And unfortunately I will not be able to give you a refund if you can't get to the cabin unless the road. Guest AccessYou can access everything. I leave food in the cabinet and frig. If you want to eat some, please replace it with some random thing that you think another guest might like. That goes for the beer too. I love beer and look forward to sharing my brews with you and seeing what you might leave. "Feel free to help yourself to a beer when you arrive!" My treat as a "Welcome to Your Cabin" gift. You can drink additional beer but please replace it with at least as many of any type you like. Interaction with GuestsIf you need anything or have any concerns about anything at all, send me a note, and I'll respond right away. I do not live there so you have the place to yourself. The NeighborhoodThe location of this cabin is unique in that many others are downtown which is convenient in some ways but you are also downtown. Our place is about 3-4 blocks from the village center but not on the main road. If you like to be somewhat more remote, this is a great place. Close enough to walk to town and far enough away to remind you that you're not in the Valley anymore. Please be respectful of the neighbors and keep things quiet and peaceful. The sound of closing car doors and trunks carries pretty far up there and is much louder than you might imagine especially when compared to living down in the cities. Sounds really travel up there and all of us who live there do our best to be respectful of each other. Getting AroundHere's the deal about local stuff to do: Walking to the village is so convenient and enjoyable. A short drive up the road will take you to the trailhead for the Waterfall hike. We like just walking in to the village to hear the live music at the local restaurant "El Mex" as the locals call it. Just know that they close early. They also serve breakfast. The little general store has a great selection of beer and has just about everything that you'll need. Coyote Unlimited and Jessica's Treasures are local artisan gift shops. If you stop in, tell them MG sent you! If you are into off-roading, there's a ranger station just down the hill. They'll give you a map of local 'roads' (trails more likely) to explore. Big Bear is about an hour up the mountain a piece if you feel the need to drive. If you like beer, like I do, you're in the right area. Hanger 24 is very close located in an old airplane hanger at a nearly abandoned airport. Hanger has a good selection and is known for their Betty IPA and Orange Wheat but they also have a solid selection of others. Additionally, Ritual Brewing is worth a taste. If you are a fan of Reds, Ritual offers their famous Red on both regular carbonation and on Nitrogen as well!! They also have a solid selection of Belgian's. If you are in town on Thursday evening, definitely check out State Street in Redlands. They have a weekly street fair from 6-9pm. Definitely a cool place. Friday's Yucaipa has a smaller version which is fun as well. It's located in Uptown in the antique/vintage store district. Drop me a note if you want more info. Other Things to NoteThis is an area where snow can be a hindrance or a cause for celebration. Clearly everyone who books up here knows this but as a reminder, there are no refunds because of weather. This is bear country, as is all of the San Bernardino National Forest including Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, etc. That said, don't leave food outside and definitely don't throw food products outside thinking that it's ok because it's bio-degradable. I haven't seen any bears nearby but they are well known up there...and anywhere in the forest. Same goes for your car. It's just not wise to tempt our furry friends. Not really anything to worry about but it's just best to know the deal if you don't live in the mountains. You'll enjoy the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. NO DOGS!!! No cats, no birds, no service animals, no creatures other than human beings. Please don't even ask for an exception. Of course there is no smoking inside the cabin. It is best to not even smoke outside as this is such a fire sensitive area. Here are some details regarding the weather and getting up there and out of there...especially in the snow. As with any cabin in the mountains, snow can come in unexpectedly. It is recommended that you carry tire chains/cables and drive an AWD/4x4 anytime that you come to the snow whether it be my cabin or anywhere else on the mountain. Many guests love the fact that there might be snow and come for that reason. I cannot offer refunds based on the weather or your ability to get up here. You'll also need to be prepared to leave as well. As much fun as it is to get "snowed in", there may very well be a guest waiting to arrive. I'm always happy to extend stays but you would need to verify that the extra time is available on the AirBnB website. That said, have fun if it does snow!!! This is one of the only fully "permitted and licensed" rental units in Forest Falls (required by the County of San Bernardino) so sleep well knowing that you are in a legal short-term rental. :-)
