The SpaceFrom multiple windows looking south and west the rooms are full of natural light. Completely self-contained this apartment has all the amenities. But it's the original paintings on the walls that make this place unique. They will enliven your stay and make it distinctly more enjoyable. And by the way if you happen to fall in love with one of them during your stay, you may even be able to purchase it. The guest handbook contains prices and a statement by the painter. Guest AccessThere is a laundry on the site. Interaction with GuestsInteraction with owner, who lives on the premises, is optional. The NeighborhoodCalled the Eastside, this residential neighborhood is a mix of architectural styles, and thus reflective of Arcata's history. It is fun to walk or bike, and interesting to explore. Humboldt State University is a few blocks down Union Street, and students are about most days. Other Things to NoteThe house is located at the end of a private driveway and is not visited by street traffic.

The SpaceThe 350 square foot cottage has a studio layout and includes a washer and dryer, a reverse osmosis drinking water filtration system and a filter-type coffee maker (filters, non-dairy creamer and locally-roasted coffee are provided). This unique cottage, with its comfy queen bed, started life many decades ago as a small barn. I finished a three-year rebuild from the ground up in 2007 to convert the barn to the present day eco-cottage. All the original old-growth redwood was reused. Non-toxic sealer was used on exposed redwood wall studs, and sheetrock wall panels, set between wall studs, were coated in zero-VOC paint. The result is a clean, super-insulated, solar eco-cottage. South-facing windows look out at the organic food garden and greenhouse (greenhouse currently under construction), and the open-beam ceiling creates an expansive feel. Two skylights provide nurturing, natural light. It's a very peaceful hideaway. Power for the cottage is supplied by a grid-intertied solar photovoltaic system, and hot water comes from solar thermal collectors on the roof. There is a gas-powered, on-demand (tankless) water heater for backup, so you never run out of hot water. Room heat is supplied by a hydronic floor, which is barefoot-toasty on cold days. The kitchen is fully equipped with coffee maker and coffee, and includes a reverse osmosis drinking water filter. The pillow-top bed comes with organic cotton sheets, and the bathroom has a claw foot tub with filtered bath water. The tub is excellent for taking a luxurious bath or a european-style "sit-down" shower. Note: We are building a greenhouse across the yard from the cottage, so there are construction materials taking up part of the garden. Although we are in the city, this is a country cottage, so, depending on the time of year you may encounter cob webs, fallen apples or overgrown vegetation. Nightly rate includes cleaning fee, bed tax and wireless internet. The cottage is set up for two guests, but additional guests might be possible and will be considered on a case by case basis with approval prior to booking. Guest AccessGuests have access to the cottage and their own little yard with a small brick patio with two chairs and a table. A portion of the cottage yard is taken up by a greenhouse construction project. The cottage is in the back yard and is separated from the main house by a garage and garden area. The main house is inhabited by working people who are folk musicians in their thirties and who are very mellow and quiet. I live onsite in a tiny house across the yard from the Eco-Cottage and am also very quiet. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as they want. I love talking with new people and giving tips on restaurants and attractions. The folks in the main house are also very friendly and engaging whenever paths cross, and the default is that everyone respects the guest's privacy. I leave it up to the guests as to how much they want to interact. The NeighborhoodThis is the original Humboldt State University neighborhood, perched slightly above town and initially called the Spring Hill Subdivision due to the many springs on the hill. It is unknown when the barn that later became the eco-cottage was originally built, but the main house (our house) was built in 1906. The neighborhood is a mix of victorian and craftsman houses sprinkled with more recently constructed suburban-style homes that are generally well maintained. Getting AroundThe Eco-Cottage is within walking distance to downtown and it's many restaurants and shops. The local bus stop is 6 blocks away, and there is an intermodal transit facility that includes Amtrak and Greyhound service less than a mile away. There are several taxi companies as well as airport shuttles. The Arcata Airport (ACV) is about a 10 minute drive. Other Things to NoteFor your convenience, the kitchen includes a coffee maker & coffee (most often there is almond milk or some type of creamer in the fridge - if you like a particular kind you might want to stop and grab some on the way), organic tea, organic virgin coconut oil, salt, pepper and a few other cooking spices. There is a TV with DVD player and a selection of interesting DVDs, but no cable. The TV gets zero channels and only plays DVDs. There are playing cards and board games in a drawer, so you won't get bored! :-)

The SpaceThis is a pretty and private garden hideaway which comfortably accommodates one or two people. The space has a lovely tile bathroom, with a soaking tub and a double shower built for sharing. Inside you have a well equipped kitchenette, which tidies away behind closed doors, or you can barbeque outside in the garden patio area. This studio comprises part of a larger high end residence, but is fully self contained with it's own private entrance and a designated parking space. The house is located in a quiet semi-rural neighborhood overlooking Humboldt Bay, two miles from the Arcata plaza and Humboldt State University, and seven miles from downtown Eureka. Wireless internet. Well equipped kitchenette - fridge/freezer, microwave, hot plate, toaster, toaster oven, electric kettle, cookware/dishware. Gas barbeque with side burner. Linens, bedding, bathrobes. Organic coffee/tea and breakfast items provided. The apartment is near the front of the property for easy coming and going, but come around back for terrific sunsets, chicken visiting, or to sit around a warming fire in the fire pit. Bella is readily available to orient guests to the local area. As long term Humboldt County residents that enjoy a good adventure, we're delighted to share local tips about places to hike, bike, surf and explore. That said, we like to let guests lead the way as to whether they prefer more or less contact, so if you're here for a little solitude or a romantic getaway, the studio is well situated for that and we're happy to give you all the space you need. Bayside is a sweet neighborhood with a semi-rural feel, just two miles from downtown Arcata and Humboldt State University. The property has panoramic views over Humboldt Bay and marsh areas that are part of the Pacific flyway for many kinds of migratory birds. Depending on the season, the sound of cows in the fields is complemented by the sounds of thousands of wild geese coming and going; frogs chorusing; coyotes yipping. There is a delightful coffee house at the corner, or head into Arcata or Eureka to find a nice range of local restaurants. The closest supermarket is a mile away, but venture a mile further to find two remarkably well stocked natural foods supermarkets in downtown Arcata. Alternatively, stock up at one of the many local farmers markets - especially Saturdays on the Arcata Plaza - which offer great local produce and fun people watching. We also have an organic community farm with farm stand about a 1/4 mile down the road. If you're up for an adventure, you can hike and mountain bike (even horse ride) to your heart's content along miles of trails in the the Arcata community forest (2350 acres) or stay on flatter ground in the Arcata Bottoms and along the Hammond Trail. A little further afield, explore majestic old growth redwood forests and beautiful seascapes among the many stunning National and State Parks that Humboldt and Del Norte counties have on offer. Enjoy the temperate coastal weather or head a little inland for some serious sun and great river swimming. In fact, there are a terrific range of scenic rivers to be found in all directions, offering swimming, rafting and paddling opportunities for all skill levels. Twenty minutes north is the picturesque fishing village of Trinidad with beautiful rocky coves and beaches to explore plus regular sightings of seals, sea lions and whales (in season). Kayak the myriad lagoons and sloughs in the area to get up close and personal with birds, otters and elk. For a more cosmopolitan adventure, Eureka and Ferndale are brimming with gorgeous Victorian architecture; enjoy the evening Art walks held monthly in a range of local towns; or check out the local theatre, music and other performing arts offerings. The studio has a designated parking space for a one vehicle. We are a short pedal off Highway 101 if you're arriving by bike. If you are vehicle free, we are approx. 35 min walk to the heart of Arcata and local Transit Center (one mile to the closest local bus stop). For those arriving by plane, you can arrange ahead of time for the local shuttle to pick you up (about $22 plus $5 for extra person). You can also call a taxi (about $30) but they don't take advance bookings so the wait can be long at times. Guest pricing includes 12% City of Arcata Transient Occupancy Tax. Interaction with GuestsBella and Don have lived at this house for the last 13 years, but we have recently moved into the middle of Arcata to fix up a dilapidated but very worthwhile Victorian project house. Other people do live in the house - all professional adults at this point in time. That said, we do still manage the studio ourselves and are frequently at the property. I am also generally available to meet guests on arrival, if you would like some in-person orientation to the local area. Otherwise, I always leave a map with local restaurant and supermarket suggestions as well as general visitor information. If you are vehicle free, we are approx. 35 min walk to the heart of Arcata and local Transit Center (one mile to the closest local bus stop). Also, if you have a thing about ever seeing an ant inside, this may not be the space for you. This neighborhood does have tiny black ants about and it's an unusual house that is tight enough to exclude them completely. So sometimes you may encounter the odd small black ant wandering about looking to bump into something tasty (apparently they don't smell well so they just wander instead). Some times of the year they are more likely to find their way inside than others - after a big rainstorm for instance - and they may get excited and tell their friends if they bump into food you've left laying about overnight. We have canvassed this issue with guests, and the general consensus seems strongly in favor a non-chemical response to the occasional-ant-management issue. In line with providing largely organic breakfast supplies, and using earth and people sensitive cleaning products, we also choose to not use bug spray and insecticides inside the space to chase off the odd ant. We know that ants pre-date us in the neighborhood, and will no doubt also post-date us, so we opt to simply wipe up the occasional ant that wanders by rather than going the route of chemical 'fixes'. We hope you appreciate our efforts to provide a healthy environment for your visit, but we understand that if seeing an occasional ant causes you consternation, you may choose an alternative location. We do have other reliable never-an-indoor-ant options available.

The SpaceThis is the only downstairs bedroom in the house. It is my son's room which he stays in once or twice a month. You'll see his toys on the shelf. The room gets great sun and has a lovely view of the garden. You'll be within walking distance to Humboldt State and an easy bike ride to downtown. Guest AccessDepending on how many people are in the house you'll share a bathroom with up to 2 other people. I use a different bathroom and the upstairs folks have access to a half bathroom, so there isn't ever really a line for the bathroom. You'll have some access to kitchen space, and get wi-fi. Kitchen utensils available for guest access are in the drawers and cabinets that are labeled by their contents. Interaction with GuestsDepending on whether the university is in session, people living in the house are myself and one or two other people. They may be male or female. We each keep to ourselves. I will be available to check you in usually between 4-6pm and check you out at 9:30am, unless other arrangements are made. The NeighborhoodHumboldt County has a lot of interesting things to see and do. (website hidden) "Points of Interest in Humboldt County" and "101 Things to Do in Humboldt County" My home is located in a residential area that is within a 20 minute walk from Humboldt State University campus and a 20- 30 minute walk to downtown. In the other direction it is quite rural populated by cows that graze in the field next door. Soon the nearby trail will be connected with the trails in the Arcata Community Forest. There is a bus stop outside my house and there is a park across the way and a grocery store within a couple of blocks. Mad River Beach is a short drive away (or bike ride), as well as a great river spot along the Mad River. There are many things to do in Arcata, such as the farmer's market on the plaza Saturday mornings from late April until November, visiting the many local restaurants such as Los Bagels and Luke's Joint. The Arcata Scoop is a favorite for local organic ice cream. There are also local products, breweries and factories to visit. Holly Yashi, Cypress Grove Chevre, and Mad River Brewing Company are among my favorites. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop outside my house and downtown is a convenient 10-15 minute bike ride or 20-30 minute walk. Other Things to NoteDue to my hectic schedule I can't offer any food service at this time, but you are welcomed to a small space in my fridge. I'll show you where the pans and dishes are if you want to cook, but please clean up after yourself. Parking on the street is free.

The SpaceWe have a sunny, private room in our home in the beautiful Arcata bottoms. We're just a mile from downtown, HSU, and the Arcata Community Forest. We're both young, active, friendly professionals. Our home is very spacious, with two living rooms, a large backyard, and a garage. Lots of places to relax and enjoy the (hopefully) sunny weather! The room for rent has a south-facing window and a double bed with memory foam mattress topper, and new pillows. Can fit TWO people comfortably. Guests are welcome to use the home as their own, including the kitchen and lovely backyard. We also have a washer and dryer that could be used during extended stays. The bathroom is shared with the hosts. We treat our guests as temporary roommates. We'd love to give you any information about things to do locally. Sometimes we end up sharing a meal together, maybe we'll just cross paths in the morning during breakfast, but we're always friendly and happy to have you! Coffee or tea is available in the morning upon request. Our neighborhood is friendly, and pretty quiet. We're just an easy mile walk or drive from the downtown Arcata Plaza, where there is plenty to do during the day and night. The Arcata Community Forest and Arcata Marsh are also within about a mile from the house, for some light hiking. Humboldt County has tons to offer, although most sights and activities must be accessed via car. We're happy to give recommendations and directions! The bus runs into town two blocks from our house. The SpaceThe "perfect little place to stay in Arcata" is now an award-winning place to stay as well... The Historic Design and Review Commission of our fair city, gave us a design award for our storybook style home, noting the "...outstanding level of craftsmanship and artful detailing..." As longtime design/builders of handcrafted homes,we are honored and happy about the recognition. And we're glad to be able to share our place with guests who are looking for something a little out of the ordinary. What guests will find, attached to the larger home: A new, friendly, private apartment, with its own brick-walled, terrace entry, 1 separate bedroom, 1 bath, an open kitchen and living room. In other words, it's a cozy apt, but not a studio. Completely furnished ...you'll discover an easy place to stay and enjoy feeling 'like a local' in Arcata. It's so charming, you could call it a "pied-`a-terre"...French for 'foot on the ground' or a lodging for a short time. Just a few blocks walk to the HSU university campus or the village plaza. Arcata is filled with cafes, artful shops, theaters, interesting, above-average groceries/delis,bakeries and a farmer's market. The famous Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Refuge and the Arcata Redwood Community Forest are just minutes from the apt. Easy day-trip driving or biking distances to the redwoods, rivers, and scenic coast. Fully equipped kitchen, w/dishwasher, gas oven/stove and microwave. Plush queen bed, 2 twin sofa beds, slate-tiled shower, all linens and towels provided. Wi-Fi, flat screen tv/dvd, and a selection of movies, books and games. Pick up some locally-made Cypress Grove chevre and fresh-baked bread from one of the nearby bakeries. Make a salad with greens from the kitchen garden. Have a glass of wine in the private, brick-walled garden terrace and pretend you are in Paris. There is plenty of free parking on the street in front of our house. There is free security-protected wireless internet on the entire property as well. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the other house on the property and are there on and off all year. We love to travel and go backpacking and are often off doing those things. When at the property, we typically welcome the guests to the house and are available to answer questions throughout the guest's stay. We often are working or playing on the property and usually interact with our guests during those less formal times. The NeighborhoodSunnybrea, our neighborhood in Arcata, is a fantastic place. We are a five-minute walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores in the neighborhood and a 20-minute walk to downtown Arcata. Of course, biking or driving to these places only takes a few minutes! Humboldt State University is just up the hill from here as well, only a few minutes away. The trailhead to the hiking and biking trails of the Sunnybrea Redwood Forest are a 5-minute walk from our front door. Into bird-watching? The Arcata Marsh bird-watching area is a 5-minute drive from the house. The Pacific Ocean is less than a 10-minute drive from the house and there are dozens of public access points to enjoy the beach from. Getting AroundThere is a bus station at the end of our street for the local bus system, the Arcata and Mad River Transit System (AMRTS). Schedules can be found at (URL HIDDEN) Biking is super easy around Arcata and very popular. Restaurants, coffee shops, and stores are just a few minutes away by bike. Of course driving a vehicle around Arcata is super easy, in addition to free parking at our house, there are plenty of safe and free parking options around Arcata when out and about.

The SpaceThis is a gem. An exquisite old-rose garden cascades in front of your 11 foot, floor-to-ceiling bow window in the master bedroom. A wall of French doors opens onto a large deck that's perfect for catching the sun or sipping wine. Enjoy the outdoor shower and cedar soaking tub. Quiet. Off the street, but right in the middle of charming downtown Arcata. Stroll two blocks to the Humboldt State University campus. The Redwood Community Forest is around the corner and you can explore beneath the ancient old-growth redwoods. Check out Arcata's bustling small-town plaza with a local artists' gallery, Saturday Farmers' market, unbeatable French cafe and great restaurants featuring local, organic cuisine. And, by the way, we're a short drive to the ocean and miles of deserted beaches, too. Sound like a relaxing hide away? You have found THE magic spot. This home is behind a locked gate. It's has a fully fenced yard and a washer/drier. Wi-Fi. No TV. It has a queen bed in the master plus a twin mattress in the master nook that can sleep one. The nook is special. You're right in the roses! There is a guest room with a queen bed. There is one full bath inside the house, plus the very private outdoor shower by the Japanese soaking tub. We welcome you. Peace, quiet and pure relaxation can be yours here on the North Coast. PARKING: There is not a drive way. There is only 4 hour parking M-F between 9am and 5pm when HSU is in session. You can’t park for longer than 4 hours. Move your car before 4 hours just enough so that the chalk mark on the tire doesn't show anymore to the parking patrol. After 5 pm on Friday and for the entire weekend (and when HSU IS NOT in session) you can park on either side of the street. This is very important during the week. Guest AccessEntire home and garden. Interaction with GuestsThere will be little to no interaction with guests, but please call if needed. There may be little to no interaction with guests, but feel free to call with questions. Our Glad to Have You App allows for self check-in and self check-out, and considerable other information. Managers are generally available during normal business hours by phone for questions. After normal business hours, only emergency calls will be returned. All non-emergency calls will be returned the following business day. Staff does monitor rentals during Quiet Hours to ensure no parties and no neighbor disturbances. We respond to all neighbor calls/complaints. Trash gets put out Sunday night by a neighbor with bins brought back in Monday, hot tub maintenance comes 2x per week, and yard and landscape workers may be on the premises at times. Management does patrol for too much traffic, parties and disturbance to neighbors. All holidays and HSU graduation weekend, No parties allowed. The NeighborhoodCampus life abounds yet this property is secluded and quiet. Getting AroundPublic transportation is a couple blocks away, but car and bike is best for exploring the area.

The SpaceWe have a bedroom and bathroom available to our guests. There is also kitchen access and guests are more than welcome to share the living room and outdoor space (our deck overlooks a beautiful pasture with view of the bay). Guest AccessPlease see above. Regarding check-in - during the school year, we are not home until after 6pm. We can let you know where the key is located and you are more than welcome to arrive any time after 2:00, but we wouldn't be able to greet you. Interaction with GuestsDepending on when you arrive and how long you are here, we are typically available for check-in (except as noted above) and to assist with information about our local area. Other than that, we pretty much stay out of your way and only spend time chatting, if that is something you are interested in. The NeighborhoodThe house is situated in a very quiet and safe neighborhood that is only about four minutes from downtown Arcata. Other Things to NoteThe house is on the corner of Margaret and Panorama. However, the front door is NOT on Margaret, so it is best to park near the back gate. You would turn onto Panorama and take an immediate left into the first driveway. The house is on the left and there is a gate that leads you to the front door. When parking, just make sure you park close enough to the fence so that others can get through. BTW - it sounds way more complicated than it is.

The SpaceThere is not a house, quite like ours (anywhere!) We do not offer an ordinary experience. So please read our listing carefully. We are not for everyone. Our house is unconventional and contains global art, such as mosaic Day of the Dead decorated skulls, mannequins, sarcophagus, etc. (however strange, most kids and visitors love it!) Aside from that... We are in walking distance to everything in downtown Arcata, and 5 minutes drive to the ocean and even less to great hiking trails through the Redwoods! Plus my house is amazing! SKYEHOUSE is a Mosaic Shangrila; and is listed as a landmark destination, for visitors to Humboldt County. Guests who have stayed here often return. Our home itself, is not large, about 2200 sq ft. But it feels larger, and you could never see everything. But remember, we aren't renting the whole house, but the large, upstairs, private suite. Which is lovely, quiet and uncluttered. LARGE Upstairs Skyelight Room. This is really more like a small separate apartment. Very private and separate from the rest of the house. It sleeps 2 in a heavenly queen bed. There is a refrigerator, private bathroom & shower, deck, quiet, books & dvd's, cable TV. Wifi and desk. *Note: we can also offer a futon, bedding, and towels for an additional 3rd guest for $15 per night, please pay on arrival) NOTE: *Please note that there is a charge of $20 (per night), Paid to us on arrival, which covers a mandatory city and county tax that we are obligated to pay. Prices include cleaning fees and organic, locally grown, sumptuous breakfast (if desired) please note: we are not gluten and diary free and breakfast MUST be requested the night before! Pet Policy: there is an additional charge for dog visitors to be paid to us, on arrival. $20. Per night, 1 dog/ $25. Per night for 2 dogs. You may not leave your pets here unattended (we have tried that, and they get very scared and lonely!) we are not a kennel. But your pets are definitely welcome! Please bring dog bedding or doggie blanket, (NO DOGS on BED, please, not even the cute little ones, cause they shed too!). Cleaning hairs off the bed is a drag. Be respectful. we will provide a doggie blanket for an additional $5. fee, if needed) Location: 1 block from Crush, a charming European restaurant/wine bar serving 30 different wines, panini, and their sister restaurant, Harvest serving Sunday brunch and marvelous creme brûlée! Locally made ice cream and cones right across the street and open late! Wildflowers Vegetarian restaurant for gluten free diets. Bitter Sweet offers fresh, homemade meat pies daily. And 2 healthy grocery Delis with soup bar and breakfast and lunch buffet, just two blocks away. Pho Hoang Vietnamese offers the most delicious coconut shrimp and great bubble tea. Renata's French Creperie, plan to stand in line weekend mornings (and well worth the wait!), Brio cafe & French bakery and weekend dinners (serving Blue Bottle coffee and out of this world pastry), Masaki Mongolian Grill, Tomo's excellent Japanese sushi, Rita's Mexican Cusine, Los Bagels lox and cream cheese everyday, Thai restaurant (with fabulous satay), great thin slice pizza from Live From New York and the list goes on and on! Arcata Theater Lounge serving dinner with their movies, events and live comedy shows, Minor theater, Richards Goat cocktail lounge, book stores, clothing stores, gift shops, outdoor stores, three grocery stores with deli's, fresh soups and salad bar, and Saturday Farmers Market with live bands. And The Finnish Hot Tubs and Sauna, surrounding a private lake, with European coffee house, hearty soups and always a cozy fire in the fireplace, just 5 blocks away! But be sure to reserve a day in advance, they are always sold out. open noon till midnight everyday. If you are coming to Arcata, we are about as centrally located as you can get! The easiest way in is through the main front door. You can bang the Tibetan gong, next to the front door, or we will give you a house key, which ever you prefer (I'd probably take the key) The entrance way and journey through the house to your room, is an adventure in itself! You will probably want to take pictures just getting to your room! The house is packed and cluttered beyond belief, but your room is spacious, uncluttered and relaxing The upstairs is almost like a separate apartment. The space affords guests total privacy; with a private bathroom & shower, flatscreen cable TV, refrigerator, skylight, and deck. You can lose yourself up there. It's like a little nest in heaven. Talk to me or not, I won't be offended. Guests are welcome to use our living room space, wi-fi downstairs, dining area and kitchen. Smokers can use either of two outside decks, with seating. We have a large back yard and dogs, goats and llamas are welcome. We have a sheepdog (Dharma) and 2 cats (Dorje, Dolma) but they don't go upstairs, ever! Hang out or don't, whatever, I'm always busy anyway, and spend most of my time in the workshop. I am also happy to make you breakfast of bagels and cream cheese, OJ, coffee, etc. But I MUST know the night before that you want to have breakfast here, so I can get it together. To avoid any unnecessary confusion, You MUST tell me the night before if you WANT breakfast, and at WHAT time. Most guests opt for a leisure morning of taking a stroll to the Plaza for a 'full Arcata experience' and enjoying one of our many great breakfast spots and cafes (we have many!) just a couple short blocks away. Directly across the street is T's restaurant and Los Bagels. Your preference. It's a tough call, because Renatas amazing Creperie is only two blocks away as is Brio Cafe & French Bakery that offers outdoor seating for people watching on the square (or if you are traveling with dogs); there is also Big Blue, The Alibi and Golden Harvest, all a couple blocks away; and you will feel the 'pulse' of Arcata itself, when you have breakfast on the Plaza, in our tiny town. Bagel Cafe across the street, natural local delicious ice cream shop, Mexican food next to that, pizza on the corner, music store, hardware store across the street, winery, European Paninni restaurants with 30 different wines (great crime brûlée!) about four doors down, juice bar, yoga center, Humboldt Brews local beer(and full menu) and live entertainment, and 4 more restaurants, all a block away! 2 blocks to the movies, Arcata Theater Lounge, Historic Minor Theatre, bookstores, shopping, clothes, gifts. Vietnamese, Japanese, Mongolian, Mexican, Thai, Vegetarian, Indian, Chinese, French Creperie restaurants, French Bakery....all within a few blocks! You can walk to absolutely everything from our house (although our house can be quite absorbing, I sometimes don't want to leave!) We are right downtown! Just a few blocks to HSU campus. We can offer you a map of 25 places to visit, sightsee and hike all within an hour and a half from here, such as Jedediah Smith National Redwoods, Fern Canyon, Trinidad Head, Big Lagoon and lots more., plus beautiful local trails just blocks away from our front door! Our house is a mosaic art house. We do get visitors, students for our workshop, & customers. Our home is unique. cozy, cluttered and inviting, as seen on HGTV in Offbeat America and Listed in 101 Things To Do in Humboldt County. My daughters' small, downstairs room is used mainly for our out of town visiting mosaic students, (but we will make that room available for additional guests, if needed). Guest AccessYou have a refrigerator in your room. However, you are mor than welcome to use the downstairs kitchen if you want to cook your own meals. There are two outdoor decks with chairs and tables for smoking. You will enter through the main house, and a key is provided if you'd like one, but our door is usually open Interaction with GuestsWe have a mosaic store and workshop on the premises, so there might be the occasional customer or student popping by. We are often out in the workshop making mosaics, but are around and happy to answer any questions or give tips on restaurants, shopping and general locale. The NeighborhoodI don't mean to be redundant, but as I stated earlier, we are right downtown, just a couple blocks from an ice cream parlor, bagels, restaurants galore, cocktail lounges, wine bars, meat pies and cider, movie theater and shopping plus two large markets offering lots of organics, full take out (or eat there) delis, sandwiches, sushi bar, soups, fruit bar and hot breakfast and lunch buffet.. Minutes to the redwoods, beaches and parks. Our neighborhood is walkable and safe. Getting AroundIt is easy to just park your car here and walk. Feel free to park in the driveway when it is unoccupied (first come, first serve). But the street parking is quite safe and easy as well (that is where I usually park). Other Things to NoteIf you have extra guests in your party, a second room can be made available that sleeps two comfortably, at a charge of $50.00 paid on arrival.
